a composite image of the anti-gay candidate created entirely out of gay porn — hundreds of penises, muscular torsos and close-ups of anal sex. There are even tiny people having tiny intercourse in the middle of Rick Santorum’s eyeballs.

Lots of articles today in the quasi-"press" about how the GOP powerbrokers won't let a Santorum nomination happen. And how right now they're suggesting that they'll have to figure something out if Santorum beats Romney in Michigan.
How hard would it be for them to steal it for Romney in Michigan, I wonder.
Also, maybe this is the plan, so they can shoehorn in some "reluctant" old establishment GOP'er into the nomination (but who?)
But my take is what I've said before, that they've now created, throuh their hatemongering and propaganda and brainwashing, a BASE that is now thinking for itself, and actually WANTS Santorum! A base that's actually run past their own Overton Window into Nuttersville, where they can no longer be controlled.

Nordic, don't you think that the powers that be have already established that Obama will continue his presidency for the next four years?
I think that Santorum's role right now is just to push the Overton Window to the point where authoritarianism, and eventually (in years, or decades) fascism, will have become populist.
Rick Santorum's most recent Overton quote is that JFK's 1960 speech on separation of church and state made him "want to throw up:"

Yes, but I think he's off the reservation, or at least the base has followed him off the reservation. I really think the PTB are finding themselves surprised at how big the delusional pseudo-christian "evangelical" base has become and they don't know what to do about it. They've created a monster.
And yes, its all about keeping Obama in there, ultimately, but this whole GOP clown show is about keeping up appearances and keeping the race "close" (like it always is). And keeping some illusion of credibility to the GOP. With Santorum, they show their hand as The American Taliban party, which isn't what anybody wants for their brand.

Completely agree, as long as we're talking about the GOP and their visible power.
I think that the real power elite know what they're doing with this far-right authoritarian setup. I don't think that this long march of military-industrial marriage, deregulation, accelerated inequality, endless power and wealth grabs, citizens united, the imperial wars, pacification and intellectual neutering of the populace leave much wiggle room for chance.
I mean maybe, when it comes to natural disasters, random small grandiose acts, and other unknowns; but not something as easily controlled as Santorum's rhetoric and the media's spreading of the message. I don't the think the actual humans we're familiar with in the GOP have any control over that. But the same imperial factions that have handled Obama's presidency are certainly powerful enough (finance, defense, energy and oil) to block or allow certain messages and positioning. And the potential outcomes (authoritarianism, patriarchy, conformity, theocracy) are great for the power elite.

This just in:
Chuck Todd wrote:“Romney won Mackinac County by 1 vote. 667 votes to Santorum’s, wait for it, 666 votes.”
Coincidence? Or is someone at Diebold working on a sense of humor?
