Summary
Vaccination elicits immune responses capable of potently neutralizing SARS-CoV-2. However, ongoing surveillance has revealed the emergence of variants harboring mutations in spike, the main target of neutralizing antibodies. To understand the impact of these variants, we evaluated the neutralization potency of 99 individuals that received one or two doses of either BNT162b2 or mRNA-1273 vaccines against pseudoviruses representing 10 globally circulating strains of SARS-CoV-2. Five of the 10 pseudoviruses, harboring receptor-binding domain mutations, including K417N/T, E484K, and N501Y, were highly resistant to neutralization. Cross-neutralization of B.1.351 variants was comparable to SARS-CoV and bat-derived WIV1-CoV, suggesting that a relatively small number of mutations can mediate potent escape from vaccine responses. While the clinical impact of neutralization resistance remains uncertain, these results highlight the potential for variants to escape from neutralizing humoral immunity and emphasize the need to develop broadly protective interventions against the evolving pandemic.

Following intensive consultations on the serious thrombotic events that have occurred in Germany and Europe, the Paul-Ehrlich-Institut recommends the temporary suspension of vaccinations with the COVID-19 vaccine AstraZeneca.

Compared to the status on 11 March 2021, additional cases (as of Monday, 15 March 2021) have now been reported in Germany. Analysing the new data status, the experts of the Paul-Ehrlich-Institut now see a striking accumulation of a special form of very rare cerebral vein thrombosis (sinus vein thrombosis) in connection with a deficiency of blood platelets (thrombocytopenia) and bleeding in temporal proximity to vaccinations with the COVID-19 vaccine AstraZeneca.

The data are being further analysed and evaluated by the European Medicines Agency (EMA).

Vaccinations with AstraZeneca's COVID-19 vaccine in Germany will be suspended until the EMA's evaluation is complete. Today's decision affects both initial and follow-up vaccinations.

The Paul-Ehrlich-Institut advises that individuals who have received AstraZeneca's COVID-19 vaccine and feel increasingly unwell more than four days after vaccination - for example, with severe and persistent headache or pinpoint bleeding of the skin - should seek medical treatment immediately."

If you don't collect the adverse event data, and you don't know the side effect rates, you can keep the data-free experimental vaccinations going. With no one the wiser
Here is a list of the eleven (count them!) different surveillance systems CDC said they would be using to get a quick and thorough idea of the adverse events from Covid vaccines.

In case you are wondering who is presenting this information, it is Nancy Messonier, MD, who is the Director of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases at the CDC. Want to know more about her? She was in charge of the failed PCR testing that CDC performed during January and February 2020, and lied to the public about the accuracy of the tests and about how many were being performed.



She is also Rod Rosenstein's sister. Trump fired Acting Attorney General Rosenstein, after Rosenstein finagled Trump into firing Comey, then suggested to Cabinet members they wear a wire to collect evidence against President Trump for a 25th Amendment (President is unable to perform the functions of his office) coup. While I am not a Trump cheerleader, I am even less fond of secret coups.

So, having failed at "standing up" an accurate PCR test for Covid and allowing the virus to circulate undetected in the US for 2 months, Messonier was then in charge of gathering information on the safety of Covid vaccines, where she was positioned for another spectacular fail.

Here are her current fails: CDC claims they have no surveillance method to collect and analyze all post-vaccine deaths. Unless the deaths are voluntarily reported to VAERS by a relative or healthcare professional, which is a haphazard, voluntary reporting mechanism, CDC knows nothing about them.

Well, 1500 deaths following Covid vaccines have been reported to VAERS. What is CDC doing about them? It says it is requesting medical records, but has assured us that none of the deaths have been absolutely shown to have been caused by the vaccines.

Even the White House requested an explanation after all the reported nursing home deaths. I have not heard what the explanation is yet. But since we have moved on to a new phase of vaccinating younger Americans, who appear to die less after vaccination, we probably will never learn to what the postvaccination deaths are being attributed.

That isn't the only CDC fail, despite CDC's supposed 11 different Covid vaccine surveillance systems. Those systems are generally based on access to medical records or insurance claims. But since the Covid vaccines are free and administered at large clinics, most vaccinations are not being entered into the medical record, nor are bills being generated for them. Apparently CDC forgot about this when they "stood up" these 11 surveillance systems ('stood up' was Dr. Messonier's term when describing her system, and I just find it amusing). So they cannot monitor the Covid experimental vaccine as they had promised.

And so despite between 50 and 100 million doses already administered in the US, we still know next to nothing about the rates of adverse events, rates of serious reactions and rates of vaccine-associated deaths.

And we continue to vaccinate, in a happily data-free environment.

