I happen to be "monitoring" several people's mental health as we speak and to no avail since they trust their doctors more than me -- they're on cocktails of psychiatric meds. They're actually both in Oregon as luck would have it.

It's safe to assume a mass shooting incident involves a male culprit; that's a given. The statistical distribution of white male mass shooters makes blaming crackers a safe bet, too.

Reactions to horrible news stories are visceral, not intellectual. One thing today's killing spree proved to everyone: whatever they woke up believing this morning, they were right. Details are fluid in the immediate aftermath of....you know....anything, so most of the commentary in this thread so far is a sentence or two; relaying the latest semi-official body count and signaling tribal allegiances. So it goes, yeah?

We have little sense of what happened, but yet it's remarkable how much we can be certain of, in terms of What Happens From Here.

There is a template for processing these trauma spectacle events. I look forward to the next 40 pages of this thread.

Okay I'm just gonna throw this out there, since this is RI.

The timing on this is rather interesting.

Consider this:

We just witnessed what is the biggest military and political blunder of my life time. And I'm not young. Obama and his idiot neo-con pals just had their ASSES handed to them by the rest of the world. This is possibly the most embarrassing event to ever happen to the United States.

The American populace hasn't even begun to understand the enormity of what just happened in Syria. It hasn't even started to sink in. And now it won't. Because just about the very day that people might have understood what really happened we have nutjob mass shooting at a school, something that has become so common as to be ludicrous.

Obama and the U.S. are in the position of defending Al Queda terrorists and admitting they funded and trained these enemies of the state in order to destabilize Iraq. Aiding and abetting the enemy, the very people they claim attacked us on 9-11 and who we have been fighting and killing for 14 giving years.

That is treason, pure and simple. The enormity of this is pretty fucking enormous. But it's not even the half of it.

The U.S. also just got played by Russia so hard, with Putin pulling the rug out from under them so wuickly and with such sudden force that their asses haven't even hit the ground yet. It's a glorious thing to witness, actually, with Russia suddenly in the drivers seat, destroying our terrorist proxy force and forcing the U.S. to admit that ISIS is indeed the US proxy force. Gosh no wonder we couldn't/wouldn't kill these fools.

I mean the U.S. just fucking completely imploded in the last five days over this. They admitted publicly all those they trained went right to ISIS, the money went to ISIS, their public plan to train and equip "moderate" terrorists publicly and humiliatingly exposed as a complete joke, then Germany - Germany!!! -- abandoning them and SUPPORTING RUSSIA!! -- then even the Chinese getting in on the act, bringing their aircraft carrier to Syria, and now the Russians own Syria with barely lifting a finger, and now Iran is going to help them as well? This is the biggest "go fuck yourself" I have EVER seen the U.S. have to eat, and the biggest humiliation I've ever seen, probably worse than throwing those helicopters into the ocean during the evacuation of Saigon.

And right when stupid Americans might have been starting to actually dimly comprehend this, we get this sudden release of a crazed gunman slaughtering a bunch of people here at home and there's the laser pointer making us cats completely lose our focus on this massive failure on the part of our government.

I'm just saying the timing is a little convenient.

Treason, failure, utter humiliation, total exposure as enemies of the state.

Drudge/Brietbart only scratch the surface of the right wing. It goes deeper than that. They have went subterranean because the left wing conquered cultural and media institutions.
