We talked and left open the possibility
of me coming down to the Monroe
Institute in Virginia to do a interview.

Looks like Joe answered all my questions
in this 2015 talk he gave.

I went to a mobius strip club once, but the girls were getting dressed as fast as they took their clothes off.

Sorry Fru, I couldn't resist, it's one of my few original jokes. Thanks for the links.
And while we spoke of many things, fools and kings
This he said to me

fruhmenschen, if this would be considered off topic, I'll delete it. I've read your interview (you have posted it before, no? I know I read it before) and found it just as interesting as when I first read it some time ago. I haven't yet viewed your video which I look forward to and will do when I'm on a free wifi connection perhaps sometime later today.

Today, some very-old bells with a surprising secret. The University of Houston's College of Engineering presents this series about the machines that make our civilization run, and the people whose ingenuity created them.

Just after 1900, archaeologists began finding curious sets of bronze bells in tombs throughout China. They ranged from two thousand to thirty-six hundred years old, and they looked like truncated cones that'd been slightly squashed. They're shaped a lot like our cow-bells, but these had no clappers. They were struck. They're called Zhong bells and, though thousands had been found by the late 1970s, they had yet to reveal their secret.

Players from China's National Music Research Institute almost caught on when they did concert on a set of these bells in 1957. They were working on a piece with the unpromising title The East is Red, when they were dismayed to find one of E-bells missing. Then a player chanced to notice he could get that E by striking the C-bell on its side. The C-bell apparently just happened to give two tones, a third apart.

Twenty years later, as Chinese musicologists examined a set of these bells, they realized that every bell in the set did that. They all gave two tones, either a third, or a minor third, apart. In fact, a closer look revealed that many bells even had marks on the side where you should strike to get one note or the other. Every bell was, in fact, two bells in one.

Image

The importance of that discovery grows when we realize that it took the West a thousand years to develop the cathedral bell, and we didn't have it until the middle ages. Bells are very hard to make, yet China had these remarkably sophisticated Zhong bells during the Golden Age of Athens. The bells produce a rich tone, they take far less bronze to get it than a cathedral bell, and then they deliver two sounds for the cost of one.

Acousticians are just now coming to understand how they work. Musicians are finding they were really quite hard to play. This high technology (which also took the Chinese a thousand years to perfect) died out completely during the Han period -- about the time of the first Roman Caesars.

Once historians began piecing the record together, they realized these strange bells played a role beyond music-making. For consistency of tone, they were all tuned against a standard string. The consistency of their shape made them a standard of volumetric measure. The amount of bronze in each was so carefully controlled as to provide weight standard. Each set of bells was a mini-bureau of standards in ancient China.

Image

The greatest delight of science, or of history, occurs when an object or an event seems to be one thing, turns out to be something else entirely. We gazed at those remarkable, and seemingly unassuming, bells for eighty years before they revealed dimensions of sophistication we hadn't imagined. It makes me think of Isaac Newton hearing an apple fall in his back yard. Only an apple -- a common, completely uninteresting, apple.

I'm John Lienhard, at the University of Houston, where we're interested in the way inventive minds work.

This is a greatly revised version of Episode 175.

This picture shows the proportions between bells and musicians. In a real performance, the bell players must have been sitting or standing behind the bells, because they had to face the leader of the ensemble and the other musicians infront of the bells. One can assume 3-6 players for the 13 bass bells in the lower tier, 9 players for the 33 melody bells in the middle tier (one for each octave group), and 3 players for the 19 small bells in the upper tier (one per chime).

The two photos immediately above and more on the Zhong bells can be found here:

FBI Agents Under Investigation for Coverup in Shooting Death of LaVoy Finicum as New Video is Released from Inside Vehicle (Updated II)

https://photographyisnotacrime.com/2016 ... e-vehicle/

A new video recorded from inside the car driven by Robert “LaVoy” Finicum was released today, capturing the harrowing moments before, during and after he was shot to death in Oregon last January.

