"People of faith."

(With the attendant implication that those outside the acceptably narrow boundaries of "religion," necessarily aren't.)

"Dustbin"

Seriously, how much "dust" is in a modern trashcan?

"Trashcan" is the american name for this, and it fits far better. Who knows trash better than the americans, anyway?

"Trashbin" is acceptable I suppose ...

I don't agree with everything they say (even when I agree with next to nothing they say) but they have a point when they say...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E-Prime

be
being
been
am
is; isn't
are; aren't
was; wasn't
were; weren't
Contractions formed from a pronoun and a form of to be:
I'm
you're; we're; they're
he's; she's; it's
there's; here's
where's; how's; what's; who's
that's
E-Prime likewise prohibits contractions of to be found in nonstandard dialects of English, such as the following:
ain't
hain't (when derived from ain't rather than haven't)
whatcha (derived from what are you)
yer (when derived from you are rather than your)

"speak to"

Just fuck off with that. It's inevitably cant and sanctimoniousness.

I thought it was derived: what do you > what do yuh > what d'yuh > what djuh > what cha. QED. See also 'So what'cha want' by the Beastie Boys. But anyway, does E-prime alter cognition in any provable way? Or should I just stick with bath salts LSD?

Wow, just wow. Unbeknownst to me, this thread like totally speaks to my core strengths. It isn't about words, it's about people, people.

Just sayin'.

Kthx.
