Given that Mumia saw many of his comrades in the Black Panther Party taken out by corrupt activities on the part of the feds and local police- whether by murder or unfair convictions,- I can understand what I think he might have done. He stumbled upon police officers seizing his brother, handcuffed on the street corner and if he reached under the seat of his cab, grabbed his gun and used it impulsively, I think I can understand why.

This doesn't mean what he may have done was right, nor does it mean that I encourage people to kill police officers or any other human beings- I don't- but it does mean that they threw the book at Mumia for what are probably political reasons, and through a (seemingly) unfair process. But I can understand why you'd be frustrated with lazy idiots who repeat totalistic arguments that they heard from somebody else, without bothering to really think about them...

Funny, I just went downstairs to grab a smoke, I was just thinking that same thing: I get why this guy was so angry, who knows how many times he'd been pulled from a car, beaten, abused, how many times his neighbor's homes were warrantlessly broken into by police (I just witnessed one of those the other day, no shit), etc, etc. so I can understand his frustration.

OK, so to tie this conversation about Mumia back to the original topic, it seems that things like critical thinking, nuanced arguments, and openness to other people's points of view are essential. Within that framework, we can talk about our differences and have dialogues that may have a chance of really getting somewhere.

The stakes are high- this is more than conspiratainment, not just a fight club.

OH SHIT!

Beeline just trotted out the Philadelphia Flyers avatar!

Some serious boarding is about to follow!

Not Waco

Stop that! I said boarding, not bombing! And it's not funny.

That's more like it.

As my motto goes: Let's go Mets, but Phillies over Yankees!

I'd say it was broadly anarchistic - employing that term broadly to denote inherent suspicion of & opposition to organised structures of top-down political authority of whatever ostensible ideological complexion - & “Left” as denoting a position of engagement with those institutions of authority in pursuance of directing society in a “progressive” direction.

Within that there is doubtless a split between anarcho-collectivists & anarcho-individualists – depending on the precise pathology of the various narcissistic, sociopathic & asperger-like personality disorders which various of our membership have been so floridly exhibiting in recent days

Morgan – that’s worth a bit more detail – I’d be interested in hearing about life at the vanguard of revolutionary struggle – ( or standing around outside Boot’s trying to sell newspapers ) ( Vanessa Redgrave was in the other one wasn’t she ? )

 thats the movie Fight Club should have been.

Instead we had another crappy dichotomy, consumer slaves vs. violent nutty men attacking banks. More entertaining than left-right, possibly more meaningful.

Oh, man, Flyers-Hawks in overtime. I'm with you, Beeline.

So many NWO (Northwestern Ontario) homies out there tonight, too.

There‘s an epidemic of hockey fever in Northwestern Ontario, and the only cure is to become part of the excitement.

From Thunder Bay to the Manitoba border, in particular, hockey fans will be glued to their televisions tonight for Game 6 of the Stanley Cup final.

In Thunder Bay and Fort Frances they‘ll be cheering on Chicago Blackhawks‘ Patrick Sharp and Duncan Keith, while Dryden, Kenora and Sioux Lookout residents will be putting their faith in Philadelphia Flyers Chris Pronger, Mike Richards and Ryan Parent to send the series back to Chicago for Game 7.

In Dryden, Flyer Fever Day has been declared by fans and everyone is encouraged to wear orange today in support of the Northwest Flyers threesome

Overtime playoff hockey is the best.

Ahh! They got 'em. Death by a phantom puck that disappeared.

The Hawks didn't know they'd won. Heh.

Good run, Flyers.