The United States Department of Justice also announced it is investigating a group of “elite” FBI agents for partaking in a coverup of the shooting, according to the Oregonian.

It turns out, one FBI agent shot his gun twice, but claimed he never fired his gun.

The USDOJ said those bullets did not strike the Arizona rancher, who had been part of a group of activists occupying the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge throughout January.

Finicum, instead, was shot three times in the back by Oregon state police officers, including one bullet that pierced his heart.

The shooting death was ruled justified because the officers said they were in fear for their lives.

One of the bullets shot by the FBI agent struck his vehicle at a different angle than the other shots, which is what led investigators to determine he had lied.

UPDATE: Oregon Governor Kate Brown and state representative Greg Walden issued statements that they are troubled and concerned over the apparent lies concocted by this elite band of FBI agents.

According to KTVZ:

Oregon Gov. Kate Brown released the following statement Tuesday regarding the Robert Finicum officer-involved shooting investigation conducted by the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office:

“Any loss of life is regrettable, and I appreciate that the independent investigation into the actions of Oregon State Police was completed swiftly and thoroughly,”Brown said.

“Additional questions the investigation raised about the actions of federal agents who were also involved are troubling and properly the subject of an ongoing investigation.”

Rep. Greg Walden (R-Hood River) issued the following statement regarding the independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of LaVoy Finicum:

“This independent investigation gives us some answers to what happened, but leaves me disturbed and bewildered by the role of the FBI agents who are now under federal investigation themselves. Meanwhile, I will continue working with local officials to get results on the Steens Mountain fencing issue, federal reimbursement for the local policing costs, and to stop the monument designation in Malheur County, among other resource-related issues.”

UPDATE II: The Oregonian published an article contrasting the claims made by Tinicum’s supporters that he was murdered to the claims made by investigators.

One of the claims made by his supporters is that he had been shot on his left side, which is why he reached down towards his waistband.

But investigators

Ken Starr appeared to be enemy of HIllary Clinton

According to an FBI interview of James Rutherford, Hillary Clinton
"was in complete shock and disbelief at the thought of Foster
committing suicide."

"Of a thousand people who might commit suicide, I would never pick
Vince." Hillary Clinton, quoted in The New Yorker, The Suicide, by
Sidney Blumenthal, August 9, 1993.

"Also under suspicion for espionage was the president's wife, Hillary
Rodham Clinton, who may have been providing Foster with the sensitive
binders from the super-secret National Security Agency that Foster's
executive assistant testified he had." -James Norman, former Senior
Editor at Forbes

Webster Hubbell a close friend of Hillary and Foster said, "Don't
believe a word you hear. It was not suicide. It couldn't have been."
Esquire, November 1993

"...Hillary Rodham Clinton, provided sworn testimony ...to the special
prosecutor about the death of a White House lawyer..." New York Times,
June 14, 1994

The report of the FBI interview of Tom Castleton contradicted
Hillary's testimony of when she last saw Vincent Foster.

Hillary's initial doubts were abandoned as she agreed with Kenneth
Starr, "...Starr had finally conceded that Vince Foster really had
committed suicide." Living History by Hillary Clinton

Chris Ruddy cast suspicion by falsely accusing the Clintons of keeping
the FBI out of the Foster death investigation.

"[I]ntelligence guys in the CIA...found names there that they
identified as being Foster and Hillary. They put them under
surveillance actually before they went to the White House. They had
been surveilling these [Swiss] accounts for a while, and when Foster
on July 1, 1993, bought a ticket to Geneva" -James Norman, former
senior editor of Forbes Magazine, Dec. 7, 1995

An FBI document and a handwritten note from the Office of Independent
Counsel refer to Foster and the Swiss bank account as mentioned above
by James Norman.

Foster cancelled a flight to Switzerland, with seats for two other
people, just before his death according to an Office of Independent
Counsel document.

An Office of Independent Counsel note lists the name of Robert Maxwell
along with the initials WLH, VF, HRC, (Webster Lee Hubbell, Vince
Foster, Hillary Clinton) and the word "Systematics."

