Wow. I turned on, tuned in...and you know the next, really obligatory step, right? Not even sure how I ended up here today--I was researching an author I just read (Chris Jennings, Paradise Now), and somehow Jeff's name came back, and I guess I must have followed the trail of breadcrumbs. Pretty crummy crumbs, actually: essentially RI was a big-time dis-info dump fueled by unwitting dupes and their cynical paymasters kind-of-crap. I must have been one of the unwitting dupes, as no one ever paid me in any sort of way. Funny thing is, though, that even though I never post anything anywhere anymore, I do run into folks in the non-digital world who know about my cuttlefish days, one woman whose lab-mates in Northern California apparently even compiled a bunch of stuff I wrote back then into some kind of anthology that made the rounds among certain sleep-deprived scientists back in the Bush year. Now how weird is that? While I'd love to catch up (it's been many years now) I have a young kid to pick up from school and a grandkid coming over soon...yeah, well, the generations in my house are as convoluted as anything I ever wrote. Very kind words, btw, Iamwhomiam. Thanks.

Iridescent Cuttlefish is the reason I joined. I had something to say in a private message, and now I don't even remember what it was. Anyway, it's nice to hear from you, because I'd wondered what had happened to you. Glad to know your life is going well. :thumbsup

Hah! You got me!

And I hope Iamwhoiam is alright. It could be just nothing to say. Honestly all this political junk with the conventions has been simultaneously overwhelming and underwhelming at the same time. Like, what more can be said that hasn't been said already?

On a personal note, I start back to work tomorrow after 14 months being a happy homemaker. I'll still be around, but my posting hours will be more in line with a normal working adult (aka, not at 2am). I'm really nervous about going back to the profession that, in part, gave me a nervous breakdown. It will be a new environment, and we aren't having the trauma at home that we did the last year, so it will be better (I tell myself!). Here's hoping!

So correct - some of us lurk for years at a time.

PS Best to you Novem5er.
