I haven't read all replies yet (I will later), but to answer the question: I used to comfort myself by saying 'hey at least I didn't make all this stuff up, I was just born into it', then later I started thinking I'm not so sure, maybe I did make all this up myself. So now you know, you're all figments of my narcistic imagination, for which I apologize.

The choices are not mutually exclusive. I wanted to pick all of them.

Now that I have read Jack's explanation, I am happy to report that I picked the right answer. Although I believe all of them, I most often think of the one involving mass mind control, with simulation a close second. I liked mini me's comment about Einstein --very droll. And hammer, I love your comments. Don't delete them.

That is absolutely correct.

Are you one of the Wize?

Only the Wize Unner Stan!

Ha ha ha!

On the other hand, the apology was a long time coming.

Which rabbit hole indeed.

Level 21: The Red Pill
The truth is that America serves the people through the lie. That is the ‘choice’ represented by progressivism (= communism), installed in a highly-accomplished state, for over a century, as triumphant popular self-deception. The service provided — and demanded — is the deceit. If the people see through the lie, the resulting dissatisfaction will not stem from the fact they have been lied to, but from the revelation that they have not been lied to well enough. Could anything be clearer than that? The outbreaks of popular rage occur exactly at those moments when reality threatens to manifest itself — when the Matrix glitches. “We elected you to hide the truth from us,” the people shriek, “so just do your goddamn job, and make reality disappear.”

There is no red pill to save society. To imagine that there might be is to understand nothing.

A conspiracy of which everyone is a part, in collusion to deceive themselves and one another.

Like a family with an abusive father, it is a collective blind spot. One that in a vacuum would likely be rejected, but under the force of a homogenous culture bearing down upon the individual at a point in development when he is most receptive and least resistant, this blind spot becomes crystallized.

By the time one is old enough to have developed a force of his own it is too late, the blind spot has become firmly established, with other parts of the identity already built upon this weak foundational edifice.

This means that the process of "setting one's self right" consists of a very unpleasant tearing down and rebuilding. Much easier to patch over the gaping hole and keep building until it topples over, especially since in the beginning it's not as apparent that the structure is not sound and cannot possibly support the weight of the perceivable world.

The above process also explains the "crazies" who are in abundance all around the outskirts of truth. Almost no one goes to truth willingly, most everyone has only done so because his edifice has fallen over and he had no social support structure at that time to prop it up for him. That is the prime function of cultural/social groups, to "uphold the world" for one another.

This hypothetical man in the above situation, having been satisfied in his previous life, would of course attempt to reconstruct his world, striving to assimilate the new information into his previous false model. The result is of course a new model rife with holes.

This new model is not "less true" than the socially-accepted model, it is only that this new one is no longer a closed circle. Even though it is likely closer to truth than the mainstream model, its flaws are more easily revealed. The mainstream model, constructed and polished by millions of minds working in unison, is a harmonious and closed circle - as long as it is kept at arm's length as intended.

A possible example of the hypothetical person above might be David Icke - a person who initially had no interest in what was beneath the surface of culture, a man satisfied in life as it had been presented. Somehow at an adult age his structural edifice collapsed, and since this was due to external pressures and not personal intention, the resulting new structure is like a blend of false and real.

As a side note, I'm not presenting his belief of lizards to be the "false" part of his structure in this example. Perhaps the lizards reflect the only reality in his structure, who knows. For me, the abstract is where the artistry lies. What is being illustrated here is the contradictory nature of his structure, its feet in multiple incompatible worlds.

Thanks for indulging a Friday morning rumination, and being part of a forum that allows for these weird thought-wanderings.

Great stuff.

Here's another hypothetical person.

And my model is not less true.

It is more true.

Damn your wretched orthodoxies!

I spit upon them!

Ha ha ha.

Brandon, Brandon, BrandonD, you got it going on, excellent telling of the opening up process story.

Well, gotta get back to the lab.

At least far enough to peek past the gatekeepers.

Im a hypothetical model?

Where are my royalties? Where's my money? Any other model I've ever heard about made millions from it.

Im assuming some models, or certainly the modellers are making money out of this kind of modelling , but as far as I know, none of the so-called models in this thread are.

Brandon, from the best that I understand of myself and my fellow models, who,you and others appear to have assigned to their stable, we are speaking from a place that money cant buy.

Its my own" 2 cents" worth.

Kidding of course. Its actually free to a guy who reads this and wants to listen.

From the top of the rabbit hole, Levels 6, 7 and 9 are the ones I have the most trouble traversing. Typically I stand firmly on level 3-both parties are a complete scam. So If I vote, I guess it will be for number 3. I seem to continue to drift deeper in, though.

With a little bit of mental gymnastics, it isn't very difficult for me to go straight to the bottom.