What I am seeing happening in the world of Covid now

1.  A case was adjudicated in Weimar, Germany regarding the necessity of pandemic measures (and the actual occurrence of a dangerous pandemic) for children several months ago.  The plaintiffs won, and the Weimar government was ordered to dismantle its lockdown and school-based measures. 
Next, the judge was attacked, had electronics seized, was searched and possibly jailed.  This was a couple of months ago.
This week, 14 locations related to 8 people (the judge, another judge who was a friend of the first judge, the expert witnesses, the plaintiff and the plaintiff's partner were all searched and electronics were seized.  The best guess is that the German government is on a fishing expedition to build a case against the judge, witnesses etc. for some illicit behavior.  This is unprecedented lawlessness against the judicial system itself, in an attempt to over turn the first successful legal challenge to the pandemic response.  Very important case.  Consider supporting the defense of those who were attacked.
2.  The paper I wrote about earlier, published last week in the Vaccines journal was retracted, with no methodologic criticism, no inaccuracy alleged, simply because it found that for every 3 lives saved by vaccination, 2 are lost due to adverse reactions to the vaccine.
3.  The CDC's ACIP meeting made clear that CDC intends to begin booster shots in the fall, even without supportive evidence that they are needed or even beneficial.
4.  The Army Times and Navy Times have written that vaccinations for servicemembers will become mandatory in September, after the vaccines are fully licensed. One article claims only 15% of Army soldiers have taken the vaccine.
5.  CDC and FDA have dug their heels in to cover up the adverse reactions and hide the databases they use to determine actual adverse event rates.
6.  It is said that 500 colleges are requiring vaccinations of students and usually of staff as well.  Legal proceedings against these mandates have been threatened at U California, U Connecticut, U Indiana and Rutgers--interestingly, all state universities.
7.  People in Sydney, Australia went out to the parks and open areas yesterday despite instructions to stay home, enjoying the unseasonable warmth without masks. Will Australia's impossible "zero covid" policy remain standing?
8.  Governments appear to be testing the waters regarding what the population will tolerate vis a vis lockdown measures.
9.  The NEW BUSINESS ITEM #33 at the National Education Association’s (NEA) virtual assembly, which called for forced covid testing and vaccination of all students and staff to reopen schools in September, was overwhelmingly defeated. One post on twitter said 81% of the delegates voted no.  It seems the crowd is realizing there is almost no Covid in the US.
10.  Fourteen states offered lotteries up to 1 million dollars to encourage vaccinations.  The NYT reports there was a short burst in vaccinations then it ended, and at least 2 states have given up the lottery plan as it failed to continue to produce the desired increase in vaccinations.
11.  47% of the total US population has been vaccinated.  8% more had just one dose, and most of them stopped after one.  67% of those over 18 have had at least one dose of vaccine; 58% have had both doses.  It looks like this is where the numbers will stay.  I think 40% of US adults are going to remained unvaccinated, or have decided to stop after one dose.  How the government tries to corral this group into taking these dangerous vaccines will be interesting.
12.  In terms of estimating the magnitude of danger, Dr. Charles Hoffe had 900 vaccinated patients, and 10 became significantly ill after, and I think he said 5 became permanently disabled.
13.  The SIEU Nurse's union in the mid-Atlantic states, and the NY Nurses Association have come out against the vaccine mandates, which a number of hospitals have announced will be enforced once Covid vaccines are licensed.
14.  France has threatened to vaccinate everyone from age 24-59, maybe even everyone down to age 12.
15.  Three hundred healthcare workers in Italy have lodged a legal challenge against the requirement that they get vaccinated against coronavirus, according to media reports Saturday.
16.  Strangely, it has suddenly become easier for Americans to travel to many countries in Europe--at the same time that the Vaccien passport was rolled out, July 1.  It was said that there was utter confusion at airports about how to deal with vaccine passports.  It looks like the rollout was too precipitous.  But it is such an inviting concept for the rulers of the world, I doubt it will be shelved for long.

CDC/FDA/NEJM paper on pregnancy vaccinations

I (and several others it seems) failed to take into account the short 2.5 month period during which the data were collected for this study.  That means women vaccinated in their first or second trimester did not have enough time to have a full term pregnancy.  The early miscarriages were logged, but because the study only looked at completed pregnancy outcomes, no full-term births for those inoculated early in pregnancy had time to occur.

