Meanwhile, Elvis is still moderator. That hasn't (yet) changed, thank God, and let's hope it doesn't, because he is a very good mod and he has kept this place alive for the last nine months. The future of RI is gonna be grim indeed if Elvis is forced out of here for the second time since last December by the same alleged colleague and false "friend" pulling the same dirty trick behind his back.

I hadn't put Harvey on ignore yet so reading another personal attack/advocating for members to be banned and responding to it was a mistake on my part it will definitely not happen again, promise

It appears the personal attacks are never going to end no matter what Jeff says and how much time he takes out of his life to come here and give us some guidance a couple people will just keep it up but at least now I have 4 people on ignore so I will never see them

RocketMan I love you, as I do all, but I like you too, and generally respect your opinions. Most of the time I do agree with your point of view, but not always. I don't like everyone here, though, and I don't feel any good would come from sharing my reasons for why I don't. I also like Mac, even though I loath his offensive conduct. Mac rarely posted for a very long time and has had a long history of criticizing RIs moderators, complaining Mr. WRex was an inadequate and inconsistent moderator. We've all seen his recent outbursts spread across several threads and a few new ones that were dedicated to his complaint, demanding satisfaction. Imho, Mac's complaint is not a topic for discussion, but one that should have been taken directly to the board's management via PM, and there resolved. Talk about thread disruption! Shades of Hugh Manatee Wins! (sorry, Hugh)

In that you're referring to slad's posting habits, is the 'flooding' referred to occurring in someone other than her own thread? Has her posting habits driven off topic any discussion or is it the complaints about her posting habits that drives a discussion off topic?

Regardless, again this is a matter that if it cannot be resolved via pm, between she and her complainant , whether or not the complainant initiated the thread, should be brought via pm to the board's managers to seek resolution. And the resolution decided by our mods should end once and forever the practice being complained about or the complaints about her behavior.

We have two ready remedies each poster has to avoid slad's prolific archiving of news articles: The first would be to simply scroll past the article(s) she's posted without reading any, especially if you're uninterested in what information they might relate, or by choosing to place her on "Ignore." This last was a new feature Lynne and justdrew designed into RI's current platform.

So, everyone, please be mature enough to monitor your own behavior, and if you can't, please resort to using the ignore tool made available to everyone and please allow discussion to flow, maturely, without demonstrating how poorly an adult can behave.

I appreciate your post Iamwhoiam. The flooding that I speak of is just generally posting so much in so many threads so often that conversations are pushed down and out of the front page at such a clip that it amounts to pretty much a single contributor dominating the front page. The ignore function is useful, that is true. I recognize my part in furthering the currently pretty toxic atmosphere, but PMs are probably not going to help in my case, as my relations with SLAD have degenerated to such an extreme degree. I'm no doubt driven by (a more or less misguided, probably) nostalgia for a pre-"Trump nervous breakdown era" of RI when the general consensus seemed to be that intelligence agencies should not be trusted as sources willy-nilly, or their mouthpieces in the corporate media. I have no problem with SLAD continuing to post here and I really have by now said everything there is to say about why I am sad that she persists in her massive amount of posting.

But, as Kurt Vonnegut so memorably put it, so it goes.

Thank you RocketMan. It's difficult to rid ourselves of our grudges, but who else can? We have to make a conscious effort to resist whatever impulse drives us to impolitely act out, but whether you will or you won't is solely up to you, like quitting smoking or any other negative behavior. Right now I'm practicing surpressing my urge to react to Mac's interference in AD's Troll thread. I know that if I do, I will become invested in emotions I'm trying to avoid engaging at this point in my life. So why bother? How would that benefit me, personally, or the board, in general? Adding more turds to the pile is not the sort of contribution I want to offer here, nor would such be much appreciated by anyone.

While enjoying a hiatus from posting on the board I’ve still dropped in to read it since I particularly enjoy the content and commentary about the postings by Seemslikeadream.

Unlike those of you in urban centers overwhelmed by news media saturation there are some of us reliant upon the internet to source current news stories and political coverage of all parties and sides. SLAD’s posts are thus welcomed and informative, as well as entertaining and reliable for the political picture and pundit opinions presented by mainstream media, and her commentary adds lively personality and perspective to her posts whether or not one agrees with it. That appreciation has been enjoyed for the many years I've been here.

I’ve usually reacted the same way to posts by American Dream, appreciating the contribution.

Jack’s objection, along with his acolytes, apparently centers on the view that those posts represent the “corporate media State-Department fake – woke – anarchist propaganda” version of the news, as well as their volume “flooding” the board (and thus drowning out his own contrary views and archived posts). Oh, if only the world conformed to our personal political perspective and revered our insight exclusively! Thankfully it is instead comprised of a vast cosmopolitan gathering of varied opinion and intellect shared by a wide range of people.

Fortunately also at least one mod isn’t coerced or intimidated into conforming to his preferred policy pronouncements and prerequisites to personalize the place further to his own particular tastes.

I’d also like to welcome back American Dream and Jerky LeBoeuf to the varied mix of fine minds here.
I went to university with Gabor Mate and I enjoy his son’s views, noting Jack has admired them both as well. I’m also sympathetic to some of Jack’s political outlook. But I think empathy towards individuals is also an element of emotional maturity needed to accommodate the kaleidoscope of kindred interest here in the RI board exchanges.

Intellect needs to be balanced by basic human decency for group respect and healthy dynamics online.
