I only found the forum when Jeff stopped blogging (such a shame - and maybe why there is very little new blood in the forums) and find the subjects on GD either too political, or contain massive threads that I don't have time to read through, even this i only got to p5. I enjoy high strangeness, a bit of woo and unusual things and these topics seem to be in short supply - what drew me to RI initially was Jeff's writing but the forum now , imo, doesn't reflect what the blog use to cover.#

Hahaha. Same here, lucky. Being simple minded, other folk inhabiting this place intimidate me, too. I'd like to think I've learned a lot simply by being here. My posts are usually just lame attempts at sarcasm or asking for clarification on sump'm'. My ADD keeps me from making it through the mega-threads. But I try to glean bits and pieces from them.

I love this place, because I feel like I "fit" here, my limited intellect not withstanding. I suspect that shit is different than what TPTB tell us it is. I can come here and have that confirmed.

Lads and ladies, nobody has a "limited intellect" ever. I really wish I could get wildlife to post somehow. That's one of the things that bothers me about humans "vs" animals. I try and talk to every animal I see. Seriously, I ask them how they're doing and what's up type shit. Look into their eyes and try and communicate. I'm sure it looks stupid as fuck. But anytime I see an animal I attempt to communicate with it. . .

I do the same with animals, especially cats. There seems to be such a depth to cats. They have shit to do and they are single minded about doing it.

Cats seem to gravitate towards me. Everywhere I walk, some cat or other comes out to greet me. I talk with them, and then scratch their backs and bellies. We go our separate ways, but happier for the encounter (I hope the cat does, anyway).

Don't you see what happens after that? Twenty motherfuckers from Stormfront and whatnot eventually find a home here to talk about the Jew animals on 80% of the threads, and they can debate their racist brethren from the KKK about whether the Arab animals are worse.
It's really unfortunate that there are probably individuals here who would be ok with this kind of scenario unfolding.

AD: "It's really unfortunate that there are probably individuals here who would be ok with this kind of scenario unfolding."

What is this presumption based on? One forum member posts something that clearly crosses a line, and now there is talk of others here "probably" being "ok" with similar sentiments permeating this forum?

I'm more concerned with the potential trajectory of THAT line of thought rather than a single anomaly.

Scratch that -- I'm not very concerned, actually (it's an f'ing forum, after all -- words on a screen), but I can understand others here with certain interests in the livelihood of this forum being concerned.

There appears to be a common presumption here that those of this forum are generally 'above the fray' with respect to the rabble on the interwebs, but I would presume there's also an understanding that the increased frequency of objectionable comments/thoughts (on the web) are directly proportionate to the egregiousness of ongoing events. As these events -- and the repercussions of said events -- escalate, so to will 'untoward' thoughts/comments from those not as 'enlightened' as the fine folks of RI.

It may be inevitable that a tiny sliver of such thoughts will make their way into this forum on occasion. It goes without saying -- as the forum rules clearly indicate -- that there should be no tolerance of any hate and/or fascist-based commentary. But it should also go without saying that baseless* finger-pointing will do nothing to further the cause of forum livelihood.

*fixed to avoid potential confusion.

The assumption is incorrect- that is not what my statement was based on. I've spent a lot of years here and have been privy to the posted thoughts of many posters- some of them long gone, some new, and all shades in between...

Or in other words, finger point. I have no desire to be lively here with cryptofascists. Fuck that shit. I'll point the finger at that.

I made no such inference otherwise, strawman, I mean - er, brainpan. Pehaps another reading will clear it up for ya.

I was referring to AD's allusion to others in the forum being "ok" with 'cryptofascist' sentiment. Seems baseless to me.

Racism is everywhere- as are right wing ideas in general. It is part of the atmosphere.

Rigorous Intuition is by no means separate from all this- and deservedly notorious posters have come and gone here- again and again and again...

There are always various shades of gray and personal contradictions- and the norm is to not be fully open and revealing about racist and/or far right sympathies...

Quite right, although from all accounts, the threat of people plying RI with ARG related crap would appear historically to have been much more serious than all the virulent far right contagion epidemics of RI put together.

Similarly, AD, Hasbara operatives and their foot soldiers (or should I say footwear) do not always make their presence directly known. One needs to look at what they do NOT post about as well as what they DO post about, within the Mid East context. Part of hasbara activities are to engage in jamming information channels where there is serious communication and analysis happening.
Their resources playbook is sophisticated, though this Gaza offensive has left them much more exposed.

Do not give up just yet, @Elvis and @Brandon.

In the journey to re-creating an organisation, going through a period where it seems like all the old issues re-surface again can actually be a sign of heading very much in the right direction. In fact, if it does NOT happen, that can be an indicator that the change will not ultimately stick. Transformation that emerges from within a self-organising system (which is what the RIForum is at the moment) can be unpredictable and dramatic.
Thanks for the comments, much appreciated :)

Slad and others pleaded for a subforum to keep the Hashara prop off the front page.

Not unreasonable.

Your reputation is going down the tubes.
Do something.

I'll chime in late with my two cents. I loved RI when I first found it and I still love it today. Even though I don't post all that often, it's nice to know that there are others out there who share my fascination with certain esoteric topics, have studied them with the same intensity, and come to at least similar conclusions. RI posters generally, and a few specifically, have also been enormously helpful in filling in more than a few gaps in my understanding of how the world works. It's also helped me make peace with the known unknowns (see the High Strangeness and UFOs sub), feeling a sense of wonder and appreciation for the mysterious while retaining the ability to have rational discussions about the rare manifestations which have any sort of decent documentation or reliable witnessing about them. Meanwhile neofascism marches reliably on, industrial civilization continues its slow burn, and saying "I told you so," no longer brings even bittersweet satisfaction. I nurse myself on memories of Occupy, and the dim hope that something else might flare up that causes the Fat Cats to piss themselves. My brow twitches when familiar parts of my reality randomly pop into the consensus. Did I really just hear an MSM talking head discussing TWA Flight 800 and Oklahoma City conspiracies in a serious way? Maybe I should keep my little pet projects going. Maybe I should check in a little more often to see what ya'll are working on.
