Re: Russian-Ukranian War: Live Thread
BILD TV was caught yesterday using archive footage of a fire in China in 2015 and a military exercise in Russia in 2014 and pretending these were fresh images from Ukraine. They subsequently deleted both clips, claiming they had "made a mistake", i.e. two mistakes. Maybe they tripped, twice. Nobody's perfect.

- https://twitter.com/ZelenskyyUa/status/ ... 8897774598I thank my friend Mr. President of Turkey @RTErdogan and the people of Turkey for their strong support. The ban on the passage of Russian warships to the Black Sea and significant military and humanitarian support for Ukraine are extremely important today. The people of Ukraine will never forget that!
So Turkey is involved now somewhat.

Ukrainian anti-aircraft artillery stationed between apartment blocks in Kyiv:

The damage to this apartment block has been publicised worldwide. Ukrainian reports say no one in the building was killed or injured.

This guy suggests it was probably hit by a stray Ukrainian artillery shell (link in German): https://gettr.com/post/pwycng4835

- https://www.middleeasteye.net/news/russ ... n-warshipsRussia-Ukraine war: Turkey denies closing Black Sea to Russian warships
Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan didn't tell Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that Turkey would close the Bosphorus and Dardanelles straits to Russian warships, a senior Turkish official told Middle East Eye on Saturday.
"President Erdogan didn't promise to close the straits," the official, who is directly familiar with the call, said. "Turkey hasn't made a decision to close the straits to Russian ships yet."
The statement contradicted an earlier tweet by Zelensky, which was posted following his telephone conversation with Erdogan.

News you won't read. On Thursday, Putin reportedly offered peace if Ukraine embraced neutrality and rejected Nato's arms. Ukraine's president Zelensky was elected in 2019 largely by ethnic Russians on a platform to make peace with Russia.

People just don't know enough history there, only what's in MSM. Russia doesn't want war, they are tired of wars as we all are. But Russia has been pushed into a corner. They've a right to defend their interest and have offered negotiations for years, but west preferred conflict.
Replying to @dan_turismo and @johnpilger
A hostile military alliance is establishing military bases (with the option of nuclear missiles later) in a country next door to you. Do you wait to see what they do next or do you interrupt their plans before they are fully settled in?
No one is 'clean' during war, but blatant lies are being told by MSM across the board.
And as previously mentioned, the timing of this escalation isn't happenstance.

BREAKING: I'm gonna stop saying "Kyiv", for the same reason I never started saying "Paree" or "Berleen" unless I happened to be speaking those languages.

Russia, despite an overwhelming military advantage, is intentionally fighting with one hand tied behind their back in this intervention & limiting use of its most powerful weapons systems. Because the Russian military is not only trying to minimize civilian casualties, but minimize casualties among the Ukrainian military as well. Russia's opponent here is not the Ukrainian people or military per se, but the US-backed Putsch regime that seized power in 2014 and the Banderites that make up its vanguard and brownshirts.
Hence the Russian military's repeated pauses and entreaties to Ukrainian conscripts to lay down their arms, don't die for this US-backed Putsch regime that has ruined the country, and you will be treated with respect and sent home.

Obvious insights...
Also, many thousands had been killed from the air and all forms of Iraqi infrastructure were disabled and on the way to destroyed.Richard Hanania

We used to talk about the 24 hour news cycle before social media, now it’s minute by minute. People have lost perspective, Russia may have miscalculated in the end, but it’s made rapid gains so far.

One thing to keep in perspective: Yes, the Russians are having a lot of problems but it’s day 3 of the war
On day 3 of the war in 2003, Jessica Lynch and her convoy had been captured by Iraqi forces and there was a lot of media commentary then of how the US was losing the fight

Yes, I have the sense that Russia is intentionally minimizing casualties. The Western media is hyping Ukrainian victories and its ability to slow Russia down. I'm guessing Kiev will be under Russian military occupation early next week.
Also noteworthy is Moscow's absolute reluctance to issue any high profile war propaganda, like casualty figures or much detailed info at all. They are trying to wrap this up right quick, get to Kiev and stabilize the situation I reckon. And the propaganda will start then.
Putin's speech about "druggies and nazis" in Kiev was not cool, tho.
The appeal for civilians to take up arms and toss Molotov cocktails at Russian tanks (!!) is absolutely heartless, cruel and gross. And European libs/pseudo leftists are cheering this butchery on. European powers are arming Ukraine and feeding Ukrainians into the meat grinder to be glorious sacrifices to democracy and freedom. Patriotism, militarism and chauvinism are once again in with the left. Absolutely repugnant.
I have logged out of Twitter permanently and finally deleted my Facebook account on the basis of this war. More of a sacrifice than many of these war-crazy wine moms with Ukrainian flags in their social media have made... I'm just so fed up with humanity right now.

Video, 18m, an American in Kiev. This guy is worth listening to.

(can't get it to embed, for some reason)
His main points:
Why you're not seeing US-style "Shock and Awe";
Why the Zelensky regime is arming untrained civilians and placing large weaponry in residential areas;
Why Ukrainians are fleeing Ukraine.