In its infinite Scientific™ wisdom, the city of Boston, Massachusetts just announced a new “vaccine passport” system set to take effect next month. This was one of the first major actions of the recently-elected mayor, Michelle Wu, who’d been hailed by many as a paradigm-shifter for her inspiring Progressive potential. Wu’s passport system is endearingly called “B Together,” because there’s nothing more emblematic of heartwarming communal “togetherness” than compulsory monitoring of medical activity by the government.
Waiters, front-desk clerks, and movie theater ushers will join “together” to carry out this very important epidemiological task. At first, the proof-of-vaccination requirement will apply to all individuals age 12 and up who wish to enter a covered venue — restaurants, museums, sports arenas, etc. — but children as young as five will be included by March. It has been so ordered.
The stated purpose of this system is “to address rising COVID-19 cases” in Boston caused by the “Omicron” variant. This seems a bit strange, because what we’ve been told is supposed to be so alarming about “Omicron” (pronounced “Oh, c’mon”) is that it’s extra transmissible — with rapid viral spread observed even among those who are fully vaxxed and “boosted” out the wazoo, drowning in daily “rapid tests,” and quadruple-masked at the first sign of human contact. These measures have evidently not succeeded in curtailing the exponential spread. Nonetheless, the hammer is about to come down hard again on “The Unvaccinated,” allegedly because they pose such a unique transmission threat. If you don’t quite follow the logic there, you simply must not understand The Science, dummy.
Though the “booster” is not yet required for compliance with this system, Bisola Ajikutu, the head of the Boston Public Health Commission, offered a pertinent clarification at a press conference Monday: “We will adjust the policy as needed when the definition of fully vaccinated changes.” Got that? The people who run these “public health” bureaucracies reserve the right to perpetually modify what it means to be “fully vaccinated,” and therefore add future injections at their pleasure.
“It is the unvaccinated that are killing us right now,” bellowed Joseph Curtatone, the mayor of Somerville, MA, who appeared at the press conference alongside Wu and pledged to implement a comparable system in his own jurisdiction. Also tr

Biography
Kristina Borjesson spent most of her childhood in Haiti in the 1950s and '60s during the rule of the brutal dictator, "Papa Doc" Duvalier.  Her father, a U.S. military attaché posted to the island, fell in love with a woman whose family formed part of the country's privileged, business elite.  As a young child in what is often described as the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere, Borjesson's early sensitivity to the vast divide between Haiti's elite and its poor came from the illiterate household staff who loved and cared for her. Those servants helped shape her value system, teaching her that honesty, striving for excellence, and service to others were the keys to a meaningful life.
As an adult, Borjesson's core identity became that of a public servant. An investigative reporter by training, she believes that journalists are public servants no matter who employs them and that by adhering to the highest standards and practices of reporting, they play a critical role in the function of democracy and civil society.  Since receiving her journalism degree from Columbia University in 1982, Borjesson has spent much of her time examining censorship and corruption in American journalism. Unfortunately, her tireless pursuit of these stories would cost her a mainstream television career.  
Early success came to Borjesson as she built her career. She employed her investigative skills and fluency in Haitian Creole to field produce the PBS Frontline's documentary, "Showdown in Haiti," which was Emmy-nominated.  She won an Emmy for her investigative reporting on CBS's "Legacy of Shame," a piece that updated Edward R. Murrow's film "Harvest of Shame" about migrant farmworkers. Another Emmy nomination followed for a biographical film about Cuba's Fidel Castro titled "The Last Revolutionary."  
Then, in 1996, Borjesson "walked into a buzz saw," as she describes it, when Paris-bound TWA Flight 800 exploded in mid-air shortly after taking off from JFK Airport. For a short, but terrifying time, she thought that her ten-year-old son had died in the crash. The despair she felt in that moment would, once she began investigating the explosion, help her empathize with the victims and their families, who, she believed, deserved to know the truth about what had caused the tragedy.
As she tracked down the cause of the explosion, what had happened became very clear: The physical evidence as well as hundreds of eyewitness accounts indicated that the plane had been struck by a missile.  Members of several U.S. government agencies, Borjesson decided, orchestrated a cover-up while unquestioning journalists reported as fact the untenable official claims that a mechanical failure in Flight 800's center wing fuel tank had caused the crash.  The evidence of what she identifies as "high level, multi-agency collusion" led her to a startling revelation: "It was just as in Orwell's 1984, an immediate rewriting of history occurred.  I realized how terrifyingly easy it is to do."  
Powerful forces including the Pentagon, the CIA, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), as well as other journalists aligned themselves against Borjesson.  Despite this, she has spent the better part of two decades digging for the truth about TWA Flight 800 and speaking out against corruption in journalism.  
Back in 1996, Borjesson's boss at CBS Network assigned her to cover the crash. However, shortly after Borjesson received a piece of physical evidence from inside the official crash investigation, the FBI demanded it back, inaccurately claiming it had been stolen. CBS returned the evidence and terminated Borjesson. Then Borjesson was hired to produce a segment about problems within the official crash investigation for a series pilot commissioned by ABC. Mainstream press reports claiming Borjesson's segment would  examine whether or not a missile had downed flight 800 appeared suddenly, prompting ABC to cancel the entire series. 
Borjesson responded by publishing her first book, Into the Buzzsaw: Leading Journalists Expose the Myth of a Free Press (2004), a landmark anthology of essays written by experienced reporters (including Borjesson) detailing experiences with censorship while covering major stories.  The book, which won both the National Press Club's Arthur Rowse Award for Press Criticism and the Independent Book Publisher's Gold Medal Award, established Borjesson as an important whistleblower in the journalism community.  
In 2005, Borjesson further cemented her status as a whistleblowing journalist with her book, Feet to the Fire: The Media After 9 11 -- Top Journalists Speak Out. An anthology of interviews with news executives and journalists (some of them household names), this book explains why these media professionals and most of the U.S. press missed the fact that Pentagon and White House officials had fabricated their justification for invading Iraq when they claimed, falsely, that Saddam Hussein possessed weapons of mass destruction.  Feet to the Fire won Borjesson a second Independent Book Publisher's Gold Medal Award.
In her work, Borjesson says that not only institutions should be held accountable for their wrongdoings, but so should the individuals within those institutions who are directly responsible for betrayals of the public trust.  Particularly troubling to Borjesson is the fact that so many people are capable of putting aside the ethical values of honesty and integrity when they go to work.
In 2013, seventeen years after TWA Flight 800 blew up in the air, Borjesson released the documentary TWA Flight 800. The film features six whistleblowers -- all members of the original crash investigation -- who review the physical evidence they personally handled, interview eyewitnesses, and explain what really happened to the airplane.  The film reveals how several U.S. Government agencies, particularly the FBI, CIA and NTSB, colluded to undermine the official investigation. Borjesson and Dr. Tom Stalcup (the co-producer and senior science advisor for the documentary) display persistence and tenacity in their quest to understand the relevant science and make it comprehensible for the public.
While Borjesson wrote, produced, and directed the documentary, the work is a team effort, underscoring her appreciation for teams of experts, first-hand sources and journalists "holding hands and working together" on complicated, controversial stories.
Borjesson has joined other whistleblowers and advocates at the Government Accountability Project (GAP) to speak publicly about the importance of unfettered, professional and honest journalists who reject official source reporting as insufficient. Borjesson exhorts journalists to verify the statements of official sources no matter how powerful they are, even if it means, as happened with her, paying a price.

