Effectiveness of convalescent plasma therapy in severe COVID-19 patients

Abstract
Currently, there are no approved specific antiviral agents for novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). In this study, 10 severe patients confirmed by real-time viral RNA test were enrolled prospectively. One dose of 200 mL of convalescent plasma (CP) derived from recently recovered donors with the neutralizing antibody titers above 1:640 was transfused to the patients as an addition to maximal supportive care and antiviral agents. The primary endpoint was the safety of CP transfusion. The second endpoints were the improvement of clinical symptoms and laboratory parameters within 3 d after CP transfusion. The median time from onset of illness to CP transfusion was 16.5 d. After CP transfusion, the level of neutralizing antibody increased rapidly up to 1:640 in five cases, while that of the other four cases maintained at a high level (1:640). The clinical symptoms were significantly improved along with increase of oxyhemoglobin saturation within 3 d. Several parameters tended to improve as compared to pretransfusion, including increased lymphocyte counts (0.65 × 109/L vs. 0.76 × 109/L) and decreased C-reactive protein (55.98 mg/L vs. 18.13 mg/L). Radiological examinations showed varying degrees of absorption of lung lesions within 7 d. The viral load was undetectable after transfusion in seven patients who had previous viremia. No severe adverse effects were observed. This study showed CP therapy was well tolerated and could potentially improve the clinical outcomes through neutralizing viremia in severe COVID-19 cases. The optimal dose and time point, as well as the clinical benefit of CP therapy, needs further investigation in larger well-controlled trials.

Someone just sent me this link; haven't watched the whole thing yet, but researcher Doris Loh's analysis actually seems to be worth two hours of one's time.

wonder if the virus attacks the bodies ability to retain folate or iron... iron transports oxygen, and folate *and vitamin C* stimulates the bodies ability to make red blood cells to transport the iron to bind to the oxygen....might be why high dose C in an IV worked for some patients in China....don't have the study handy right now...oh, here: https://chemrxiv.org/articles/COVID-19_ ... n/11938173

WATCH: Dr Scott Jensen Reveals “Ridiculous” Covid19 Guidance
Minnesota State Senator says Department of Health guidelines instruct doctors to list Covid19 as cause of death, without being tested

Minnesota State Senator Scott Jensen appeared on a local news show to report that doctors were receiving instructions from the Minnesota Department of Health to report Covid19 as a cause of death, even if the patient was never tested.

Senator Jensen, who is also a practising physician, said he had never before in his thirty-five-year career received specific instructions on how to fill out a death certificate.

The apparent policy of Minnesota – to report any and all pneumonia or “flu-like illness” decedents as Covid19 cases, with or without a test – ties in with the US policy as described by the CDC’s official memos.

This is not new information, we covered the guidelines from the CDC, here.

In fact the governments of Italy, Germany, the UK and Austria all doing the same thing.

So, while Dr Jensen’s revelation isn’t as shocking as it would have been just 10 days ago, it does at least demonstrate that, within the medical world, these guidelines are not normal. In a separate interview with Lauran Ingraham, Jensen described the guidelines as “ridiculous”.

According to Jensen, citing a colleague, it is not usual practice to ever put “presumptions or probabilities” on a death certificate, but rather to “stick to the facts”.

The question still hangs in the air: Why do national and regional governments appear to be going out of their way to inflate the Covid19 death statistics?

Dr Jensen has his own idea:
"Well, fear is a great way to control people, and I worry about that. I worry that sometimes we’re just so interested in jazzing up the fear factor, that…you know, sometimes people’s ability to think for themselves is paralyzed if they’re frightened enough."
Thoughts to consider.

More than 3.7 billion people under the age of 50 – or 67% of the population – are infected with herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1), according to WHO’s first global estimates of HSV-1 infection published today in the journal PLOS ONE.
Imagine if all deceased were tested on the presence of herpes and if so then counted as herpes deaths, and the media creating a panic about this reporting the amount of herpes deaths every day, and more and more people getting tested for herpes and finding out they have it so not only the herpes deaths but also the herpes confirmed cases would grow day by day and the media kept focusing on this to the exclusion of all other news and never putting the numbers in any kind of context to average deaths per day in previous years, any other possible causes for excess mortality if it were even present would be giving no attention at all, regular hospital procedures would be cancelled because of the herpes epidemic, hospitals and governments would get a financial stimulus to report as many herpes deaths as possible, etc... just a thought experiment.

Deputy Chief Medical Officer for England: “These Are COVID-Associated Deaths,” Not Deaths “as a Result” of COVID
The body count used to lock up the United Kingdom is fraudulent, a senior health official reveals
Covid Cutties

For more than a month, governments across the world have tried to dance around the vital question of how their harrowing COVID Death Tolls are tabulated. Jenny Harries, Deputy Chief Medical Officer for England, has finally provided clarity on this issue, debunking the hurtful rumors that the UK tally is greatly exaggerated:

"Now for the UK, these are COVID-associated deaths. They are all sad events. They will not all be a death as a result of COVID"

Recall that her counterpart across the pond, US COVID Dominatrix Dr. Deborah Birx, recently boasted about America’s “very liberal approach to mortality.”

Economic suicide, resulting in unspeakable human suffering, coupled with global police state measures that would make a Stasi colonel cream himself. Was it worth it?

It often does. Unless you have specific suggestions, it's probably better when one contributes to raising the proportion of non-garbage than merely adding general and pointless complaint.
