Of course. All you have to do is equate the crimes of the Israeli state with the Jewish people generally, then you can play any tune you want, and no one will really notice the difference. It's very easy once you get the hang of it. Just position your fingers rightly on the instrument and blow as much smoke as you possibly can out of your ass.

This is a great thread, made almost perfect by the beautifully crafted original post. I enjoy seeing these difficult subjects (so often left unexamined by the fearful and weak) being deeply and probingly explored in the first six posts. Stunning stuff. You don't really see this level of analysis anywhere else.

"Die Welt is nicht schlecht, sondern voll." - Heiner Müller, sometime around 1991, when the world population was nearly two billion (in figures: 2,000,000,000) less than it is today.

- "The world is not bad, it's just full."

Land hasn't always been brutally contested, but it's certainly been contested for the past four or five thousand years, which has meant war. Of course, this tells us precisely nothing about "human nature" per se. But it does tell us something about human behaviour in increasingly cramped and contested conditions.

It is a bad thing to own no land, but it is in an even worse thing for anyone to own land in the first place.

I'm not even talking about the Jews.

They are a wise people.

But to all who still doubt and fear, I say this;

Don't you know you fell from Heaven like a Star?

Like a Star!

Yeah!

The Federation is composed of Free Unique Individuals from all the Galaxies and Galactic Quadrants in the Cosmos.

Shall we speak of Cosmos?

Ah the wise monkeys.

The outward looking of materialist orientation is not to be sneered at.

Hail Sagan.

At any rate; microcosmos, cosmos, macrocosmos.

Within and without.

As above so below.

Good green earth, and good blue sky. And just a little in between. Here in middle earth.

Balance, is a good key.

Equanimity too.

What is the secret of equanimity?

Hmm?

ps I never even read the gilad whatsit thread. I kinda guessed what it was all about. There will be no scapegoats. Who knows the action of Karma?

Good discussion, bad subject line.

I don't think Atzmon is what we talk about when we talk about Krishnamurti. And after the forum's latest near-death experience in our last Atzmon thread, I think I need to be clear upfront in this one: I'll regard advocacy here for Atzmon as a violation of RI's posting guidelines.

"I don't think Atzmon is what we talk about when we talk about Krishnamurti."

Yes Jeff, though Krishnamurti was referring to the tendency for the 'tribal' aspect to take dominance over the sense of common humanity in most people of all 'tribes', he was really intent on challenging the individual to see it in themselves and thus be at least in a position to adjust and become more representative of not only being more fully human, but a cosmic citizen even.

Btw, my reading of Krishnamurti gave me the understanding that all 'labels', including personal ones such as our names, naturally create a sense of difference, and are hence separative, but that one should always be aware of the underlying common nature that is shared with and is expressed in all that exists.

Son of man

This isnt about whatsisname, I don't read him, I don't know him.

This is about you.

And me.

This song is on my ipod.

It rocks.

Such a beautiful dream!

Sail down the stream
Such a beautiful dream
Never stopping never touching anything
Till dawn awakes you with a breath of the Spring

Far from the crowds
Way above the clouds
We can take you to the edge of the day
And show you living in a new kind of way

We'll take you floating to
A sea of morning dew

Where everyone's the same
And no one knows your name
And there you'll see that you can
Live your life to the extreme
Such a beautiful dream

Return to Fantasy.

That's the ticket.

Can't say that I disagree with your reading of Krishnamurti, Ben, but I tend to believe where and to whom a person is born is what separates us and fosters a true feeling of superiority in others.

Birth itself separates us even before we are named.

"Birth itself separates us even before we are named."

True from the dualisitic subjective perspective, but that's the challenge, is it possible to realize one is unique and ubique simultaneously...?

When the mortal mind's subject - object method of experiencing reality is transcended and the mind has ceased separating itself from reality through always employing a mental representation of it instead of the real thing, direct apprehension of reality is all there is, i.e. one is one with the underlying unity of the apparent multiplicity seen and experienced by the thinking mind.

The Cosmos is like a circle whose center is everywhere and whose circumference is nowhere...it's true!

I believe Atzmon will one day be considered one of the most important public intellectuals of the early 21st century, and I don't look forward to any of the potential reasons that I can foresee leading to this future re-assessment of his status.

Equality based on an ideal of non separation has to be enforced. Equality based on the reality of non separation is a celebration of our uniqueness.
