MacC:

1. Kindly stay OUT of this thread henceforth. Do not post on this thread anymore. This is a discourse that some wish to have without your harrassment.

2. You can be a dick in the "CO-MORBID" thread that you started. Only there.

3. No board flooding! This used to be what you saw as a major problem. It's more or less why I ended up in charge here (together with Elvis), to stop it so we can have focused discussions. I'm closing two out of three of the threads you started that are exactly the same thing. Use copy-paste to migrate posts from there that you consider important to the CO-MORBID thread.

4. On the main Corona Virus Thread, respect that people genuinely believe what they believe. If they are as duped as you believe, then your role is to be NICE as you make your points in a sober way. I believe a couple of people who see this your way are doing that! If you are going to harrass, alienate, chase and disgust, demand personal details of long-time members (or new ones, for that matter), or accuse them (implicitly or otherwise) of wittingly working for The Man solely on the basis of believing Coronavirus is a big bad contagion that is overwhelming health systems, then STAY AWAY.

5. These are simple rules. You brought them on yourself through the mean tenor of your posts, which is in contradiction to their supposed "wake up call" function. None of this represents censorship of your viewpoints. It is perfectly okay to decry what you see as police-state and social engineering measures, for example, and to suggest they are unnecessary, long-planned, etc. None of this is to censor your point of view on the outbreak, or the hoax, or the whatever it is. All of this is simple. Respect or there will be a rapid banning, which will genuinely upset me (though I expect it will upset you more).

6. I am not going to discuss individual posts, words, who-started-its, etc., etc. No time, as you say. Find constructive ways to communicate that.

I wouldn't have bothered laying this out for most people who started acting the way you have been. It is in the spirit of what Joe Hillhoist replied to you above.
viewtopic.php?f=8&t=42004&start=15#p684771

Specifically, the first sentence of his reply, at the bottom of that post, delivered in the idiom of the non-American Anglosphere. Take it to heart.

A couple of people asked me to clarify what supplies are running short. I can confirm what someone else posted upthread: aside from PPE, respiratory equipment is a major concern. The other major shortage is test kits and the ability to process them. I'm still waiting on results for one of my patients who was tested a week ago. Another shortage that we've basically given up even thinking about at this point is the proper type of room for positive patients. Ideally they should be in negative pressure rooms, which prevent airborne pathogens from escaping. Now we're just keeping doors closed and hoping for the best.

WTH? How the hell did we miss this? #Event201 sponsor @BillGates gettin' down with @SercoGroup?
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-07-23/gates-foundation-trust-ups-stake-in-u-k-private-prison-company

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Trust increased its stake in one of the U.K.’s largest for-profit prison operators.

The trust, the Gates foundation’s investment arm, added nearly 200,000 shares of Serco Group Plc in May, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. That took its holding to 3.74 million shares worth about 5.3 million pounds ($6.6 million), a tiny fraction of the foundation’s total assets of about $48 billion.

This was interesting:

A hypothesis that should be tested: With a) <£1million to play with, b) the ability to recruit a team from among special forces/intel services/specialist criminals/whoever, and c) no rules (so for example they could deploy honey traps on the head of security), a Red Team would break into the most secure UK bio-research facilities and acquire material that could be released publicly in order to cause deaths on the scale of millions. A serious test will also reveal that there is no serious attempt to incentivise the stars of Whitehall to work on such important issues or involve extremely able people from outside Whitehall.

Grizzly, Harvey, the idea on this thread was to take the contagion seriously as a phenomenon massively overwhelming health systems. There are other threads where your last couple of posts make more sense and build on existing discussion.

There is a chance China is understating it's death toll by a magnitude of 10 or more. Just judging by random bits of info I've picked up off people.

I'd be curious to hear more on whatever you've heard or are thinking.

It is, of course, plausible to think China would and could suppress the numbers. It is also plausible to believe they have the total surveillance and control apparatus in place to control a contagion by the means claimed.

They've only just started counting asymptomatic cases.

Basically what I'm hearing is second hand via people in Shanghai where apparently everything is good and others on Australia who do business with China. It's our major trading partner. There is really full on surveillance tho. In China most transactions are done via an app, the same app also now monsters your building for COVID19 cases. In Shanghai someone tests positive then everyone's app goes off, ie it changes from you having "green" status to yellow or red. If you leave the city without permission it goes yellow and starts pinging authorities. If youre green you can go out, go to bars, cinemas and generally anywhere else you'd normally be allowed to go.

Apparently very few cases in Shanghai.

In other places ... I'm hearing that people in Hubei, especially Wuhan are seeing ongoing mass cremations, still, potentially thousands a day. This is all second hand and the only msm source I've seen that says anything similar is the Daily Mail which is about as trustworthy as China in terms of honesty. Basically people who do business with people in Wuhan reckon the death toll us much higher than we're hearing about.

I heard stories of building being welded shut and others having entrances covered with dirt, I think we have probably all heard these stories too. Some of those sources in Wuhan are saying in some cases whole blocks of people died or most of the apartments residents did, sometimes from lack of food or water. Again I dunno how true this is either. It could just be anti Chinese propaganda.

Any thoughts on this?

Westchester County has adopted an aggressive testing philosophy: More than 29,000 of the county’s less than one million residents have been tested, according to the county Department of Health, with 7,187 positive for Covid-19 as of Friday. Statewide, about 138,000 people have been tested.

In New York City, with a population over eight times the size of Westchester County, just under 58,000 people had been tested as of Friday, according to the state.

The rate of hospitalization for cases in Westchester was hovering at around 1 percent.

1% is somewhat lower than the initial estimates - just due to the number of cases being swelled by asymptomatic positive cases?
