Are even we, who should all know better, going to get swept up into the pro-wrestling media mind-fuck known as the presidential selection farce?
There is no greater illusion of democracy.

You have perhaps selective amnesia regarding the selection of the current prick-in-chief? The fallout lasted for months, if not years, and he was vociferously defended by people here. Which is fine by me, the board wasn't totally backed up by the stuff. But yeah, there's bound to be some talk, sure.

Yeah I should have said "are we, here, going to get sucked into it yet again?"
It's really hard not to get sucked into it! It's treated very much like a sport, and sports seem harmless and fun.
I am trying to resist myself.
Hillary, NO!!! Jeb Bush, NO!!!!
(note to self: it doesn't matter and is not under our control anyway)

I'm going to get involved as far as begging every person I know to vote third party, or maybe some other as-yet-unforeseen radical solution.

What a fucking farce. I'm at a hotel right now and face the nation is on. Watching these loons is infuriating. I'm with Luther. Third party all the way. Never going to "win" as it is. But it would "send a message" that there is an actual left wing -- or something.

At this point I don't even care if people vote for some right wing constitutionalist or libertarian party that doesn't have much chance of winning, as long as it's a broad rejection of the duopoly. I'm not convinced left-of-democrats could demonstrate that message on our own.
I want to make it extremely obvious that the next administration was installed.

I'm sure you've noted, Nordic, that RI also serves as a sorta international complaint department? Without becoming bloodied, this is the only change we can effect, locally or nationally. Some believe the effort is worthwhile, while others bemoan their malaise without any effort at all.
You got something better to complain about we could discuss?
Everything about Hillary suggests compromise, lying and just-plain-wrong. I vote Elizabeth Warren and teens hunting each other, on horse with crossbows, at Yankee Stadium.
It is the manifest destiny of the USA to go to hell in a clown car.
The addage that what happens over there usually ends up over here sprang to mind. Need I expand visually?
Though the likeliest truth is that for the entire world, it was ever thus.
If it didnt feel quite as suffocating back then, its cos they didnt get the legal department properly organised for a few centuries more. Meanwhile, The odd withchunt here and there, incessant warfare, massacre and conquest, all the usual stuff.