Pfizer CEO says 4th shot needed, while Europe's FDA says doing so risks "overloading the immune system" and might damage your immunity. Who would you trust?
Pfizer's Bourla says we need a 4th shot. Pfizer sold $36.8 billion dollars' worth of COVID vaccines in 2021, making its vaccine the top-selling pharmaceutical product in history. Pfizer has estimated its COVID vaccine sales for 2022 at $32 billion.

Albert Bourla says we need a 4th dose of his magic money-making elixir, but his company is also working on a universal coronavirus vaccine (a 2nd magic elixir), which we will only need once a year.

Albert Bourla, PhD, CEO of Pfizer, said a second booster shot of the COVID-19 vaccine is necessary for protection against infection, according to a March 13 interview with CBS News.

Dr. Bourla said the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine provides protection from hospitalization and death, but "it's not that good against infections" and the protection is relatively short-lived. Pfizer is preparing data for the FDA about the need for a fourth dose.

"Many variants are coming," Dr. Bourla told CBS. "And omicron was the first one that was able to evade in a skillful way the immune protection that we were giving. But also, in all that the duration of the protection, it doesn't last very long.”

...In February, the CDC published a study showing the efficacy of booster shots of Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines waned after about four months, but still provided significant protection from hospitalizations during the omicron surge.

Dr. Bourla also told CNBC that Pfizer is developing a vaccine that will protect against all COVID-19 variants, including omicron, for at least a year. He expects to review data from trials on the long-term vaccine by the end of the month.

But Dr. Marco Cavaleri, a top regulator at Europe's FDA, called the European Medicines' Agency (EMA), says this may weaken the immune response. According to Reuters:

The European Union's drug regulator on Tuesday expressed doubts about the need for a fourth booster dose of COVID-19 vaccine and said there is currently no data to support this approach as it seeks more data on the fast-spreading Omicron variant.

"While use of additional boosters can be part of contingency plans, repeated vaccinations within short intervals would not represent a sustainable long-term strategy," the European Medicines Agency's Head of Vaccines Strategy, Marco Cavaleri, told a media briefing.

The EMA official raised concerns that a strategy of giving boosters every four months hypothetically poses the risk of overloading people's immune systems and leading to fatigue in the population.

