(Again, an evidence free assertion—that technology leads to chronic illness, when it is probably the cheap factory food that is the culprit.) These challenges are further impacted by climate change, poverty, conflict, and migration.

Alexander Charns Freedom of Information Act Collection
This collection contains thousands of FBI documents procured by North Carolina lawyer Alexander Charns through the Freedom of Information Act over eight years.  His research reveals the extent of FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover’s secret activity to influence Supreme Court decisions and to discredit non-compliant Supreme Court Justices through wiretaps and disinformation.  In the process Charns filed hundreds of Freedom of Information requests and brought lawsuits against the FBI.  Charns was given special permission to research Justice Abe Fortas’ papers which showed Fortas had been an informer to the FBI and the White House during his tenure which ended in disgrace after an ethics scandal.  Charns' pioneering work was the first to expose this FBI constitutional violation of the separation of powers.
The collection has three linear feet of documents provided by the FBI and from Charns' own correspondence and legal actions to obtain them.  It includes files on Warren Burger, Thurgood Marshall, Lewis Powell, Harry Blackman, Byron White, William Rehnquist and Carolyn Agger, the widow of Justice Fortas.  The documents in this collection were obtained by Mr. Charns after the publication of  Cloak and Gavel : FBI wiretaps, bugs, informers and the Supreme Court (University of Illinois Press) in 1992. The collection provides opportunities to expand upon the findings of Mr. Charns’ book.

WASHINGTON – Yesterday, Sens. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) and Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) sent a letter to Special Counsel John Durham determined on getting to the bottom of the lack of cooperation by senior Justice Department officials and other witnesses central to his investigation.
“It seems odd that individuals would be allowed to avoid fully cooperating with your office, particularly given your authority to compel testimony and records,” the senators stated.
Specifically, the senators are interested in information regarding the following individuals:
1. James Comey, declined to be interviewed.
2. Andrew McCabe, through his counsel, did not agree to be interviewed by your office even after your office “offered to narrow the scope of subjects to be asked about.”
3. Peter Strzok, agreed to provide information to your office “concerning matters related to the FBI’s Alfa Bank investigation, but otherwise declined to be interviewed by [your office] on matters related to his role in the Crossfire Hurricane investigation.”
4. Bill Priestap, agreed to provide information to your office “concerning matters related to the FBI’s Alfa Bank investigation, but otherwise declined to be interviewed by [your office] on matters related to his role in the Crossfire Hurricane investigation.”
5. Kevin Clinesmith, declined to be interviewed by [your office] or cooperate with [your office’s] investigation.

Gary Webb was born in Corona, California, in 1955. Webb worked for several newspapers including The Kentucky Post and Cleveland Plain Dealer. Webb became a staff reporter for the San Jose Mercury News in 1988.
An investigative journalist, Webb became interested in the covert activities of the Central Intelligence Agency. Webb created a great of controversy when in 1996 he wrote a series of articles claiming that supporters of a CIA-backed guerrilla army in Nicaragua helped trigger America's crack-cocaine epidemic in the 1980s.
Three of the America's leading newspapers, the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times and the Washington Post, followed up with reports questioning Webb's conclusions. The San Jose Mercury News came under considerable pressure for publishing these stories and in 1997 Webb left the newspaper. Webb published Dark Alliance: The CIA, the Contras and the Crack Cocaine Explosion in 1998.
Webb worked in the California Assembly Speaker's Office of Member Services and for the Joint Legislative Audit Committee. In 2003 Webb began work for the Sacramento News and Review, a weekly publication.
Gary Webb was found dead at his home on 10th December, 2004. He had apparently committed suicide. Nick Schou, published to Kill the Messenger: How the CIA's Crack Cocaine Controversy Destroyed Gary Webb in 2006. This book was later turned into the movie. Kill the Messenger (2014).

The 2001 anthrax letter attacks in the United States killed five people and
wounded dozens. They were widely blamed on extremist Muslims and
their backers and used to support the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq.

They were also used to justify and hasten the passage of the USA
PATRIOT Act, which was being presented to Congress just as the first
anthrax victim grew ill.

In October 2001, one of the hypotheses that gained ground was that of
the Double Perpetrator, the claim that al-Qaeda was carrying out the
attacks with the support of Iraq. Much evidence was put forth to support
this Double Perpetrator hypothesis but independent scientists soon
discovered that the anthrax spores came from a domestic lab in the US
serving the military and intelligence communities, not from al-Qaeda or
Iraq.
The FBI then quickly claimed that an individual was responsible for the
attacks and began noisily looking for this lone wolf. In 2008 the Bureau
named Dr. Bruce Ivins of the US Army Medical Institute of Infectious
Disease as the anthrax killed. Although the FBI remains committed to
the Ivins hypothesis, the case has been disintegrating for the last three
years. Currently, it is justly held in contempt not merely by scientists who
worked with Ivins but by many journalists as well as several US senators.
But this raises the question: if Ivins did not commit this crime, who did?
This book presents evidence to support the following points:
(a) The anthrax attacks were carried out by a group of perpetrators, not
by a lone wolf. The attacks were, therefore, the result of a conspiracy
by definition a plan by two or more people, made in secret and resulting
in an immoral or illegal act.

