yes, i just read it, this is the kind of thinking I refer to as knowing and not knowing, he is articulating it in the best possible way. of course the last resort (the final disatraction) is to start looking at Putin...now that will make everyone regroup against "the enemies"...pathetic.
--
However, having said that, since life is short, better be on the american side of it (wrong and rich) than ...say, iraq.
--

.
Quote:
...Most people are depressed and lead lives of quiet desperation

not totally so. because really life in the USA, for the ones who are not drowning (minorities etc.), is fairly great, compared to our part of the world (was just thinking about it today, with a sigh...and longing).
Sorry to break the news to you (as a jew who has special relatoins with God) It does pay to steal...usually. I mean God or Jesus do not come down beating you on the head or striking you with lightning. But moderation is wiser, and I think the US has gone overboard this time with the pigs in DC (and likewise here, their friends in our gov). The french rev is an illustration and some other historical events that demonstrate the principle.
--
I had a thought that perhaps eventually Israel will turn out as the chief beneficiary of this war, but not so simple, because it wanted the USA to annihilate IRaq as a strategic threat, rather financially. Perhaps the crooks in DC will have to yield some of the overflows to Israel, within the loot distribution (the Buffet deal smells of some post iraq effect). This is small change for the USA, but can lift Israeli standard of living very high. Perhaps this is the real reason behind this "Israel Lobby" frenzy. These are simply the echoes of tough negotiations...between the plotters.
--
Of course, in the case of Israsel, GOd IS going to strike a lightning...as we know in history, the Jewish people are under scrutiny :-). Since this has indeed become Soddom and Gomorah here (not foreign policy, but society here is on the verge of ...i don't have words to describe the hell this has become here...much worse than your worst neighbourhood). I am just checking the skies daily for the rain of stones ...can't be too far ahead.

Depression...It's all relative I guess

Postby darkbeforedawn » Sun May 14, 2006 11:03 pm

It was wrong of me to whine about the quality of life here, when it must be so much worse in Israel and other places. And you are in the direct line of fire when the nukes fly. Standard of living is high here and that is something to be grateful for...there is a quality of disenchantment and helplessness and doom which is new to many of us here. Perhaps it is because so many of us did mistakenly belief our voices and opinions mattered, that elections at least were real. And There is the gnawing surreal aspect of the ever more conspicuous media lies and deceptions. As some have noted here, time seems "stepped up". I know so many people using anti depression drugs and self medicating themselves in other ways because they feel like hell.. that is all I really meant.

Oh, I didn't mean to pull the guilt trip trump (as in how can someone so rich still be sad ...there is an old brittish ballad called "Richard Cory" I believe which says it all more eloquently).
I know the difference, because I went back and forth through my life, and my last stayin the usa was indeed ...depressing, in the sense you mentioned.
However, yes, it is better to self medicate in a nice townhouse wherever, than to scrap for food in the Israeli self produced lagger right now -among the half crazed population, unless you are a member of the "18 ruling families club" here. (and their army) who self medicate in very nice mansions.
---