Cavaleri also said more data on the impact of the new variant on vaccines and a better understanding of the evolution of the current wave were needed to decide whether an Omicron-specific vaccine was needed.

"It is important that there is a good discussion around the choice of the composition of the vaccine to make sure that we have a strategy that is not just reactive ... and try to come up with an approach that will be suitable in order to prevent a future variant," he said.

The EMA said it was currently in conversation with vaccine developers in case there is a need for an updated vaccine but added that any such change would need to be coordinated globally.

Official documents reveal huge gap between what FDA and Pfizer would attest to, compared to what the public was told about the vaccine
The label for COMIRNATY is a legal document updated on 12/20/21:

1. CDC made the false claim on its website that anaphylactic reactions occur at rates approximately the same after COVID vaccines as other vaccines. I just looked for the citation and see the claim has recently been removed. Now, CDC informs us that "safeguards are in place" in case you do develop anaphylaxis after a COVID shot.

The Comirnaty label and CDC website make plain that administration of the vaccine is limited to only those facilities able to medically manage anaphylactic reactions. This is not the case for other vaccines.

A study from Harvard hospitals (where the CDC Director worked till Jan 2021) showed the rate of anaphylaxis, using standard criteria, in vaccinated employees, was about 50-100 times higher than the rate claimed by CDC, which happens to be the rate calculated by VAERS (in which underreporting by a factor of 10 to 100 is believed to occur). I wrote about this in the Defender in January 2021 and revealed how CDC used inappropriate and inadequate data to derive such a low rate.

2. While the CDC website suggests episodes of myocarditis are mild and resolve quickly, the label plainly states, "Information is not yet available about potential long-term sequelae."

3. CDC encourages vaccination during pregnancy. What the label says is, "available data on COMIRNATY administered to pregnant women are insufficient to inform vaccine associated risks in pregnancy."

4. It has been claimed that COMIRNATY and other vaccines could not possibly cause or stimulate cancer or cause fertility problems. What does the label say? "COMIRNATY has not been evaluated for the potential to cause carcinogenicity, genotoxicity, or impairment of male fertility."

Around the time that FDA gave the Pfizer vaccine an EUA at warp speed, on December 11, 2020, an EUA review memorandum was written, which I discuss below

1. Although people who had already had COVID were encouraged and sometimes forced to be vaccinated, the document states, "very few cases of confirmed COVID-19 occurred among participants with evidence of infection prior to vaccination. Therefore, available data are insufficient to make conclusions about benefit in individuals with prior SARS-CoV-2 infection."

2. Although FDA gave Pfizer an authorization to vaccinate everyone aged 16 and up on December 10, 2020, the document points out, "only one confirmed COVID-19 case was reported in this age group." In other words, there were no data to support efficacy in the 16 and 17 year olds. No wonder 4 members of the FDA advisory committee voted no, and one abstained from supporting authorization. My suspicion is that 16 and 17 year olds were needed in order to put COVID vaccines on CDC's recommended childhood schedule, despite lack of supporting data, so FDA pushed it through.

And sure enough, CDC had its Advisory Committee vote (13-1) to put the vaccine on the childhood schedule in August 2021. This will provide it a different form of liability protection, and opens the door to future mandates to attend school.

However, I just searched and failed to find evidence that the vaccine was actually added. Very interesting.

3. Even though the spectre of asymptomatic infections drove masks, social distancing, school closures, working from home, etc. etc., apparently FDA did not require Pfizer to test its vaccine to see if it prevented asymptomatic infection. The document states, "Data are limited to assess the effect of the vaccine against asymptomatic infection."

4. The entire point of vaccinating to achieve herd immunity was allegedly to prevent spread from person to person. How is it possible that neither FDA nor Pfizer sought out evidence that the vaccine prevented transmission? The report states, "Data are limited to assess the effects of the vaccine against transmission of SARS-CoV-2 from individuals who are infected despite vaccination."

5. The biggest concern of scientists everywhere, including Fauci, was the potential that the vaccine might cause enhanced coronavirus disease, a prooblem that had occurred occasionally with new vaccines and had occurred with a coronavirus vaccine prototype. LIsten to what the report says: one 'could' conduct such studies in future: "Available data do not indicate a risk of vaccine – enhanced disease, and conversely suggest effectiveness against severe disease within the available follow-up period. However, risk of vaccine-enhanced disease over time, potentially associated with waning immunity, remains unknown and needs to be evaluated further in ongoing clinical trials and in observational studies that could be conducted following authorization and or licensure."

