That's not a word. English doesn't pluralize adjectives. It's conceivable that it has never before been spoken in the history of the language.

Is it possible to imagine the phrase emerging in conversation? The core phrase was introduced within the larger one of "what I like to call the Basket of Deplorables". Really? That all just rolled trippingly off your forked fucking tongue? Of course it did.

I'm estimating something north of 50k paid to a cabal of PR hacks to brainstorm and come up with that. Which would raise the question - to what end? What was the mission statement; the end purpose of its tactical deployment?

The first time I hear the news report of her saying "deplorables", my brain instantly went to Les Misérables, which in English means basically what it implies in French, the miserables aka the miserable people. Deplorables is exactly the same thing and it's, like you perfectly said, isn't an English word! Unless Hillary has been reading Victor Hugo or been watching old Broadway acts, I'm not sure where she conjured the word from. I think you are also correct when you say some PR firm came up with it because since when has Hillary really ever spoken off the cuff?

If it's a weird nod to Les Mis, the funny thing is that Trump is using it to rally his ragtag coalition of outside-the-beltway rebels. Marchons, marchons! he bellows to the crowd.

English doesn't do anything, it's the name of a language.

Speakers pluralize adjectives. It works, so it's fine.

Deliverables, for example. There's a movie called the Incredibles. I wish I was more often among the fuckables.

Doesn't matter what someone's rule book says. Speakers write those, too.

As for my opinion on this triviality (which probably cost no more than whatever her speech writers cost as a word rate) I'm closer to agreeing with this guy:
It was dumb for Clinton to say it aloud, but "bucket of deplorables" is my favourite thing to come of this election.

It's diplomat-speak, leftover from her years in the state department. French is the language of diplomacy.

hillary's polls seem to be collapsing quicker than her collapse at the 9/11 memorial memorializing the collapse of the twin towers.

A very simple explanation for Hillary's physical and mental problems is drugs. She's radiated with mammograms, vaccinated with Prevnar and Pneumovax, given steroids and antibiotics, taking Armor Thyroid and most importantly she is on Coumadin which is Warfarin, aka rat poison.

My father took coumadin for awhile until the effects made him really sick. Nasty stuff. He died of cancer a few years later. Here are some of the side effects:
Coumadin may cause you to bleed more easily, which can be severe or life-threatening. Seek emergency medical attention if you have any unusual bleeding, or bleeding that will not stop. You may also have bleeding on the inside of your body, such as in your stomach or intestines. Call your doctor at once if you have blood in your urine, black or bloody stools, or if you cough up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds.

Also call your doctor at once if you have:

pain, swelling, hot or cold feeling, skin changes, or discoloration anywhere on your body;
sudden and severe leg or foot pain, foot ulcer, purple toes or fingers;
sudden headache, dizziness, or weakness;

easy bruising or bleeding (nosebleeds, bleeding gums), purple or red pinpoint spots under your skin;
bleeding from wounds or needle injections that will not stop;
pale skin, feeling light-headed or short of breath, rapid heart rate, trouble concentrating;
dark urine, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes);
little or no urinating;
numbness or muscle weakness; or
pain in your stomach, back, or sides.
Common Coumadin side effects may include:

nausea, vomiting, mild stomach pain;
bloating, gas; or
altered sense of taste.
It's amazing to me how the elite with all of their money and access to information are just plain stupid when it comes to trusting the Medical Industrial Complex.

Yes,- the best healthcare on the planet.

Fill Hillary up with drugs and don't bother to warn her of toxins such as aspartame.

That is some healthcare.

I see she also drinks a lot and is proud of it, but no water.
All these things will continue as long as coercion remains a central element of our mentality.

I trace the origin of this utterance to the animated feature "The Incredibles", fwiw.

Interesting point. Clinton and her devout followers have been accused in the past of being the bourgeois.

No real "leaning" now. They're both Republicans. One a neocon and one a paleocon.

Come on Nordic, Trump has big boss neocons on board now (Woolsey!)

Either Trump or Clinton, I predict, will initiate a clamp-down on the Internet where we talk about this stuff. Just as Putin, who I am not exactly a fan of, has.

As for the US warmongering, it has sort of spun out of control. Frankly I think either Trump or Clinton's governments will be worse than Obama's at adding fuel to these fires...
