Just got the new Love Me Destroyer record in the mail today, had to listen to it twice before I got into it because its a little different both from their first record and from what I normally listen to it

Its pretty good though

Re: punk music/RI: I am now listening to TSOL's 1st ep, CH3's 1st album - and Symbol Six. Every sentiment seems oddly apt and of the present time.

And, for Gods' sake don't forget DOA, who even in their weakest musical moments always had something cogent to say.

The fucking bluescreen is really pissing me off.

I'm not sure who you mean? The Queers, yeah alot of line-up changes to produce one album over and over. Although I personally think there is a big difference between the best and worst of their catalogue

If you mean LMD, yeah I probably would prefer more straigh-ahead Pinhead Circus albums but whattyagonnado?

Also, don't let my username fool ya I'm more into 90/00s punk than the 80s stuff (I was born in the 80s lol) but I have heard all ofthe bands you mentioned.

TSOLs s/t fucking rips, although I stayed away from most of their stuff after that. I'm not enough of a scenester to know all the goings-on but it didn't sound good from what I heard

Wow, for some reason I got the Queers mixed up w/Mr. T Experience (now THERE's some changes, no?). You're right, the Queers have always sounded the same.

I was deep into 70s & 80s punk (thrash & hardcore mostly), my band played with them ALL! I'd like to keep up with the scene now but there's soooo much OF it and I'm 48 years old, short on time and (honestly) energy. It is all (or as much of it as there ever was) good as far as I'm concerned, though.

As far as TSOL I would go so far as to wholeheartedly recommend the 1st EP and DANCE WITH ME (it fuckin rips) - the rest is hit or miss, and the later, non-Jack stuff is just horrible metal crap.

One more recommendation - seek out Italy's RAW POWER, that's what I'm listening to now (the SCREAMS FROM THE GUTTER LP) and it is just amazing.

Whoa I've never heard of Raw Power but I just listened to samples and the lone review calls them the Italian Minor Threat. I can hear that a little bit, pretty sweet.

As for MTX, man there were alot of Lookout bands that I thought had unique sounds but most people would just call them all Ramonesy. I think you are thinking of someone other than MTX though, all of their albums are Dr Frank with his wry/sarcastic/hilarious songs about girls.

To me though, The Queers, Screeching Weasel, MTX, Op Ivy (ok unfair comparison), Crimpshrine, etc are fairly different from each other. Granted there was alot of crossover because all of those guys knew each other though..

I am into a little bit more poppy stuff though, although I wouldn't call it pop..think Kid Dynamite for instance.

I do occasionally listen to thrashy Martha Splatterhead-type stuff. I mean Crucial Unit has to be the most awesome band all time I just DLd the song Raw Power and it sounds a little bit like The Locust to me. They are kind of obscure though. Plus for the most part I guess RPs lyrics aren't completely unintelligible.

Slayer did a punk album once, and caught alot of shit for it - almost the whole thing was covers too, but I thought it was awesome. Nobody else sounds like that really. Well, maybe Bones Brigade (yes, they're skaters) but I can't really get into them for whatever reason.

Touring would be so awesome, too bad I don't have a lick of musical ability
