Welcome back, BenD. As I remember, you presented some good arguments here, the best yet to challenge the, er, prevailing views on certain controversial topics.

Thank you Elvis, I agree, no one learns in an echo chamber..

Stephen Morgan, believe it or not, for actually thinking through and believing in his own bullshit, as opposed to being a cutout for copy-paste alt-right meme distribution. Hard to believe he would have seen Trump as anything other than a New York City scam artist.

Damn you, Jeff Wells! Every time someone mentions Stephen Morgan, I picture an aged Howard Hughes, from the top of his straggly-haired head down to the tips of his grossly overgrown toenails!

Hiya Elvis, I don't check into this thread very often, so hadn't seen you asking about me till recently. Being a flagrant narcissist, it's always nice to be noticed - and I'm doing okay out in the real world, all things considered.
I've enjoyed your posts (and your avatars!) over the years too. I'm not around much anymore, but I still stagger by from time to time, vomit on the rug, then take my leave - either shamefaced or defiant depending on blood alcohol concentration.
I took a wee step back from posting when I felt my tone was becoming increasingly dickish and abrasive. My earlier reply to Stephen Morgan in this thread, after performing a successful summoning ritual, is a case in point. That was like conjuring up the spirit of Erasmus only to throw a fart in it's face. Ain't nobody got time for that.
Morgan abides though. Indeed, it sometimes seems like half the internet has rallied 'neath his banner. Not his whole banner, sadly - the Christianized socialism (if I'm remembering rightly) is absent among the bulk of the newer recruits - but a little bit of his banner now flutters in the face of all of us.
I was something of a cockend to Hammer of Los as well, looking back on it. Something of a cockend in general tbh. That'll do for an epitaph, I reckon.

I'm not entirely absent. I read the threads in GD whenever anything important occurred.
And I miss everyone always. Especially everyone I argue with. Especially those among them that eventually became somethings not entirely unlike friends.

Yup. Same here, these days I am content to just drop by now and then to have a look. Trying to be more positive in day to day life, though it sometimes feels overwhelming.
Quit my job a few months ago, when I started to feel like I hated everyone, especially the customers :/
Just past week started to think that maybe it would be time to get back to work, everything doesn't feel quite so dark anymore.

Wish AlicetheKurious was with us again.
Like to read her thoughts on What is now happening is KSO and also more bird's eye view of the Middle East and Arab world.

I got a job, in a place possibly better aligned with my personal views. Gonna start next week. It has been good to have time to think, read, walk, procrastinate, sleep and wonder for a while. Humans definitely do too little of that, generally. And thinking about how well one actually has it, in life. To be able to have, basically, a ten month holiday and still have food to eat and a place to live.
Read dozens of books, spent days on end doing nothing at all, and others reading aloud and discussing books with my companion.
It is funny how sometimes you just happen to pick up stuff at the library, and realize it is something you should have read a long time ago.
