Interesting. What's everybody's take on this?

I don't know what to think.

^Insider attempt to thwart independent actions.

I was going to start a mega thread to cover all similar efforts and groups but never got around to it, so I'll just quote myself.

Beware of hidden benefactors.

But lingering questions remain about who, exaclty, is bankrolling the group's efforts. In recent news reports, the group says it has raised some $20 million dollars. But because it's registered as a tax-exempt 501 (c)(4) group, it doesn't have to disclose its donors, inviting scrutiny from campaign finance reform groups who suspect that much of the money comes from wealthy hedge funders.

I too have heard a lot of very critical analysis of this group on progressive radio.

I missed that other thread.

Willow, I suspect that you're probably right.

It's an intruiging idea nonetheless.

I wonder how much something like this could help someone like Rocky Anderson get on the ballots, or if he really needs that much help. I just don't know.

Sadly in todays world, you need to spend money the way movie studios do -- just as much, or more, on marketing as on the product itself.

Getting on the ballot is necessary, but if there's no "brand recognition" nobody's gonna give a crap.

And of course the end-game hacking of the vote count renders it all moot anyway.

If the process itself is rigged, does it really matter that much who gets on the ballots?

Precisely.

It doesn't matter.

System is indeed rigged. Broken.

Or, from another perspective, it's a rousing success! Certainly ain't easy to keep so many duped consistently for so long...

They play it well.

And there ain't nothin' that will change anytime soon.

Unless, of course, Quetzalcoatl arrives on Dec. 21st.

Or perhaps a solar flare will take us back to the stone age.
