The whole 'yeah but he's lying argument' doesn't really... trump (heh) the 'comparatively better foreign policy' one.

There are two major-party candidates in an essentially two-party system. One says he wants better relations with Russia and condemns the Iraq war, and one says she wants to antagonise Russia and has supported Iraq-like wars since Kosovo without exception.

Now, the first guy is a blowhard and a weirdo and a liar and all that, and there is a huge chance he might not come through on the two all-important reversal-of-the-neocon-era platforms... but his opponent definitely won't. She has been on the opposite side of each for decades.

For Americans, it's fair to say 'yeah, well he also has a lot of domestic policies that are shit and hers are better' and make the 'foreign policy is only one part of it' argument... but on the straight anti-neocon foreign policy angle, he's still better than she is.

wonderfully simply stated. i would add that (not for purposes of hating your neighbor depending on who they intend to vote for) foreign policy trumps (omg i'm so pathetically sorry) domestic. the tax rake goes to war first. there's no way to spin that. and no way to fix it other than put a stop to it. do what you can or are willing to do under threat to your life from "our" state, red, white, and blue patriotism and all.

I'm asking you specifically because, like you, I work in Los Angeles, but unlike you, I don't know anyone who is supporting Trump. Most of my co-workers are Latino, some college educated, all blue collar and union. Trump scares the fucking shit out of them because they all know someone, whether relatives or not, that could potentially in a Trump administration face a goddamn deportation squad.

Just testing my personal hypothesis that the vast majority of Trump supporters do so because they're blinded by white privilege.

The foreign policy "president," also at a safe remove from operational decisions, will be Pence -- Mr. "Christian first, conservative second, Republican third."
