Winners

Dang, I almost feel bad about this Republican loss:

http://elections.us.reuters.com/top/new ... 92157.html

WASHINGTON, Nov 7 (Reuters) - Indiana Democratic sheriff Brad Ellsworth ousted six-term Republican Rep. John Hostettler on Tuesday, boosting Democratic efforts to gain control of the House of Representatives.

Televised projections gave the victory in the southwestern Indiana district to Ellsworth, a conservative Democrat who had campaigned on raising the minimum wage. Hostettler is a maverick Republican who had voted against the Iraq war.

How long to know winners?

Postby chiggerbit » Tue Nov 07, 2006 9:56 pm

Got a feeling we won't know some of the winners for days.

Had a robocall poll tonight, asking how I voted on these, different form of exit polling, I guess. Be interesting to see how this matches up to the "actual" counts.

CT

Odd, "official" Republican Schlesinger seems to be doing better than expected. Must be the returns are too early yet. Unofficial Republican Lieberman is just behind opponent Lamont. Like I said, it must still be early counting by eastern time.

Voting rates...

Postby chiggerbit » Tue Nov 07, 2006 10:12 pm

Voting rates seem higher than usual. Will that scew the polls that have been taken, since they rely heavily on "likely voters" from past elections? Is it possible that there is a single Republican who has not voted in the last three Elections? Where will these new voters come from? Will heavier-than-average votes mean more votes for Dems this time? If any here are in doubt, remember that torture is considered by THE REPUBLICANS as a benefit for the country.

Aack!

Postby chiggerbit » Tue Nov 07, 2006 10:56 pm

Sen. Joe Lieberman, who is running as an independent after losing in the Democratic primary, is projected to win in Connecticut.

Too bad, I would dearly love to see Liberman go down. What will the two parties do next time? Will Lieberman run as a Dem or a Repub? Will the Repubs dare to run a stong candidate against him next time? Too bad it's six years away.

chig, FDL has many links supporting a 3% Lamont advantage, in spite of the call by CNN and others. They are saying Lamont will concede with that margin, even tho only about 10% of precincts reporting?

Moderate Republicans

Postby chiggerbit » Tue Nov 07, 2006 11:28 pm

I'm seeing moderate Republicans as being the big losers. What this tells me is that the country is going to be even more polarized than it was before. Bad news. I think the Dems are going to win the House, lose the Senate, especially if Lieberman shows himself to be a Republican in sheep's clothing. With a sicko like Bush as Prez, it should be worse for the Repubs than it is going to be. Scary. I see this polarization as being terribly toxic for the country. Dangerous, even. And the Dem's tendency to compromise has, unfortunmately, aggravated the toxicity, if that makes sense. Not sure why, but bi-partisanship on the part of the Dems has worsened the situation, exacerbated it. Maybe it has to do with the alpha dog pack mentality.

In the meantime, I will keep my fingers crossed that the pollsters are wrong about Lieberman.

Change

Postby chiggerbit » Wed Nov 08, 2006 12:21 am

Could be, danbeach, that the mood of the voters as related by the pollsters, against the situation in Iraq may encourage the Dems to be more courageous. Timid shits! And count on it, the mood on Iraq will only get worse as the brainless president "stays the course" with others' lives, just as he did during Nam. That's been a no-brainer loser from the beginning. Part of me thinks the Repuglies should win both houses so the Repuglies are forced to take responsibility for the mess, as they should have to do.

dims win the house

need 3 senate seats..not likely

funny my power went out right before the CNN announcement..
rumours swirling of power outages at another site

Yes the mood can makea HUGE difference but folks need to realize that the dims will just continue their role as the enablers of the reds
unless some of these big crimes are cracked..

Do not concede early!

Postby chiggerbit » Wed Nov 08, 2006 1:25 am

Dems should NOT concede until ALL the votes are counted--THIS time! EVERY single vote! Kerry was such a puke.
