blog handles for all?

Postby Avalon » Sat Aug 20, 2005 1:30 am

Jeff, is there some way you could persuade people to use a handle, any handle, rather than the "anonymous" handle available on the blog? It gets so hard to tell the anonymice apart, especially in those columns with a lot of discussion.

Wouldn't have to be a permanent handle, could be just for that one posting, but it would make things clearer.

It looks like, so long as we allow postings from unregistered users, we have to live with "anonymous."

By the way

Postby Rigorous Intuition » Sat Aug 20, 2005 8:04 am

you may have noticed the page count for this forum shrink. I've been archiving a bit off its back end to extend its lifespan before creating a new one.

For some reason, ezboard is logging me out when I try to delete old forums, and it's showing a post count when they're empty. I'll probably continue doing this until I find an answer.

I cannot post a new thread to the new categories, it says I need to be Admin to do this.

The new categories are archives, so read-only.

To maintain a broad conversation, active threads are limited to the current "Open Discussion" forum, "Data Dump" and "Parlour."

If you want an archived thread reactivated pm me, and I can pull it into the active Open Discussion forum.

Edited by: Rigorous Intuition at: 8/20/05 9:22 am

Just a suggestion

Postby Peachtree Pam » Sat Aug 20, 2005 3:16 pm

Jeff,
It all looks great. Is it too much trouble to put de Menezes in a separate thread or will you keep it under assassinations? If you keep it under assassinations, there are many Stockwell threads under 7/7. Maybe they should all be in one place under assassinations.....

Just a suggestion.

Pam

Hi Pam, thanks; I meant to keep them together in 7/7. I'll move that thread to 7/7 for now and consider starting a new category for the killing as the story develops.

categories/animals

Postby anon » Sun Aug 21, 2005 4:11 pm

Been gone about two weeks, catching up here.

Could there be a category for animals? I'm very interested in the "Best Friends"/animal sacrifice/animal familiars and even shape shifting (human/animal) material.

Thanks again for creating a wonderful forum Jeff and thanks to all the intelligent people who come here.

Hi anon. Off hand I'm not sure if there's enough animal material right now to justify a separate category, but I'll review and consider it.

too many headings.....?

Postby Sokolova » Tue Aug 23, 2005 10:14 am

...How about more generic headings and fewer of them? A 'Paranormal' heading for example could encompass the UFO thread, plus spiritualism and all things in between. A 'Deep Politics' heading could encompass 911, 7/7, JFK, the Bush family and much more. That way you could maybe get down to say 10 headings which might be better?

I'd also put in a plea for a 'Science and Pseudo-science' heading as the ramifications of this topic touch on so much that we care about here.

I have encountered ezboards that don't seem to have the 20-page restriction, are there different schemes you can operate?

Ellie

gold?

Postby Avalon » Wed Aug 24, 2005 12:14 pm

Would they be able to get beyond the 20 page issue by becoming Gold communities at EZBOARD?