Deborah L. Gorham testified to the Senate Special Committee that Vince
Foster had National Security Agency documents.

NewsMax, the conservative news media organization founded by Chris
Ruddy, donated $1 million to the Clinton Foundation. Ruddy rose to
fame writng about "Clinton scandals" and casting suspicion on Foster's
"suicide."

The morning after Vince Foster died President Clinton spoke to the
White House staff, "In the first place no one can know why this
happened. Even if you had a whole set of objective reasons, that
wouldn't be why it happened bcause you could get a different, bigger
more burdensome set of reasons that are on someone else in this room.
So what happened was a mystery about something inside of him...and I
hope when we remember him and this we'll be a little more anxious to
talk to each other and a little less anxious to talk outside our
family."

Christopher Ruddy wrote, "Still other concerns might have influenced
the Foster family. For one thing, published reports claim or intimate
that Vince Foster and Hillary Clinton had a romantic affair." The
Strange Death of Vincent Foster, 1997

Others are asking, "Is Hillary Clinton a lesbian?"

An official investigation into the fatal shooting of Oregon militia
leader LaVoy Finicum has raised questions about whether federal agents
lied about their actions and removed bullet casings from the scene,
adding to accusations that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
engaged in a cover-up.

Evidence that FBI agents failed to disclose that they had fired shots
at Finicum and queries about whether critical evidence was removed
comes from the local Deschutes county sheriff’s office investigation,
lending credence to claims previous dismissed as conspiracy theories.
'We want Cliven free!': protesters make noise at scene of Bundy court

Finicum, a 54-year-old Arizona rancher and one of the leaders of the
rightwing militia that occupied an Oregon wildlife refuge, was shot
and killed by state troopers on a remote highway on 26 January. The
confrontation also resulted in the arrests of key protesters and
marked the beginning of the end of the 41-day standoff.

Further bolstering theories of evidence removal, law enforcement
sources told the Oregonian this week that they had seen an FBI video
that showed an agent appear to bend over twice and pick up something
near where the two shots likely occurred.

The sheriff’s office, responsible for investigating the shooting,
recently determined the shooting was justified and released close-up
footage of the final moments before Finicum exited his vehicle and was
killed.

From the start of the investigation, Finicum’s supporters across the
west have hailed him as a martyr for the conservative land-use rights
movement, arguing that the FBI planned and executed

John Kiriakou Says the FBI Tried to Entrap Him and Charge Him With
Espionage
Posted on Mar 16, 2016

John Kiriakou was one of the good guys when he worked as an
intelligence operative for the CIA from 1990 to 2004. But after he
blew the whistle on torture in 2007, the FBI started investigating him
and, he says, even attempted to entrap him in a scheme involving a
fake diplomat.

Kiriakou says he avoided the FBI’s trap, but he later got in trouble
for revealing the name of a former non-covert CIA agent to a New York
Times reporter. The disclosure led to his prosecution in 2012 for
violating the Intelligence Identities Protection Act—a 1982 amendment
to the National Security Act of 1947—and Kiriakou served more than two
years in prison as a result. He was released in 2015 and now is
working to reform security abuses in America.

The minutes of the January 27, 2016 conference call were APPROVED

The agenda was amended to allow Andy Steele time to respond to Dave Slesinger’s comments about AE911Truth. The amended agenda was APPROVED.

Dr. Mary’s Monkey presentation
Cat McGuire announced our guest speaker for the call, Ed Haslam, the author of Dr. Mary’s Monkey. Haslam gave a fascinating presentation on the contents of the book.

Expansion of debate length
It was agreed that the April 27 debate between Barbara Honegger and Craig McKee/Adam Ruff on what happened at the Pentagon on 9/11 would be the only item on the agenda for that call. The decision was made to increase the time for the debate itself to up to one hour with questions and discussion of up to 30 minutes.

