Challenge to Skinner and LARED:

Come on here and defend your position on 9/11, in open debate, without fear of banning or deletion, and without the ability to ban or delete. Accusations of chronic moral cowardice are hardly less serious than charges of deliberate duplicity. You have been accused of both, with good reason, and you are entitled to defend yourselves. Do it here.

- Note to anyone who has a DU account: Please convey this challenge to the Moderator and the Boss, if you're not too scared of being tombstoned for doing so.

MacCruisKeen,

You are a bright star to this blog. Your ability to "see" is far above average.

on edit: I would be remiss not to notice Jeff's comments in this thread, which are of course cogent, and also on point.

I remember early during the Plame affair there was a character who passed himself off as an insider, in-the-know, promising that justice was coming "very soon". He seemed a little too smooth, and a little too good at gathering a following. It left me with a vaguely uncomfortable feeling. Not from any conscious decision, I stopped reading DU.

Keep in mind, these were the days when I still believed in John Aravosis and Kos.

I hope this gets wider press.
The place is a cesspool of spooks. I have NO PROBLEM believing that DU is a right wing front organization designed, as the OP says, to draw liberals out of the woodwork and monitor and marginalize them. As long as they are wasting all thier time on that forum and many of them seem to be there ALL THE TIME, they wont be out takin to the streets demanding real change.

I SERIOUSLY think you are on to something here and I would STRONGLY suggest nobody log in to that site ever again. I was banned there within an hour of signing up years ago and I have no intention of ever going back but I do read it often just to keep tabs on it and I see what you see, same thing, its spooky.

Where is evidence of "spooks" in this? I see the word get tossed around carelessly, and it shouldn't be.

There are many explanations that don't require a "spook" pulling the strings. Simple human nature explains it all quite readily.

I guess what I'm getting at is that yelling "spook" doesn't really accomplish much, especially when there is no real evidence of spook manipulation. Human beings are quite capable of acting like assholes, censoring material for silly reasons, and acting in coordination with what "spook" goals -- without having anything to do with actual intelligence agencies and their proxies.

It's like accusing someone of being a "disinfo agent." Of course real disinfo agents exist. But applying that label to someone effectively ends the discussion about the facts and ideas. It's a conversation-ender, and it turns the discussion into an accusation, and there's no way to proceed from there.

In the case of DU, what good does it do to call the mods/owners "spooks" without any evidence? None. I prefer to focus on the actions, and not the personalities. The actions speak for themselves.

Media, opinion shaping...is one of the most critical national security tasks that spooks do. Especially on the oh-so-dangerous internet.

The agents protecting General Wesley Clark's fake 2004 prez campaign on DU were coordinated and ruthless.

Web warfare, just like any other infowar, is done by trained and coordinated professionals and is not merely the symptoms of civilians acting out in fallible human ways.

Pigs will fly before either of those heroes dares to take up the challenge. As they themselves well know, ignorance, invisibility and the power to delete are the only tools they have in their intellectual toolbox.

Edited on Sun May-10-09 07:00 PM by Skinner
During this week's fund drive, we here at Democratic Underground have decided to try something new...

Just donate to Democratic Underground before 10pm ET (7pm PT) Monday, May 11, and you will be automatically entered to win a SIGNED hardback copy of "Dreams From My Father," by Barack Obama! .

http://www.democraticunderground.com/di ... 89x5630087
For the hard of hearing: that's not just signed, but SIGNED. (OMG, Skinner, how cool is THAT!!! K&R!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

The front page at DU currently also features ads for Volvo and FedEx.

Skinner should rename himself "Fleecer". (And I have yet to see his own Document of Authenticity. Surely the boys at Langley can rustle one up for him?)

Too friggin' cheap to use a professional, Skinner?

"Verified Autographs LLC" comes up a grand total of 6 times in a google. There are no memberships listed in any professional organizations for those dealing in historical documents, manuscripts and autographs, such as the ABAA. They actually emphasize that they are hobbyists more than once, not people who are capable of making a living at selling autographed sneakers. Obama isn't doing calligraphy here, he's signing his name. Who exactly certified their "calligraphy experts"?

"Submit any of your signed collectibles to our autograph verification department and have your items examined and verified by the most experienced collectors and calligraphy analysts in the industry"

"Our autograph review department consists of collectors and certified calligraphy experts who have been heavily involved in the hobby for over 20 years. This potent combination of expertise and experience allows Verified Autographs to provide an elite service that can be trusted a relied upon for time to come. We value the integrity of the hobby and are here to protect and secure your collectible investments."

Well if that is his signature, the big BO has a nice hand with style and flourish. Almost graffiti-art-like.

Any graphologists here? Love to see someone deconstruct and interpret that letter 'B'. To me, it kinda looks like a penis.
