Robert Fisk says protests are against Ahmadinejad personally rather than proMoussavi, and that its the militia doing the violence rather than army or police; do they have First World shields and body armour? may none suffer in vain.

What possible reason would the Iranian police have English lettering on their uniforms? It doesn't make any sense, but I'm willing to entertain reasonable explanations.

I reckon they bought them wholesale from a Chinese manufacturer and haven't got round to / can't afford printing the stickers in Persian. But I like justdrew's idea of an international authoritarian Esperanto...