Survey regarding teleconference
Facilitator Ken Freeland asked teleconference participants to respond to the survey (http://houston911truth.us5.list-manage. ... 91763ac879) on the subject of whether changes should be made to the scheduling or frequency of future teleconferences.

Debate topics
Ken Freeland raised the possibility that other topics could be debated on future calls. Dave Slesinger proposed a debate on whether AE911Truth has become an “encrusted bureaucracy.” As of this writing, no one has offered to take the negative position.

Aviation details
Because of the length of the call, Robin Hordon agreed to postpone his presentation on aviation issues related to 9/11 but he was given a few moments to introduce the topic.

Complaint about AE911Truth
Dave Slesinger offered critical comments about AE911Truth’s policy of denying others access to the contact information of petition signatories. Andy Steele responded on behalf of AE911Truth.

Announcements
* Dave Slesinger asked if anyone would be willing to work with him in approaching Professor Zdeněk Bažant of Northwestern University who has written papers supportive of the 9/11 official story. Wayne Coste said he is trying to get the American Society of Civil Engineers to retract four papers that are not scientifically valid, and he would also like help with this.
* Cat McGuire asked that participants support Newsbud, a new alternative news outlet being started by Sibel Edmonds, James Corbett, and others. Newsbud can be supported financially by going to the Kickstarter fundraising page. http://houston911truth.us5.list-manage. ... 91763ac879
* Barbara Honegger announced that she has tentatively decided to run for Congress in the 20^th Congressional District, California, on a 9/11 truth ticket. She would be running against Jimmy Panetta, son of former CIA director Leon Panetta.

Call began at 8 p.m. EST and adjourned at 10:05 p.m. EST/5 p.m. to 7:05 p.m. PST

Audio of the February call can be heard here: http://houston911truth.us5.list-manage2 ... 91763ac879 The next monthly teleconference will take place on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 8 p.m. EST, 5 p.m. PST. Please email agenda items for next call to facilitator Ken Freeland (diogenesquest@gmail.com) by March 26. Please use subject line “Agenda item for 911 Truth Teleconference.” Please include a brief description of your item and any relevant links you’d like participants to be aware of, together with your estimate of the number of minutes your agenda item will require.

Denver's police chief and mayor said they had a productive and educational conversation Friday with a student who created a piece of art showing an officer wearing a Ku Klux Klan hood while pointing a gun at a minority child.

"This was one of the more teachable moments that I've ever had as the mayor of this city," Mayor Michael Hancock told reporters after the meeting at Kunsmiller Creative Arts Academy. "Not just for the student, but for us as well."

The controversial artwork by the Kunsmiller 10th-grader was on display in the lobby of the city's Webb Building as part of a public school art show. It was removed Wednesday — at the girl's request, officials say — after drawing outrage from the city's law enforcement community.

Hancock said while the student intended to comment on the current tumult between police and minorities across the nation, she was also evoking images of Denver's past and the KKK's historic presence in the city.

The student's piece was one of dozens of pieces of student art, including photography, sculpture, video and drawings, hung in the Webb Building. Her work was chosen by a panel of Denver Public Schools' jurors from students' submissions across the city.

Hancock and Chief Robert White called a meeting with the student and her parents to discuss the piece and better understand her intentions as part of their ongoing attempts to create a dialogue with students.

Just to chime in: actual, sensory experience is what any human being reading this has been evolved to perceive and participate within. Nothing you will ever see on a screen compares.

The only real value of altered states is the window it provides you into your own perception. Despite the "radical" and "transformative" changes that hippies hype re: etheogens, it's not like your reactive, biological, continuous sensory perception process actually changes -- your response to it just gets handicapped by drugs that fuck your shit up. I know I'm a neurosci Barbarian but I will go reference for reference with you on that one.

RV is very real, and very scary precisely because it is very real. You can actually leave your body. That is not remotely safe or cool.

Whenever you can, spend time outside mediated tech loops just paying attention to the miracle that is your own body, which extends far outside the borders of your skin.

"She has been profoundly impacted by the issues of today," Hancock said, adding that the girl "taught us all something."
