Be off with you, Bill!

Postby greencrow0 » Tue Aug 15, 2006 11:07 am

I was wondering when someone would start a thread about the recent harrassment of persons with pirated copies of microsoft windows on their computers.

This computer I'm typing on is about 5 years old. It came with microsoft windows loaded. About 2 years ago, it completely crashed with a virus. I got my trusty computer techie in to fix it. Andrew is just a guy who happens to be a geek that works on computers in his off hours. He has a regular 'day job'. Anyway, he loaded his copy of windows back onto my computer and fixed it.

All was fine till a month or so ago when I got a notice that Microsoft was downloading some 'security patches' onto my computer. No problem, I said to myself, as this had been going on for years. Occasionally, I wondered that these 'patches' were all about. I don't really like the idea of some remote 'authority' having access to my computer but...whatever.

BUT these patches were different than the ones previously loaded [I had obviously been lulled into a sense of complacency]. These patches were full of harrassment and hostility and threats. I was using an illegal copy of Windows...I was in violation of their policy...my computer could be vulnerable to a 'security attack'...I would have to RESOLVE the matter ASAP,

Now everytime I turn on my computer I am subjected to this harrassment. I don't really care if they send a virus through the wires and deliberately melt down this computer or follow me all over the internet...this computer is not worth spending $250 US to load an 'authentic' copy of windows on...it's only worth about $50...if that.

Just send the virus, MS but leave me alone! Anyway, I am NOT breaking the law...I have mentally fought this legal battle all the way to the US Supreme Court and WON!

You cannot force someone to pay for something you allowed them to use for years for free! You cannot have access to someone's computer for years without their explicit permission and then start harrassing them to pay for continued permission to do something they don't want you to do in the first place. You can't 'Negative bill' for something that someone never ordered!

Be off with you Bill Gates...go back to your 'charitable causes' like AIDs research with your buddy Bill Clinton...cooked up to make you look good at a time when you're harrassing millions of PC users in their own homes.....

You must have paid big bucks for some public relations firm to think of that cover.

Let my computer go!

Edited by: greencrow0 at: 8/15/06 9:10 am
