'Cabin' sounds interesting... I read some promising reviews, and almost went on Friday, but it was opening night, and I didn't want to be in a theatre full of teenagers. Because if there was more than 5 minutes of adult content (meaning intelligent dialogue or exposition) in the midst of their expected torture porn, I assumed they'd start talking, texting and leaving their seats. The dark room would fill with phone fireflies.
So meta-meta-meta... choosing not to go to a film about manipulated young victims because of too much proximity to manipulated young victims.

The ultimate RI movie is It's A Wonderful Life, as long as you bear in mind that Clarence is a demonic alien tulpa.

Decades back, I stopped going to movies in theaters. My cover story was that I hated paying the money, sitting in the crowded seats and then missing several minutes of action when/if I had to go take a leak. The whole thing felt like a rip off to me.
The REAL story was that I always felt vaguely manipulated after coming out of the theater. Sometimes not so vaguely.
Guess I'm just one of those weirdos who really dislikes going to the movies.
On edit: I really enjoyed seeing The Sound of Music in the theater, though. Don't think I got up to take a leak once during that flick.

How on earth can you not mention Firefly?
Probably because I was too tired to think straight when I posted. It's one of my favorite TV series of all time and I loved Serenity too. Each time I rewatch them, I wonder how much Whedon actually knows about the mind control projects. Normally avoid horror movies, but may go see Cabin.

The first time I saw Serenity, because of a couple of phrases he used, I believed Whedon had to have some inside track on the programs or with a survivor. Now I think it was probably just the shock of seeing something so real to my life experience, yet so hidden, portrayed with some amount of fidelity on screen. If he's made something new, I'll probably go see it.
I still wish some of these folks who are making so much money off of these stories would put some of that to use in on the ground intervention programs or advocacy.

Yes. And I have a feeling that if Whedon spoke out publicly on the subject, just about all the people I know would finally sit up and listen...you know, the ones who earnestly sign petitions against human trafficking, but think it only happens in 3rd world countries?

Hm, I'd vote for The Parallax View. If you added some UFO's to it.