(b) The group that carried out this crime consisted, in whole or in part, of
insiders deep within the US state apparatus.

(c) These insiders were the same people who planned the 9/11 attacks

(d) The anthrax attacks were meant to facilitate a seizure of power by the
executive branch of government through intimidation of Congress and
US civil society. They were also designed to achieve public acquiescence
to and support for the redefinition of US foreign policy, replacing the Cold
War with a new and aggressive global conflict framework, the Global War
on Terror.

Here is what the JUDGE said about this 1984-type of terminology inversion:
“CISA Director Jen Easterly views the word “infrastructure” expressively (sic) to include our “cognitive infrastructure,” which deals with the way people acquire knowledge and understanding.30”. with FN 30 being [Doc. No. 293 at 77]
In other words, CISA’s job was to protect infrastructure. But what it actually did was censorship. So director Jen Easterly called censorship the protection of critical infrastructure, by designating our minds as “critical infrastructure” and ‘protecting’ our minds by censoring information that might be harmful to them.
This is deceitful, devious and duplicitous in the extreme. Someone needs to go to jail, soon, for this little switcheroo.

The Chicago Police Department is extremely problematic, even by the extremely lax standards of US law enforcement. It has been home to a domestic black-site operation. It has been hit with reform mandates from federal courts. It has shown no interest in rooting out the worst of its officers. And it has engaged in a panoply of rights violations pretty much since its inception.
Roughly a decade ago, it agreed to a settlement with the ACLU and the multiple city residents it represented in a lawsuit against the city over illegal “stop and frisk” interactions. That settlement showed immediate results. But not every result was welcome.
The number of traffic stops in Chicago surged after the settlement with ACLU Illinois over stop-and-frisk pedestrian stops, while pedestrian stops fell from a high of 710,000 in 2014 to just 107,000 in 2016.

FBI agent sentenced for stalking, obstruction charges
FBI agent Ricky James Shelbourn has been sentenced for misdemeanor charges of stalking his ex-girlfriend and obstructing the officers investigating the allegations.
He has told the court he will appeal. The Municipal Court judge denied his request for a stay.
On the stalking charge, he was sentenced to 365 days in jail with 351 days suspended, leaving him with 14 days to be served before July 1. He also received 18 months of supervision and 40 hours of anger management, authorities said.

It will surprise nobody to learn that when politicians trumpet the First Amendment, they are generally referring only to expression that they agree with. But occasionally, they demonstrate their hypocrisy in a fashion so outrageously transparent that it shocks even the most cynical and jaded First Amendment practitioners. Last week, we were treated to just such an instance, courtesy of seven Republican Attorneys General. They deserve to be named, ignominiously: Todd Rokita (IN), Andrew Bailey (MO), Tim Griffin (AR), Daniel Cameron (KY), Raul Labrador (ID), Lynn Fitch (MS), and Alan Wilson (SC).
One of those names might stick out: Missouri AG Andrew Bailey. Last week, Bailey took a victory lap in Missouri’s lawsuit against the Biden administration: U.S. District Judge

We just got done noting how there’s not much the federal government can do about right wing propaganda outlets like Fox News, given their protections under the First Amendment and the general limitations (both legally and courageously) at regulators like the FCC.
But there is one thing that’s likely to cause some serious trouble for Fox News’: the continuing rise of cord cutting. A huge chunk of Fox News’ revenues technically come from consumers that don’t actually watch the channel, but pay for it through traditional, dated cable TV channel bundles.
Of the 70 million or so traditional cable TV subscribers, only about 17 percent of those actually watch Fox. Despite very often not even being watched, Fox nabs $1.8 billion a year — about fifty percent more than it makes off of advertising — from simply having its

The FBI’s efforts to mislead a federal court in order to wiretap an adviser to the Trump campaign were more extensive than previously reported, according to classified documents described to RealClearInvestigations.
The embattled bureau tried to hide its misconduct by redacting information about its actions under the guise that it involved sensitive intelligence information. RCI has learned that at least some of the redacted material, included in a “Classified Appendix” to Special Counsel John Durham’s final report, has nothing to do with protecting “sources and methods” and other “sensitive” investigative techniques. 
Instead, it covers up additional improper behavior by the FBI brass, which initiated and signed off on all four of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act applications to spy on former Trump adviser Carter Page and his contacts within the Trump campaign and presidency in 2016 and 2017.
For example, the FBI tried to justify continuing to spy on Page in early 2017 by indicating to the secret FISA court that it had verified a rumor about Page receiving dirt on Hillary Clinton from the Russian government and facilitating a “well-developed conspiracy of cooperation” with the Kremlin to swing the 2016 election in Trump’s favor. But the bureau had corroborated no such thing. Its source was a front-page report in the Washington Post – one the newspaper later retracted after determining it was false, according to two former U.S. officials who have seen the original, unredacted FISA applications and described the passages to RCI.  
The embarrassing revelation hasn’t been previously reported thanks to redactions blacking out references to the Washington Post article in the still-partially classified applications. The officials confirmed to RCI that the censored section covers up the FBI’s reliance on the bogus Post story, published in March 2017, as purported evidence supporting probable
