The Cyclist Who Gave Trump the Finger Lost Her Job Because of It. So She Ran for Office—and Won. Elliot Hannon Nov 06, 20197:33 AM Juli Briskman Juli Briskman poses on a street in Sterling, Virginia. Brendan Smialowski/Getty Images In 2017, Juli Briskman was cycling along in the northern Virginia suburbs minding her own business when President Donald Trump’s motorcade roared past as he departed his golf club in Sterling, Virginia. As it did, Briskman shot her left hand into the air, giving Trump the middle finger. When a photographer captured the moment, the 52-year-old was suddenly a viral sensation, etching Briskman into the newly articulated ranks of the resistance. Life wasn’t all retweets and mentions for Briskman, however—she lost her marketing analyst job at the government contracting firm Akima LLC when she fessed up to being the mystery woman in the photo.

The Trump episode, and all that came in its wake, prompted Briskman to run for office for the first time. So, last year, Briskman announced her candidacy for Board of Supervisors of northern Virginia’s Loudoun County, which happens to be home to the Trump National Golf Club. On Tuesday, Briskman won the seat—beating a Republican who had occupied the seat for nearly a decade—and with it got some semblance of poetic justice.
Mazars and Deutsche Bank could have ended this nightmare before it started. They could still get him out of office. But instead, they want mass death. Don’t forget that.
...the ONLY candidate who has been thoroughly vetted and cleared of any association with a foreign actor.
Only a perfect sleaze would use the sleazy "Russian asset" charge against Gabbard. She should consider legal action.

whatever opinion one may have about Gabbard's viability as a candidate (and/or her military/'religious' background), the commentary by Hillary and her entourage Re: 'russian asset' was just mind-numbingly dumb (On edit: taken at face-value, that is. Most twits aligning with 'Dems' on twitter apparently did just that. Hillary knew precisely what she was doing by issuing a statement she knew to be untrue). The above tweet makes it clear. the HERD mentality on display -- the 're-tweeters' and amplifiers of that blatant piece of disinfo -- is unsurprising. It was expected, given what we've observed over the past ~3+ years.
Trump-ism has rendered a portion of the population -- self-described 'liberals'/'Dems' -- insane, and in the process they've largely advocated, promoted, and/or subscribed to policies, ideas or political entities they should otherwise rail against.
In that respect, Trump has been the ideal info weapon.

I'm speaking as an outsider here, but I can't help thinking that that is whole the point.
The crap slung at her is so 'mind-numbingly dumb', so trivially easy to disprove, it just looks - from here - like more (to borrow Jack's term) 'Kayfabe'.
Indeed, hence the 'on edit' in my prior post above. It's been Kayfabe for some time now. Trump is merely the culmination of a natural progression toward overt/non-subtle theatrics.
Idiocracy's one mistake is that they projected too far into the future. We're practically there already. Here's your [near] future, America:

ELIZABETH WARREN IS NOT GOOD, BAD; AWFUL, TERRIBLE.
Also "a player in the game", which apparently is one or two steps removed from "a pawn in their game".
Elizabeth Warren Refuses to Criticize Outsize Influence of ‘Whitest States’: ‘I’m Just a Player in the Game’
“But, but let me just ask, they are two of the whitest states in the country, and then we move to South Carolina, with a very significant population of people of color,” Goodman said. “And it means the candidates spend so much of their time catering to those first two states, overall do you think that should change?”
“Look, I am just a player in the game on this one,” Warren said, then added “And I am delighted to be in South Carolina, thank you.”
-I don't like hoodlums. -That's just a word, Marlowe. We have that kind of world. Two wars gave it to us and we are going to keep it.
What shifted [House Speaker Nancy Pelosi] now? I’d say the answer is: this impeachment isn’t directed at Trump at all, it’s about undermining the rising left-wing opposition in the Democratic party. They are plausibly on the verge of seizing the party agenda away from the neo-liberal consensus of the Clinton-Obama decades — with issues like universal public health-care and equitable taxes. They’ve even found ways to fund campaigns without bowing to the corporate gods.

What stupid statements and what a fucking meltdown. Maybe she was hoping to demonstrate that she may take shit from Gates or NBC, but no way from some fucking leftists? Punch down, to show she can be trusted? Going for a Sister Souljah moment? (This is when candidate Clinton demonstrated his white-guy bonafides by publicly attacking, I think Jesse Jackson, for not having distanced himself from rapper and black radical Sister Souljah.) May be, but I don't think it's comprehensible as such to most. Looks straight-up unprepared and out of sorts. These weren't total softballs, but pretty slow pitches. She has all the time in the world, but she is needlessly abrupt, rushed, anxious. Is this how flustered she gets when she hasn't rehearsed the answer?

Because the Republicans are SO much better on race.

Just do Hitler. We already know what you're about, so why bother with less? Save your time and assign it to a function key on your keyboard. You can just do Ctrl-H and paste in "UR WRONG! HITLER WAS WORSE!" whenever anyone goes beyond your own aggressive/milquetoast pronouncements in criticizing any aspect of US society, its ostensible liberal democracy, its billionaire-owned corporate media, its form of capitalism, its softer "interventions" on behalf of "human rights," and especially its inauthentic opposition party, the Democrats, whose constant service to the corporations, collaboration with all the key Republican-led outrages, refusal to fight on behalf of workers, and behavior as kayfabe jobbers has been the main reason the Republicans still exist in their current form.

Here's a leading Democrat distinguishing himself from one of those Republicans who, objectively, is so much worse on race, who was at the forefront of the "war on terror" and the "homeland security" state, and who used his subcommittee to hold McCarthy-style hearings promoting Islamophobic conspiracy theory.