I am reposting this NYT article as it is one of several I blogged about last year regarding the large numbers of doses of COVID vaccines governments were buying, when they ought to have had no idea how much they would need...and certainly not 2.1 billion doses for the USA with resale forbidden. What did they know and when? Was the whole bloody pandemic an excuse to keep giving us "boosters" of something, and/or to create a reason we would need vaccine passports, to keep up with the boosters?

I can think of no benign explanations for this--if you know of one, please post it.

USG buys too much vaccine. Governments Sign Secret Vaccine Deals: Here’s What They Hide/ NYT
Check out this NY Times article published today. The US government is buying much more vaccine than is needed for every American. But it also has signed contracts restricting the overseas sale of some of its purchases. So if it can't be sold, why is the government committed to buying so much? Is the plan to give everyone frequent boosters? The contracts are extremely secret.

Multibillion-dollar contracts give drug makers liability shields, patent ownership and leeway on delivery dates and pricing — and promises that much of it will not be made public.

When members of the European Parliament sat down this month to read the first publicly available contract for purchasing coronavirus vaccines, they noticed something missing. Actually, a lot missing.

The price per dose? Redacted. The rollout schedule? Redacted. The amount of money being paid up front? Redacted.

And that contract, between the German pharmaceutical company CureVac and the European Union, is considered one of the world’s most transparent.

Governments have poured billions of dollars into helping drug companies develop vaccines and are spending billions more to buy doses. But the details of those deals largely remain secret, with governments and public health organizations acquiescing to drug company demands for secrecy.

Just weeks into the vaccination campaign, that secrecy is already making accountability difficult. The drug companies Pfizer and AstraZeneca recently announced that they would miss their European delivery targets, causing widespread concern as dangerous virus variants spread. But the terms of their contracts remain closely guarded secrets, making it difficult to question company or government officials about either blame or recourse.

Available documents, however suggest that drug companies demanded, and received, flexible delivery schedules, patent protection and immunity from liability if anything goes wrong. In some instances, countries are prohibited from donating or reselling doses, a ban that could hamper efforts to get vaccines to poor countries.

Governments are cutting at least three types of vaccine deals: Some are buying directly from pharmaceutical companies. Others are buying through regional bodies like the European Union or the African Union. Many will turn to the nonprofit Covax program, an alliance of more than 190 countries, which is buying from the drug makers with an eye toward making vaccines available worldwide, especially to poor countries free or at reduced cost. Some governments have signed deals with manufacturers and Covax alike.

The United States has secured 400 million doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines, enough for 200 million people, and is close to arranging 200 million additional doses by summer, with options to buy up to 500 million more. It also has advance purchase agreements for more than 1 billion doses from four other companies whose inoculations do not yet have U.S. regulatory approval.

The European Commission, the European Union’s executive branch negotiating on behalf of its 27 member states, has nearly 2.3 billion doses under contract and is negotiating for about 300 million more, according to data collected by UNICEF and Airfinity, a science analytics company...

Covax says it has agreements for just over 2 billion vaccine doses although it, too, is keeping its contracts secret. Only about a dozen of the 92 countries that qualify for vaccine subsidies under the alliance have managed to secure separate deals with individual companies, for a combined 500 million doses.

The CureVac contract, for example, prohibits European countries from reselling, exporting or donating doses — including to Covax — without permission from the company. Some contracts in the United States have similar restrictions...

Companies Get Liability Protection

In the United States, drug companies are shielded from nearly all liability if their vaccines don’t work or cause serious side effects. The government covered Covid-19 drug makers under the PREP Act, a 2005 law intended to speed up access to medicine during health emergencies.

That means that people cannot sue the companies, even in cases of negligence or recklessness. The only exceptions are cases of proven, “willful misconduct.”

Drug companies are seeking similar liability waivers in negotiations with other countries... The CureVac-E.U. contract does shield the company from significant liability, but with exceptions. Those exceptions are redacted...

Interview: War in Ukraine Is Really About U.S. Pursuing Regime Change in Russia




Interview with Bruce Gagnon by Finian Cunningham (Strategic Culture Foundation)

The corporate-dominated media (that lied us into the 2003 “shock and awe” attack on Iraq over non-existent WMD) is trotting out the same strategy again to sell war and deceive the public American peace activist, documentary filmmaker and author Bruce Gagnon analyses the current war in Ukraine with a critical bigger picture of political and strategic context that is so woefully – and deliberately – missing in Western media.

In the following interview, Gagnon points out that the Russian military intervention in Ukraine that began on February 24 can only be properly understood by viewing it as a response to eight years of relentless military assault by the NATO-backed Kiev regime against the ethnic Russian population of the Donbass region. Nearly 14,000 people were killed by the NATO-backed Kiev regime and its Russian-hating Nazi regiments. Where were Western government and media condemnations?


