Just a word to everyone here concerned with how the hunting story doesn't make sense: We actually have absolutely no independent evidence that ANY of this happend as a "hunting accident." We don't even know if Cheney & Co. were even in Texas until sometime Sunday. I'm thinking that the 24 hour delay was to invent a cover story and stage the evidence. For example, how de we know this wasn't a lover's quarrel over Pamela Willeford, as is now being suggested by some. Or something even nastier, as speculated about in the last RI column?

Alan Dershowitz has posted some commentary on this aspect over at Huffington Post. Although his commentary is accepting of the basic outline of the story, he makes an obvious point:
Quote:
A simple cost/benefit analysis suggests that he (or those advising him) must have believed that there was more to be gained than lost by a 14 hour delay that would eventually be made public. It is likely, therefore, that something happened during that 14 hour period which was worth the negative costs of the delay.

Anyone want to bet that Whittington won't live past the weekend? Perhaps none of us will ever hear his side of things. If Whittington is around next week and talking, then fine. If not, I for one, am not believing a word of this story.

Postby smithtalk » Wed Feb 15, 2006 11:16 pm

CNN today reports that Armstrong had told CNN she never saw Cheney or Whittington "drink at all on the day of the shooting until after the accident occurred, when the vice president fixed himself a cocktail back at the house."

i know everyones different but i usually have cocktails on happy or party-like occasions,
i think for stress i'd just have a good scotch or a glass of wine

Has ANYBODY seen any attempts by the media to interview Ambassador Pamela Willeford, the other member of this hunting party?

MSM says that today Whittington was getting work done and couldn't understand what all the hubbub is about.

Too bad they won't show him say that.

Was Corpus Christi even the closest city to the accident? Because those doctors have proven themselves to be unreliable leads me to believe that part of the delay in reporting the incident had to do with finding a hospital that'd play along.

RIP Mr. Whittington.

I've had a problem with Cheney's account that he discussed this with Armstrong and that THEY agreed that she should be the one to report the incident. My take from the first was that she decided to report the incident to a local reporter, THEN informed Cheney what she had done. Interesting take here:

www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/columns/pressingissues_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1001998206

Quote:
The ranch hostess/chief witness Katharine Armstrong first told us that she and her mother made the decision to go public of their own “volition, ” as she put, on Sunday morning, leading to the now-famous phone call to the Corpus Christi newsroom. Later she said that she had run the idea past Cheney on Sunday morning and he approved it, or at least said it was up to her.

Now the official narrative is that he discussed it with her Saturday night and they directed the disclosure “together.”

Again, the first instinct of this man is to lie his way through the tough parts. And, I DO NOT buy the CBS claim that Cheney is suffering meltdown from the incident. He seemed pretty calm to me. I don't think it bothers him all that much. Don't worry about the man having another heart attack. There is nothing "to attack".

Edited by: chiggerbit at: 2/16/06 8:34 pm

Back to Pamela Willeford

Postby OptimisticAlgorithm » Fri Feb 17, 2006 6:31 am

Remember the now silent, unseen eye-witness Pamela Willeford. She's ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein, right. Well I was zooming around on Google Earth, and here's what the CIA fact book has to say about the place:

Quote:
Since World War II (in which Liechtenstein remained neutral), the country's low taxes have spurred outstanding economic growth. Shortcomings in banking regulatory oversight have resulted in concerns about the use of the financial institutions for money laundering. Liechtenstein has, however, implemented new anti-money-laundering legislation and recently concluded a Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty with the US.

At the end of the article there's a bit more: Illicit Drugs: has strengthened money-laundering controls, but money laundering remains a concern due to Liechtenstein's sophisticated offshore financial services sector.

Kind of sounds like the idealized neo-con society. Maybe there's even more to this than meets the eye. All I can say is Hmmm...

I don't see any information stating that Mrs Whittington is James Baker's sister. The two sources I find for that statement on the Net don't say where their info comes from.

Source?
