Ditto. Glad to have good company along the way forward, so thanks for this place, Jeff.82_28 » Sat Mar 28, 2015 6:08 am wrote:You're loved, mang. And love goes all around for all of us kindred spirits.

Jeff
Glad you are home and feeling better and that you went for medical help.
I have enjoyed RI for about a decade and would not want to lose you.

Get well soon Jeff, you are both wanted and needed, as the thread shows.
I do not believe in tuition fees for tertiary education, but I feel I have received an education (and a couple of schoolings) here over the years, and therefore owe you a massive debt. Not that I will ever actually pay it or anything. Just saying, for the record.
I would've found out sooner if I was still on Facebook, but they've deleted my account (either because of the fake name, or 'cos I didn't renew their contract after they changed the terms of service back in January).
Anyway, hope you are feeling okay, glag to see you posting. I spent a lot of time sick in bed as a kid - there are definite advantages to it. Much books, so literature, wow.
All the best.

Re: Jeff just announced on FB that he had a pulmonary emboli
FB deleted your account for a fake name? Because mine is definitely fake. I don't use it to get in touch with people that I know from the past, but to keep up with people in the present, such as Jeff. I try to keep my algorithms to a bare minimum. I tried to register my "presence" as a "company", but I'm not sure if it worked. I guess the FB robots could "find me out". In the end though, it's no big loss.
People should be able to keep up with one another on their own terms.
In fact, I "fear" it so much that I won't even provide a link in fealty to FB.
What I mean is that we have these remote friendships and no thanks to but "thanks to" FB we can keep up with one another. That's why I prefer to be fake and give you cats my "identity" in a both public/private form.
However, intuitively, we are all real and can tell when we are so!
Anybody read this? It's awesome.

And since this thread is about the topic at hand. Good going Jeff and beautiful family.

I think there were a couple of contributary factors to it getting deleted. My name wasn't just fake, it was the name of a famous historical figure, and I was using the account mainly to campaign for a particular political cause. The birth date and job description were also obviously fictitious, in that they were consistent (so far as was possible) with the fake name.
Like you say, it's no great loss. They did me a favour in a way, since it's a serious trial normally for a FB user to get their own account closed by choice.
Anyways, I confer the strength of Crom onto Jeff.

I'm recovering at home now and feeling pretty lucky. Moving slower, but picking up speed daily.
I was a hypochondriac in my youth, so maybe that prepared me to roll with this. My wife convinced me to go to the hospital. I just wanted to go back to bed, because I could hardly breathe standing up. My self-diagnosis of bronchitis was shot down quickly in the ER. Meat-life can be such an inconvenience.
And yes: MRI within 3 hours. No billing, no inquiring about insurance coverage. That's the way it should be. I hope we never lose that. (Though Canada still needs a pharmacare plan!)
Anyway, I'm still here. Also: still here.
Just found myself looking for the "like" button. Seriously. What conditioning.
Glad to see you back here, too!!

I'm beginning to think this whole thing is evidence of a conspiracy of one sort or another.

I'm not sure I've ever taken the time to thank Jeff, and/or the rest of youse, for letting me hang out here and learn stuff. I can't even remember how I stumbled in here (7.5 year ago now?) but I'm sure glad I did.
A very heartfelt THANKS to y'all...and Jeff, I hope you are doing well.

Indeed. Jack Ruby 'died' of a pulmonary embolism. Back then they had to use drugs. Now they have beam weapons which can induce deep vein thrombosis.
Or maybe Jeff's been shootin' some bad smack from a dealer that's been paid off.
