Suffering raises up those souls that are truly great; it is only small souls that are made mean-spirited by it.

Polygamous gods in the celestial kingdom - check
rule over other planets - check
spawn new families throughout eternity (or in other words, "endless celestial sex") - check

Woo hoo. Where do I sign up?

"O Oysters," said the Carpenter,
"You've had a pleasant run!
Shall we be trotting home again?'
But answer came there none--
And this was scarcely odd, because
They'd eaten every one.

The Soviet system produced two unarguably good things, during the brief span of their empire - dissidents against the Soviet system, and very instructive animations about the nuclear problem.

This one is about everywhere and everybody. It's well worth a watch.

Watership Down, as the poster above has shown, is a sterling bit of work. It hurt me a lot better and closer than any other post-apocalytptic work. The folk were rabbits!

"This film is an AURORATONE created by Cecil Stokes (1910-1956) in collaboration with Bing Crosby. Mr. Stokes intended his Auroratones to serve as a visual therapy for patients with mental disorders and chronic migraines. This print was owned by my Grandfather, who probably acquired it during the 1940's while he was working as a film projectionist for various mental health institutions in the New York City area."

The Five Obstructions | von Trier 2003

Post by Allegro »

Sometimes it is only through being constrained that an artist can truly be free. Jørgen Leth’s perfection as a director is revealed and reaffirmed by Lars von Trier’s five diabolical attempts to introduce flaws to his work in a film that’s thought provoking, enigmatic, humane and warmly funny.
