Those first two articles flesh out much of the background of Omar the Shooters interactions with the FBI and father Mateen's
extensive background as a Afghan ex-pat with strong ties to the political and intelligence community in the USA respectively.
One item new to me was that the FBI had "informants" interact with Omar as well as interrogations by agents. Most of the "successful" FBI counterterrorism cases seem to be where a patsy is identified and then coached and provided with materials by the "informants".
The life of Omar as a closeted gay man seems compartmentalized regards his relationship with his father.
The short video of Omar guarding BP oil damaged beaches approaches satire had not Omar the Shooter moved on to such a horrid end.
Was father Omar and his family monetarily supported by his political life or did he have a separate source of wealth or trade?

The union president of the Miami Fraternal Order of Police has even questioned the aspect of friendly fire.
His FB profile is open if you want to look at the post yourself. Does not look like he necessarily wrote it as it appears to be a screenshot he posted.
https://www.facebook.com/javi.ortizfop
Regardless if there was friendly fire, it was the asshole Mateen that started it.
A patsy? Maybe, but for what purpose?
https://photographyisnotacrime.com/2016 ... ndly-fire/Even Javier Ortiz, president of the Miami Fraternal Order of Police, who usually reserves his social media commentary for doxing citizens trying to hold police accountable, posted the question to his Facebook friends, most whom are police officers, including one Miami-Dade officer who raised the possibility of friendly fire.

A patsy(?) is definitely the glaring question. The shootings definitely fulfil multiple spheres of psychological attack. All of them double binds when taken what we know so far all at once. It's like grease in a pan when you add a little water and detergent. Everything separates and then you dump it down the drain.

Re: Hey! How about Orlando Now? (shootings)
this:
Wonder if some pro-Trump FB posts of his will be found? I will say that I haven't seen the comments about him not knowing about Islam. Wasn't there one book out on a desk in his "home photos"- which, of course, could have been a plant...That and the aforementioned "conflicted gay" stuff - need to look for how far back that goes...
http://usuncut.com/politics/powerful-ex ... -shooting/Che Brandes-Tuka, a scholar, international human rights campaigner, and organizer who works as a journalist for TeleSUR English, ran through the known details of Omar Mateen — the 29-year-old who carried out a massacre at an Orlando nightclub that left 49 people dead and 53 others wounded — and shredded the myth that he was an Afghan terrorist with ties to ISIS:
So after a couple of days of reports and testimonies, we know the following about the Orlando shooter:
He was a child of immigrants, born and raised in the United States.
He pledged allegiance to Hezbollah, Al-Qaeda AND ISIS, 3 organizations that are de facto at war with each other, showing he was ignorant about all 3, let alone politics in the Middle East in general.
He knew practically nothing about Islam and according to his wife, father and community he was not religious in the slightest.
He struggled with his toxic masculinity, had an alcohol problem and beat up his wife for which he was never charged.
He was racist towards Blacks, Latin@’s and other minorities and in the shooting killed predominantly queer people of color.
Despite his own alleged queer inclinations, he was a homophobe in a country where still 1 in 5 LGBTQ people are victims of hate crimes and there are more than a 100 anti-LGBTQ bills (from anti-gay marriage to bathroom bills) pending in dozens of states.
He idolized the NYPD, one of the country’s most well-known and cherished institutions that has an army bigger than ISIS, is known to indiscriminately and disproportionately spy on Muslims and which engages in systematic violence against Blacks, Latin@’s and other minorities.
He beat juveniles in detention centers over the head for a living as he worked for and got his training from the private security firm G4S, which is not only one of the foremost stakeholders in the Prison–industrial complex, but is also invested in mass deportations as it runs immigration detention centers and participates in the occupation of Palestine, training other mass killers in Israel to target and imprison Palestinians.
He staged a mass shooting in a country that has seen a 1,000 mass shootings in the last 1,200 days.
So basically he was ignorant, self-conflicted, racist, sexist, homophobe, had a sick admiration for authority and was obsessed with guns and violence, eventually acting upon all of that.
Sorry folks, but your supposed “Islamic radical terrorist from Afghanistan” is as American as apple pie made with homegrown apples and baked in an American made oven.

Weird how any mention of Mateen killing anyone at all is missing from that timeline.Wombaticus Rex » 15 Jun 2016 16:52 wrote:NYT timeline / summary with many infographics and maps

I personally don't think he sounds staged so much as he sounds (as the kids put it these days) "on the spectrum".
I happen to have a couple of friends who suffer from serious mental illness (schizophrenia, BPD, NPD, etc), and his mannerisms remind me more of theirs than of any polished acting style.
Just my 0.02.

The best thing we can do for ourselves is to examine perspectives different than our own. I agree with Willow, although if I were to say 'dumbest thing', folk would tag me with right-wingery, when all I'm saying is that progressives are the ones that need to be armed, and the strong anti-gun stance of most on the left puzzles me and puts me off from other aspects of left thinking that, to me, is intrinsically appealing.

All these things will continue as long as coercion remains a central element of our mentality.

^^Pars pro toto, btw. The last couple of pages are packed with that kind of pretend-omniscience, based on precisely nothing but innuendo and unsupported anonymous assertions faithfully transported by the corporate media.
Trial by Yellow Press, yet again. "Piss on this corpse, readers, it's the corpse of The Bad Guy." Yeah, I know that's been standard practice in post-legal America ever since 9/11, but there was a time when it wasn't standard practice at Rigorous Intuition. And I'm still waiting to see any actual evidence that he dunnit.

Sounder, I will never own or use a gun. I held a 357 as a youth that some friend had and I immediately handed it back. Nope, way too existentially harmful to my peaceful ways. I just flashed on that damn I could kill you right now.
I do like paintball though. Haven't done it in a few years but those battles are fun.

Have the FBI managed to extract a "confession" from his wife yet?
Or maybe from his three-year-old son, if he hasn't yet been fed to the alligators.
