Maddow can be pretty hostile to deep politics in general, even when canonical history supports the topic.

Both Obama and Bush have made a tradition of purging the ranks of the officer corps, this would just be following in their footsteps.

you know, remember the adam curtis doc (recent one) about the blizzard of bullshit keeping everyone off balance, unable to mount a coherent response? That is exactly what trump is pulling. Really, I'm not too worried about him, I don't believe a word he says and would expect only one thing: that whatever he would do once elected would have no resemblance to anything he says while campaigning.

In fact, not only am I not worried about him, I suspect he's a fairly healthy development in the schizo world of american't politics. He's outing the shadow content  and totally disrupting the 'mainstream' repug narrative. It's a lovely bit a culture-jamming. and people REALLY believe in his shtick. Even smart people, they somehow WANT to believe it's true.

I made an observation that people attracted to the trump brand of course like trump in politics, surprisingly some folks seem to think the trump-brand had broad appeal and are shocked that he's 'burning his brand' - seems to me that's a perfect case of people's media exposure making them think some shit is more popular than it really is.

A candidate who takes the shadow content of polite society for a walk in the sun would also be of worth, there doesn't appear to be one at hand, though. :sun:

More Putin-Trump lovin'...
http://edition.cnn.com/2015/12/17/polit ... tin-trump/
Putin offered high praise for the billionaire businessman-turned-Republican presidential front-runner on Thursday during an annual news conference with reporters.

"He is a bright and talented person without any doubt," Putin said, adding that Trump is "an outstanding and talented personality."

And in remarks closely mirroring Trump's assessment of the campaign, the Russian leader called Trump "the absolute leader of the presidential race," according to the Russian TASS news agency.

Later Thursday, Trump returned the warm words.

"It is always a great honor to be so nicely complimented by a man so highly respected within his own country and beyond," Trump said in a statement released by campaign spokeswoman Hope Hicks. "I have always felt that Russia and the United States should be able to work well with each other towards defeating terrorism and restoring world peace, not to mention trade and all of the other benefits derived from mutual respect."

Masha Gessen, a Russian-American journalist who authored the book "Man Without a Face: The Unlikely Rise of Vladimir Putin," said she believed Putin's comments are "sincere" and that the Russian leader shares a lot in common with the brash billionaire.

"There's a really aggressive posture to both men. Putin respects fighters and he respects aggression and he doesn't respect sort of calm and deliberation," Gessen said. "He wants a manly adversary. He wants somebody he can understand."

CNN, so just to see what angle is being pushed...

I agree wholeheartedly with this assessment. It's a very interesting thing to watch. In so many ways the response to Trump illustrates the things that are so very wrong about our culture and media.

ok, yes i hate Glenn Beck. but he may have a point. its weird...donald trump opposes the iraq war, supports gay marriage, supports social security, is against Turkey supporting ISIS, supports abortion, supports the working poor....but now is all the sudden a fascist racist who incites his fans to attack minorities. It doesnt make sense, unless, you realize he is there to destroy and ruin the Republicans

oh well maybe...geez...

Fuck Maddow ...

Well, about a large segment of the Sandy Hook and Boston Bombing "Truthers", she's right on the money with her description. Unhinged and gullible are almost too generous a summation.
