It worked! I don't bother with snapping but took this yonks ago, with my cell I think. Haven't seen the sky quite like it - there were other rainbows going on right around the sky at the same time - a scattered showery spring day...

One fjord over from where I live, but still within county lines:

Re: Pictures of your locale

I humbly submit my backyard! Maybe the strange 8-foot-tall invasive plants arriving two summers ago will die under this May 26th snow?
The pictures on this site are breathtaking and so engaging I'm glued to the chair in my bedroom, a terrible hostess as the fragrance of coffee drifts up the stairs. I just went on the most wonderful journey from beginning to end, places I've visited, places I want to visit! Norway beckons me, the tip of Africa scares me a little, and oh how dearly I miss my old stomping grounds; "you can have a ball with a girl from Dana Hall"!
Thank you everyone!

DrEvil, are you serious? If so, I am wildly jealous.

Here's a few more from the area:
This is up in the mountains. We have a cabin on the right

This is from the valley that starts down just beyond the horizon in the previous picture. Notice the guy with the horses. This was the only way to get east back then. We actually had real cowboys up until the 1950's, collecting cattle from the surrounding villages and driving them across the mountains to the larger markets in the east.

Same valley (Aurlandsdalen, dalen = valley), early 1900

My kind of weather. I live in the small cluster on the left.

The Flåm railway, our main tourist draw and the reason I don't have to take any pictures myself
One more from the Flåm valley. This is a student from the ecological farm school. They still use horses for farm work, which is pretty awesome (and slightly unethical

Wow, DrEvil, I am so officially jealous of that!!
How do I move to Norway? I visited it as a child and found it to be the most beautiful place I'd ever seen, and I still think that about the place.
Plus people ask me if I'm from there anyway, so I might as well move there, right??