Interview

Finian Cunningham: The U.S. Congress is set to pass a Lend-Lease Act that will greatly increase the supply of weapons to Ukraine purportedly to help defend that country from “Russian aggression”. This is while negotiations are underway between Ukraine and Russia to find a peace settlement to the conflict. Is Washington trying to strengthen Kiev’s negotiating hand or is the United States aiming to prolong the war?

Bruce Gagnon: Using the 2019 Rand Corp study called ‘Overextending and Unbalancing Russia’ as a guide, the U.S.-NATO obviously do not want negotiations between Ukraine and Russia to flourish. Their interest is in creating a festering sore along Russia’s border forcing Moscow to spend more of its national treasury on the military and on rebuilding the massively destroyed Russian-ethnic Donbass region in eastern Ukraine. The Donbass destruction was largely due to Ukrainian army shelling for over eight years since the U.S.-orchestrated coup in Kiev in 2014.

Question: In passing the Lend-Lease Act, the U.S. Senate cited allegations of genocide and the massacre of civilians in the Ukrainian city of Bucha by Russian troops as justification for the legislative go-ahead for more American weapons to Ukraine. Russia categorically denies the allegations while several independent analysts have pointed to evidence that the gruesome killings were a false-flag provocation carried out by Ukrainian forces in order to incriminate Russia. What is your view of the Western media reports on the Bucha massacre?

Bruce Gagnon: I have studied the Bucha story quite closely and it is more than obvious that this was one more false flag by the U.S.-NATO-Ukrainian axis. The timelines point to this being such. Russian troops left Bucha on March 30. On March 31, the mayor of Bucha put out a video where he excitedly and proudly proclaimed that Russian troops had left. On April 1, a woman who serves as a Bucha City Council Deputy made a similar video proclaiming victory over the Russians. Neither of those two city leaders made any reference to a massacre or bodies in the streets which would have been more than obvious at that point. On April 2, Ukrainian forces retook control of Bucha. On April 3, Western media began reporting on the alleged massacre.

There have been repeated attempts by the U.S.-NATO-Ukrainian side to claim that Russia was killing civilians but each story has turned out to be lacking a factual basis. The latest attempt was the Ukrainian army shelling Kramatorsk using a Tochka-U missile on April 8. Dozens of civilians were killed and up to 100 wounded. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky was quick to blame Russia although the Tochka-U missile is an outdated technology that is no longer used by Russia and ample evidence shows that it has been a favorite weapon used by the Nazi-led Kiev regime’s army to repeatedly shell the Donbass region.

Additionally, Kramatorsk is in the Russian-ethnic region of eastern Ukraine that Russia is trying to liberate from the Nazi-led army of Kiev. It makes no sense that Russia would kill their own people.

It is said that every criminal has a Modus Operandi (MO) – a way of repeating their bad behavior. I think it is safe to say that Ukraine is losing this war and has resorted to an MO to create false flags in order to turn public opinion against Russia with hopes that U.S.-NATO will then fully enter the war on the Kiev regime’s side. So Ukraine has replaced actual offensive military operations (which they are no longer really capable of) with false-flag events as their primary strategy to vilify and defeat Russia.

Question: You have said that the war in Ukraine is not merely about Ukraine and Russia in isolation, but rather represents a front line in a bigger confrontation between the U.S.-led NATO bloc on one hand and Russia and China on the other. Are you saying this is a proxy war?
 
Bruce Gagnon: There can be no doubt that this war is being waged on behalf of a larger mission – regime change in Russia that the West hopes would allow for the breaking up of Russia into smaller nations similar to what U.S.-NATO did to Yugoslavia following the 1999 American-led attack on Belgrade. The goal is for Western resource extraction corporations to take control of Russia’s vast landmass and most importantly its huge resource base that includes natural gas, oil, timber, agricultural lands and vital mineral deposits. With the melting of the Arctic ice, it will increasingly become possible to “drill-baby-drill” for offshore resources under the sea that has long been covered in thick layers of ice. It’s no coincidence that at the same time this war started, the U.S.-NATO began holding a war game called ‘Cold Response’ in the north of Norway which borders Russia’s Arctic region.

U.S. President Joe Biden, in one of his confused moments, blurted out in a recent speech in Warsaw that “Putin had to go”. I am more than certain that during many of the National Security Council meetings in Washington this has long been a key agenda item.

In the past 500 years, Russia has been invaded several times from the West. The Poles came across the European Plain in 1605, followed by the Swedes under Charles XII in 1707, the French under Napoleon in 1812, and the Germans twice, in both world wars, in 1914 and 1941. Every 100 years, the West makes its move and fails.

