Re: I am currently watching television programmes
^^They've hinted that she might come back (but probably not). Apparently it was a scheduling conflict with a Netflix movie she's in.
I forgot to mention my latest guilty pleasure: the new Sabrina the Teenage Witch show on Netflix. It's surprisingly entertaining and dark. It's got cannibalism, children served up for dinner, Sabrina performing human sacrifice and a main character who is under house arrest for trying to blow up the Vatican. And Miranda Otto (aunt Zelda) praising Satan and ranting about the false god and his propaganda machine never gets old. It's definitely not the Sabrina I grew up with.
And since we don't have a gaming thread, I'm currently replaying the Director's Cut of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. It's an awesome game with so much rigint stuff in it. Secret FEMA internment camps, human experimentation, corporations taking over, the media fabricating and twisting the news, mind control, dodgy implants, spooky AIs, cults, geo-engineering, private military contractors up to nefarious shit and shadowy, powerful people pulling all the strings, all set in a cyberpunk near future. It's like they looked at rigint for inspiration and decided to go with all of it.

Watching both, of course, quasi involuntarily. And here I skipped every single Star Trek since the 1967 series except for the movies and the animated series, having seen only a couple of episodes of Deep Space Nine.
Disco is much more effective emotionally in the second season, having crammed way too much to establish its multiple empires and universes in the first. It's pure space opera with copious soap and either you like it or you don't.

No, DISCO, as in Discovery. On the show, when the characters go jogging in the ship corridors (I have trouble imagining that as fun) they wear these t-shirts:

Re-watching the first season of ‘The Wire’; still excellent and timely 17 years later. It doesn’t matter to me that the communication technology is out of date—so am I. Some changes in the cast and characters, updates to technology, street products (replace Heroin with Fentanyl), more attention to police violence and residential anger (after the 2015 death of Freddie Gray, while in custody sparked rioting), street, school violence, etc.

Re: I am currently watching television programmes
^^I re-watched the whole series a few months ago and it's still the best damn show ever. They actually talk about how fentanyl is the new big bad in season five, which came out eleven years ago.
As for current watching, I just watched Stranger Things 3. Much better than season two. They're channeling Red Dawn and the Terminator, plus the usual eighties nostalgia, teen angst and interdimensional monsters. Pure popcorn goodness.
Right now I'm watching the French/Belgian show 'Black Spot' on Netflix. It's a crime show with your standard case of the week structure, but with an overarching story that involves supernatural forces lurking in the woods. Another French show I haven't started yet that looks good is 'Transfers', in which a man wakes up in the wrong body from five years in a coma, to a world where consciousness can be transferred between bodies, with predictably dubious results.
I'm also almost done with my second watching of Deadwood since the Deadwood movie just came out and I wanted to be up-to-date on the story before I watch it. Cocksuckers abound.

Re: I am currently watching television programmes
I would highly recommend 'Years and Years' from BBC/HBO. It follows a family through ten years as the UK (and the world) goes to shit around them and the government goes full fascist.
'The Boys' is also excellent, based on the comic by Garth Ennis. It's a world where superheroes are real but not very nice. They all work for a giant corporation that manages their image, cleans up the collateral damage and merchandises the shit out of them.
The main character gets involved after A-Train, the world's fastest man, accidentally runs through his girlfriend and splatters her all over the sidewalk.
