Here's an al-Jazeera story [video at link] about a public screening of the KONY 2012 video in northern Uganda. It doesn't go over very well. "As the film progresses, puzzlement turns to anger," says al-Jazeera's Malcolm Webb. The crowd is critical: "There are some kind of people who are trying to mobilize using the atrocities committed in northern Uganda," says one man. "We wanted to see our local people who were killed. These are all white men, different from northern Uganda," says another. It's worth checking out al-Jazeera's project "Uganda speaks," which is gathering text messages in support or opposition of the campaign from Ugandans.

Actor George Clooney, long a political activist, was arrested and handcuffed outside the Sudanese embassy in Washington for protesting the country's blockage of food and aid from entering the Nuba Mountains area of the country, as well as its treatment of its people.

Clooney's father, journalist Nick Clooney, 78, was with him and was also arrested, as were Martin Luther King III, NAACP President Ben Jealous, Rep Jim McGovern (D-Mass.) and Rep. Jim Moran (D-Va.) and former Rep. Tom Andrews (D-Mass.). They were taken away in a Secret Service van.

A co-founder for Invisible Children was detained in Pacific Beach Thursday night for being drunk in public and masturbating, according to San Diego Police Department.

Jason Russell, 33, was taken into custody after he was found masturbating in public, vandalizing cars and possibly under the influence of something, according to Lt. Andra Brown. He was detained at the intersection of Ingraham Street and Riviera Road.

Russell is one of the the founders responsible for the "Kony 2012" video that went viral last week. He is described on the organization's website as a co-founder and "our grand storyteller and dreamer." Russell is also described as a Christian and father to two children who wants to have nine more children with his wife he calls his "best friend for over 23 years."

Brown said Russell was acting very strange.

2:15 PM PST: Law enforcement sources tell us ... there are NO plans to charge Russell with a crime for yesterday's incident.

2:08 PM PST: Law enforcement sources tell us ... Russell is being hospitalized on a 5150 psychiatric hold so authorities can assess his mental state. The 5150 hold allows authorities to keep Russell for up to 3 days to determine if he represents a threat to either himself or others.

1:45 PM PST: The CEO of Invisible Children, Ben Keesey, tells TMZ ..."Jason Russell was unfortunately hospitalized yesterday suffering from exhaustion, dehydration, and malnutrition."

Cops told NBC7 in SD they received several calls around 11:30 AM ... reporting a man in "various stages of undress."

We're told ... it appeared Russell was under the influence of some kind of substance.

Cops told NBC, "Officers detained [Russell] and transferred him to a local medical facility for further evaluation and treatment."

Russell is the father of two, and says he wants to have 9 more kids.

When I finally gritted my teeth and watched that KONY12 video yesterday (I still only managed to endure about half of it), my highly-attuned gaydar* was constantly registering a minimum of 112 on the 100-point Oscar Wilde Gay Hetero Husband Scale. I just kept thinking, "This guy is such a queen."

NB I logged in intending to comment briefly on just that personal perception. My comment was not inspired by this morning's news of his abrupt public meltdown.

*I'm not gay, but my gaydar is highly attuned, and not for no reason.