China is also on the regime-change list of the West, and due to the new economic and military pact between Russia and China, it becomes essential to take out Russia first before going after China. The United States is currently using Taiwan in a similar way to how it has used Ukraine as a tool of destabilization.

Question: Russia has said it hopes that the war in Ukraine will be finished soon. But from what you are saying, there is a real danger that the conflict could be spun out for much longer due to U.S., British and NATO arms being supplied to Ukraine. Is this prolongation of the war what galvanizes Washington and London’s calculus and policies?

Bruce Gagnon: The vested interests inside the U.S.-EU military-industrial complex stand to make massive profits if this war can be extended for months, or even years. I believe that this is the intent of Washington-Brussels. By getting NATO members to ship outdated military hardware to Ukraine, the Western military manufacturers are salivating as they imagine replacing those stocks of weapons with the latest technologies that must be “interoperable” with Pentagon space-directed war-fighting capabilities. What this translates to over time is a vast high-tech global war machine. Don’t forget that NATO is also going international as they sign up “partners” in Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Japan and others in the Asia-Pacific. In this “mission vision”, the U.S. would be in charge of the “tip of the spear” and will have had NATO members and partners help pay for it all. NATO’s job is to ultimately force submission to Western corporate demands. They declare they are a “peace alliance” yet their history is nothing but endless war.
 
Question: Do you think there is an even bigger picture to the U.S.-led NATO confrontation with Russia? That is, the bigger battle is to stave off the historic decline in the American-dominated Western economic system? Russia and China have consistently hailed the advent of a multipolar world based on cooperation and partnership. The United States seems deeply opposed to this vision, claiming that Moscow and Beijing undermine a so-called “rules-based global order”. Why does Washington object to a multi-polar vision? What is it about American power that demands unipolar dominance, fealty, or war?
 
Bruce Gagnon: The U.S. and NATO are an insecure and desperate military war machine. They are the muscle for the Western-run corporate globalization syndicate. They know their days are numbered as the dominant Western imperial powers that have ruled most of the world for hundreds of years.

It reminds me of a drunken riverboat gambler rolling the dice – knowing that he has lost everything but still going for broke one last time. Washington and the EU clearly understand that the rising multi-polar world is unstoppable – when you add up the population numbers this rising tide is the vast majority of the world’s population. So the U.S.-NATO know this is their last-ditch chance to try to remain in control of the planet. Washington-London-Paris-Berlin-Brussels want total power and control and are willing to burn any nations to the ground that stand in their way.

Obviously, China, Russia, Iran, India, and others across the global South understand all of this. They have suffered at the hands of the U.S.-Europe long enough. They are moving to help create this multi-polar world – what one Russian leader recently called a “Fair World Order” not run by Wall Street, the Bank of England, the IMF and World Bank. The question for all of us is: will the U.S.-NATO be willing to take this drive to remain in control to World World III that could then quite possibly turn nuclear? Those so-called “peaceniks” out in the streets waving Ukrainian flags ought to ask themselves if they are in fact inadvertently helping to push things in that horrific direction.

Question: In the reporting on the Ukraine war and the prelude to it, would you agree that Western news media seem to have more openly embraced the function of a propaganda system, peddling intelligence disinformation to distort the nature of the conflict with Russia?

Bruce Gagnon: The Western media is all in when it comes to demonizing Russia and helping to escalate this war. Just days ago while driving, I turned on NPR (National Public Radio) and heard one “correspondent” claim that Russian troops had raped young girls in Bucha.

Have we forgotten the groundbreaking U.S. Senate committee hearings in 1975 on the CIA’s control of the media? Those hearings were led by Senator Frank Church (D-ID). At the time, it was disclosed that 400 journalists worldwide were submitting news stories on behalf of the CIA. Operation Mockingbird it was called. Look it up on the internet. I don’t think the videos from those congressional hearings have been removed yet on YouTube. I’d bet my life that the so-called “Bucha rape story” was produced by the agency.

Just last week we learned from an NBC-TV report that U.S. intelligence agencies were putting out false stories about Russia in order to “preempt” Moscow “from doing something bad”. The corporate-dominated media (that lied us into the 2003 “shock and awe” attack on Iraq over non-existent WMD) is trotting out the same strategy again to sell war and deceive the public. And when you factor in all the efforts of corporate-owned social media outlets to take down alternative views on the Ukraine war it becomes clear that the Number One goal is the brainwashing of the public.

Are we heading to WW III?

The West has essentially declared an all-out war on Russia. Instead of calling for a negotiated end to the conflict, Washington, London, Berlin, Paris and Brussels are looking to sustain the Ukrainian war effort.
 
So, we need to ask: What is the West’s policy goal in all of this?
