Well now I feel like shit. I was joking with what I said above, asking for a rational explanation of the thread. I never really wanted one or needed one. I don't know what they're talking about, and I'm not convinced that they do either. It seems to be about dogs and traffic lights and Beatrice Kay. It's the Lounge. By it's nature, it has drunk folk in it.

I like ElfisMiles too, always have, and appreciate what he brings. Long may he continue to bring it. He'll not only be back, like almost everybody here, he won't ever really have gone away.

Barracuda is a very good moderator. That's my opinion. He knows what he's doing, and isn't doing anything here without forethought or consideration - except maybe here, in the Lounge, where we're all drunk all the time.

Have to say that for the record, even if I feel like a total pissant typing it out. I like him, and I trust his judgement. Gah!

I do though.

Sorry for the hermetic nature of the thread, Ahab. It's actually pretty straightforward - elfismiles linked to a site we consider to basically be a hate site, and after discussing the post with the admin, I asked him for an explanation. I subsequently removed the post with his tacit agreement.

The only real issue here is that elfismiles did not like the manner in which I phrased my questions and responses to him by pm. I didn't really think I was overly harsh, but he did, so he did what he did and it's done. Anyone who is familiar with my communication skills knows damn well that I can be more than somewhat terse on occasion, and that depending upon the circumstances I can tend to favor the stick over the carrot.

But consequently, we've had further communications which have pretty much ironed out the disagreement with regards to language, and elfismiles posted in a thread on Monday, so if he's really leaving, he hasn't done it as yet.

That's very clear. Thank you very much for the explanation. That's enough for me.

:thumbsup

I don't want to cause trouble! Love and kisses to everyone!

But I'm still not sure about the dogs, and I haven't the faintest idea who Beatrice Kay is, but I'm cool with that. I think fully half of norton ash's comments go right over my head anyway.

Just riffing on 'go'... there you go, there I go, there but for the grace of god go I.

So I quoted 'Go Dog Go', a classic American early-reader children's book, which Cuda recognized because he mentioned the 'dog party.' (As later referenced by Kubrick in Eyes Wide Shut.) (Joking.)

No worries. Just felt for a minute as if I was watching this film again for the first time:

Everything seemed a bit random. The difference is that nothing in that film, even if you watch it from the start or hear it all explained, ever makes any more sense.

Howdy RIfolk,

Thank you for the kind words sunny, simulist, 82_28, nathan28, cosmic cowbell, ahabsotherleg, hammer of los, and anyone else who thought nice thoughts or wondered affectionately... even cuda, thanks for accepting my apology for stomping off in a virtual huff as I did.

Cuda's description of my reasons for taking a break are accurate - while I still disagree with the designation of a certain site as being a "hate site" (maybe I'm misinformed or lack enough information to reach the same conclusion) - it wasn't freakin stormfrontdotwtf - I agree that some folks from here have been hated upon by certain users who've posted comments over there - and that doesn't even address the "hate" tween the site owners there and here.

Anyway, Jeff I'm sorry if I offended you and I'm even more sorry if you feel I've truly endangered anyone. That was not my intention.

Well, as I said to cuda in my apology to him, I've got projects that need my attention so I'm slowly weaning myself from reading and posting at RI for a time.

Peace, and see you all really soon.

- SMiles

Hey, SMiles. It's great to see you, as always.

And, you know, you really may be onto something: ".wtf" sounds like an idea with loads of possibilities. It might just catch on: "So what did you invest in during the great '.wtf' bubble?"

Compared2What? is the person I am missing most. She could write. She knew all the ins and outs of the Larouche/Liberty Lobby/Scientology nexus, and she had a literary style too. And a personality! That's rare.

Sometimes when I look back over old threads, I regret not arguing with her. She would've torn me to bits, with very little effort, but I would've learned useful things.

Chiggerbit was great too, come to think of it. Where have all the flowers gone?
