Well no, of course nobody saw "Paparazzi" but it illustrates Chiaroscuro's point - Gibson has an exceedingly violent imagination and he's not afraid to use it. His psychopathy gets splashed all over the screen, again and again. He's like Opus Dei's Coffin Joe.

www.fametracker.com/galax...9_03.shtml

'Maybe I pick 'me. Maybe I like torture'

jam.canoe.ca/Movies/Artis...58589.html

quote

No question, Gibson holds great store in the entertainment value of physical punishment. His new movie, Payback, one of his darkest in years, has become notorious for the fact that he took the film off the hands of its original director, Brian Helgeland, a personal friend who wrote last year's Conspiracy Theory. Gibson hired an unnamed director to reshoot about a quarter of the movie.

Among the additions: A torture scene in which Gibson's character Porter -- a small-time hood who takes on the Mob for the $70,000 that was cheated from him in a doublecross heist -- has his toes pulverized by a sledgehammer.

It brings to mind a similar scene with Patrick Stewart in Conspiracy Theory. It's a running gag in Lethal Weapon films for Gibson to get beaten up. And it's career-lore that Gibson auditioned for Mad Max the day after a bar fight.

"When haven't I taken a beating?" the 43-year-old Gibson says. "It's in a lot of films, a lot of scripts. Maybe I pick 'em. Maybe I like torture," he says drily, facetiousness in his tone.

Without going off the deep end of theology...

Postby FranklinCase Admin » Tue May 16, 2006 12:51 am

I don't quite comprehend why certain individuals at the RI board have such disdain for Jesus-Christ. The amount of belief you hold in the powers of satanic worship must equal that of the powers you hold in Christ, if not more so. I am not an advocate of Mel Gibson or Passion of the Christ, (I haven't even seen it myself) however, I am startled by the level of hatred often times displayed on the RI board toward anything having to deal with God. Maybe I am wrong, but when you insert the Biblical context into the scenarios we are facing today: society as a whole, politics, war, it all makes complete sense. Now at this point you may be thinking, great, some religious nut, but if that's you, before you make that judgment I challenge you to read the book of Revelation and 2 Thessalonians from the Bible, then get back to me. I'll leave you with a few verses to ponder if don't have the will to go and read it for yourself....

Quote:

(The Message Translation)

2 Thessalonians Chapter 2

The Anarchist

1Now, friends, read these next words carefully. Slow down and don't go jumping to conclusions regarding the day when our Master, Jesus Christ, will come back and we assemble to welcome him. 2Don't let anyone shake you up or get you excited over some breathless report or rumored letter from me that the day of the Master's arrival has come and gone. 3Don't fall for any line like that.

Before that day comes, a couple of things have to happen. First, the Apostasy. Second, the debut of the Anarchist, a real dog of Satan. 4He'll defy and then take over every so-called god or altar. Having cleared away the opposition, he'll then set himself up in God's Temple as "God Almighty." 5Don't you remember me going over all this in detail when I was with you? Are your memories that short?

6You'll also remember that I told you the Anarchist is being held back until just the right time. 7That doesn't mean that the spirit of anarchy is not now at work. It is, secretly and underground. 8But the time will come when the Anarchist will no longer be held back, but will be let loose. But don't worry. The Master Jesus will be right on his heels and blow him away. The Master appears and--puff!-the Anarchist is out of there.

9The Anarchist's coming is all Satan's work. All his power and signs and miracles are fake, 10evil sleight of hand that plays to the gallery of those who hate the truth that could save them. 11And since they're so obsessed with evil, God rubs their noses in it--gives them what they want. 12Since they refuse to trust truth, they're banished to their chosen world of lies and illusions.

13Meanwhile, we've got our hands full continually thanking God for you, our good friends--so loved by God! God picked you out as his from the very start. Think of it: included in God's original plan of salvation by the bond of faith in the living truth. 14This is the life of the Spirit he invited you to through the Message we delivered, in which you get in on the glory of our Master, Jesus Christ.

15So, friends, take a firm stand, feet on the ground and head high. Keep a tight grip on what you were taught, whether in personal conversation or by our letter. 16May Jesus himself and God our Father, who reached out in love and surprised you with gifts of unending help and confidence, 17put a fresh heart in you, invigorate your work, enliven your speech.

Edited by: FranklinCase Admin at: 5/15/06 11:02 pm

I don't need you to CHALLENGE me to read scripture that I already know, and I think it's safe to say that nobody else will ACTUALLY read either of your selections as a result of your urging. Revelations? How can you think to throw that out without "going off the deep end of theology"? I believe the very issues it raises require just that: going off the deep end. Any relationship that I may have with Christ is mine alone, and I don't ever expect it to match that of those who need to over explain what it's all about, or worse -- have someone do it for them.

Quote:
I don't quite comprehend why certain individuals at the RI board have such disdain for Jesus-Christ. That's neither a denial of "evil", nor a repudiation of Christ, but simply a logical conclusion. It seems that you would have us all convert to your brand of Christianity if we followed your reasoning, because you know: if there's evil in the world, then The Bible must be "right", and God and Jesus and all...

Replace any memories with propaganda lately?

Yours in Christ,
Garth Trope Hough
"A crooked stick will cast a crooked shadow."

My problem is with Gibson and his torture fetish

Postby Chiaroscuro » Tue May 16, 2006 7:55 pm

My problem is not with Jesus.

Neither does my dislike for end-timer type groups of which some memembers appear determined to trigger armegeddon mean I disbelieve in a benign Creator.

People taking actions indicating they believe there are evil entities does not mean the evil entities exist. It only shows that those people believe the entities exist.

The evidence of evil entities does not prove the bible or any other religious text is absolute infallable truth.

In general I don't care what religion or lack there of people. My beliefs are personal and heartfelt so I prefer to grant others the same treatment I want to be left alone. It is only when they use such claimed beliefs to take actions which harm others that I object.
