So, were five pages into a thread about thread structure.

Is anyone listening? Is anything actually gonna happen with any of the suggestions?

The 5 posts and youre out idea seems to have aquired instant physical success.

I will readily admit to getting close to data dumped on one of them.

Overall however, there would certainly appear to be a tangible freshness about this place.

I am schooling myself in using NLP to model how conversational "smearing" happens. It is fascinating.

The freshness as you describe is IMO people focusing on "Threads and their structures / processes" as opportunities for improvement in themselves.

Having a more vibrant, engaged and alive culture here as measured by the number of conversations on GD each week, new members and courteous discussions is not going to be achieved by turning Rigorous Intuition General Discussion into American Dream's comment-free online link and article collection.

Otherwise, short intro to a long article, with poignant personal observation, followed by a link.

I'm all for developing conventions about when and if to post whole articles, and/or excerpts, and/or links,- or anything, really- just so long as they are broad-based posting policies that we apply consistently, across the board...

Why don't we just try common sense for a while ?

Agreed- and I am trying. Sometimes I forget certain things due to my busy, multi-tasking brain melting down, or when my emotional climate changes.

I'm sorry to say that Searcher's aggressive, and sometimes very unrigorous argumentation towards me hurts more than it helps, most of the time.
