Slad, I know you said you've been through hard experiences at DU and other places because of your conspiracy beliefs. Sorry if I touched a raw nerve for you but the truth is after so many pages on this thread and so many other threads, I still can't say for sure what you think about Icke's basic tenets.
It would be great to hear it directly from you.

oh no you know very well it was not about conspiracy beliefs......I have no doubt about that...it would be nice if you could prove that statement but you can't....one of many lies you have told about me here and NEVER OFFER PROOF NEVER

It's not bad to be anything inherently, except bad things.
But it's foolish to believe that something's all groovy, alternative and better-than-science because the company that sells it represents itself and its products that way.
Could just be the PR line they use to maintain the non-profit on which the reputation of their enormous, completely non-contrarian global corporate for-profit enterprise is based.
They could just be making a sucker out of you, in other words. For profit. By telling you the sorts of things you want to hear. Which they can do, since other people who do the same thing have conveniently already convinced you that independent thinkers don't need to see things proven.
So a little propaganda that floats your boat is all it takes for them to be free of any fear that you'll even notice if they do anything that might otherwise be objectionable to you or (ftm) consider the possibility when someone else brings it to your attention by (for example) pointing out that some of their claims about the product aren't supported.
Or that their main source of revenue actually comes from selling companies an excuse for reducing employee health benefits.
Or that another considerable revenue stream of theirs is derived from government agencies doling out those tax dollars we're always hearing so much about on programs for government employees that deliver no benefit whatsoever to the taxpayer.
In short: When you do believe what people tell you when it's pleasing and don't when it's not and reply to all information that harshes your mellow wrt former by insulting the messenger, nobody has to even make you their fool. Because you'll fight for the opportunity yourself.
That was my point.

I'm not at all sure where you told the story before or what you said about what happened- I wasn't there at DU and don't read many of the threads here.
Sorry again if I offended you- not my intention- quite the opposite...

Absolutely. People think and believe in weird and wacky ways. The mind can be reliably, repeatedly and predictably tricked and fooled over and over again. Magicians and illusionists use these brain "blind spots" against us all the time, every day.
The brain can't help it, we are hardwired in ways beyond our control. For example, you cannot
NOT see a sad face here:
Do you see a happy face or two dots and a bent line?
(more of these uncontrollable brain quirks can be found
HERE)
There are a number of other ways the brain is hardwired which can cause us to misinterpret the world and the "cause and effect" patterns that surround us everywhere. Being unaware of these mind biases can cause us to hold heartfelt beliefs that are rooted in misinterpretations.
For more fun, check out some of these
illusions.

David Icke is barking up the wrong tree- and in so doing will lead the conspiracy community away from the essentially positive role that we can play in a world in crisis.
This is crucial.
There are any number of aspects of the conspiracy community that pursue highly doctrinaire ideas for the sake of pure profit and that I disagree with entirely and find counterproductive. Vigilant Citizen-type masonic pop culture riffing, for example, which has as adherents not only observers of the pop culture scene, but also participants and producers. An even more insidious group would be StormFront and other ZOG infested branches of the conspiracy tree - huge followings, real potential for violence and danger.
There are more, as you know.
I don't disagree with your pursuit and dissection of Icke's core mythos. It's a necessary thing. But "the conspiracy community" is a huge, heterogeneous group, about sixty percent of which (where did I get that figure? Made it up.) is based in a core of pure delusion and misguided hatred. IMHO. Turning many of them toward effective, pointed, political action them will be a difficult endeavor, to say the least. They are bitter, they cling to their guns and conspiracy tropes as a way to explain their frustrations, without thoroughly examining the roots of those beliefs for disease.
Present company excepted, of course.

The 60% which you say are kinda hopeless- and you may be being generous, I dunno- are not the ones I am concerned with. And you're absolutely right- my sojourns in that world these last few years have definitely shown me that.
It's the other 40% or so- those with the potential to think and act effectively- that I have high hopes for. Because much of the stuff we talk about here is dynamite.

is no one going to ask AD to stop this? SLAD has indicated that she has no desire to answer this pointed question and has by her other collected posts, in fact, already answered it.
This seems to just be harassment for no good reason other than AD seems to think that if he can point to a question that SLAD refuses to answer he somehow wins something.
