The more response-able we are, the less accountable, and vice versa, the less responsible, the more accountable.

Responsibility has to do with being conscious; people driven by unconscious influences act compulsively; they aren't responsible for what they do, but they are accountable, because, who else is?

Isn't that what MK-ULTRA and creating poison containers is all about, turning people into avatars for their programmers' unconscious garbage, so they won't have to experience the payback?

Dr Jekyll wasn't responsible for what Mr Hyde did. He didn't even remember it. He was 100% accountable though because there wasn't anyone else there.

Before I talk about anything else, anything I find interesting, let me just say that blaming random internet "research" or Fake News © for anyone's peculiar or even violent behavior is ludicrous.

I guess I should own up to the dozen murders I am responsible for because I probably mocked the Columbine shooters in DOOM network death match.

We should also string up Dan Rather and five hundred of his compatriots for the million dead in Iraq.

Gah. It just irritates me, this disavowal of personal responsibility.

I don't let you tell me what to do and you're your own idiot if you let the internet decide your actions.

I think you are deconstructing the meaning of the words responsibility and accountability too far.
Extreme cases, mental health concerns, fictional characters shouldn't be part of an argument against
using basic humanity as a tool for building the truth.
Especially when there is so much detritus to work around.

Scary but there are parallels. The Trump campaign has deliberately fostered hate against Hillary Clinton and liberals. Trump has installed the (former?) head of a media organ that exalts hate as his chief strategist. This is troubling to say the least.
Also, Kellyanne Conway has said on TV that they are compiling a list.

Not saying this to scare people but I do think we need to not minimize the power that the media has.
Are they testing the waters and laying the groundwork for manipulating people with ill-founded theories and conjecture?

No but you have to pay some mind to the consequences and how you present your information.

Everyone has confirmation bias. Common law courts and scientific method are things that have developed to minimize the interference from confirmation bias. With any investigation in the common law system there is a trial that follows (unless the investigation can't find enough useful and usable evidence linking a suspect to the crime,) where the information on both sides is tested very robustly. (This is in an ideal world obviously, it doesn't always work that way in reality.) Someone under investigation is innocent until proven guilty by a court that tests the evidence the investigation presents.

Even then people associate investigation with guilt.

On the far-right site Infowars, talk-show host Alex Jones repeatedly suggested that Clinton was involved in a child sex ring and that her campaign chairman, John Podesta, indulged in satanic rituals.

“When I think about all the children Hillary Clinton has personally murdered and chopped up and raped, I have zero fear standing up against her,” Jones said in a YouTube video posted on Nov. 4. “Yeah, you heard me right. Hillary Clinton has personally murdered children. I just can’t hold back the truth anymore.” Jones eventually tied his comments about Clinton to U.S. policy in Syria.

According to YouTube, that video has been viewed more than 427,000 times.
The Jones video has since “been removed by the user” from YouTube.

We were, however, able to uncover the audio of Jones saying on his radio program that Clinton, “one of the most vicious serial killers the planet’s ever seen,” has personally raped and killed children and is secretly directing ISIS and Al Qaeda:

Jones is now trying to back away from his role in spreading the “Pizzagate” smear, which isn’t too surprising since he has a record of lying about some of his most egregious claims.

When Hillary Clinton noted that Jones had alleged that the victims of the Sandy Hook massacre were actually child actors, Jones denied every saying it and accused Clinton of lying. But the record shows that Jones had said just that:

Sandy Hook is a synthetic completely fake with actors, in my view, manufactured. I couldn’t believe it at first. I knew they had actors there, clearly, but I thought they killed some real kids. And it just shows how bold they are, that they clearly used actors.
Not that any of this will matter to Trump, who Jones said called him after the election to thank him for his support and to promise to return to his show.

Bingo! I think this kind of thinking results from an elite mindset ...that people without the full backing of the elite establishment can't be trusted. It's ridiculous! Why does RI even exist if not to question this, what's proven to be, untrustworthy entity?

I mean the masses can't win. When they do nothing but sit back and let the mainstream media do all the thinking for them, they're lazy, too-stupid-to-live couch potatoes. When the masses decide they're sick of the outright lies and start researching issues for themselves, they're irresponsible vigilantes who will undoubtedly provoke unspeakable horror upon the world. Really? As far as I know, there is only one very small group of extraordinarily wealthy and powerful people who provoke and unleash unspeakable horror upon the world, and it ain't us or anyone like us.

As Nordic implied, we should rid the world of Hollywood, mainstream media, professional sports, etc. first because they have far greater impact than a bunch of "batshit" "crazy" Internet researchers, who, in my experience, are far more responsible and trustworthy, if only because they have nothing to gain, nor the power and resources to deceive the world at large.

Take 9/11. The establishment immediately blames Muslims without any real proof. What happens? An increase in the attack of Muslims. I bet that there is not a day that goes by that the establishment media doesn't provoke some sort of violent response somewhere in the world.

On the other hand, I occasionally follow the voat stream . The moment someone posts something that doesn't prove credible, or lacks sources, the backlash is immediate. Again, the establishment media doesn't provide anything but their word, and the only backlash that results is on small forums, such as RI, that most people never heard of.

Remember, most people only know what the mainstream media tells them about "pizzagate": that a poor pizza shop owner is a victim of rabid Internet conspiracy theorists. That's it! Most people will never see the strange pictures, strange artwork, strange emails, strange comments, strange connections, etc., and most people know absolutely nothing about Franklin Scandal, Dyncorp, Haiti, Presidio, etc. etc., etc.,

Rudy Giuliani said Friday that he knew the FBI planned to review more emails tied to Hillary Clinton before a public announcement about the investigation last week, confirming that the agency leaked information to Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.

The former New York City mayor and Trump surrogate has recently dropped a series of hints that he knew in advance that the FBI planned to look at emails potentially connected to Clinton’s private server. The agency discovered the messages while investigating former Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) for allegedly sexting with a minor. (Weiner’s estranged wife, Huma Abedin, is a top aide to Clinton.)

Giuliani has bragged about his close ties to the FBI for months, mentioning in interviews that “outraged FBI agents” have told him they’re frustrated by how the Clinton investigation was handled. And two days before FBI Director James Comey announced that the agency was reviewing the newly uncovered emails, Giuliani teased that Trump’s campaign had “a couple of surprises left.”

“You’ll see, and I think it will be enormously effective,” he said in an interview with Fox News.

All of this has led to suspicion that someone in the FBI is leaking information to Giuliani and the Trump campaign. The Daily Beast’s Wayne Barrett explored those suspicions on Thursday, detailing how Giuliani’s ties to the agency date back to his days as a U.S. attorney in the 1980s.

Giuliani confirmed that notion Friday during an appearance on “Fox & Friends.”

“I did nothing to get it out, I had no role in it,” he said. “Did I hear about it? You’re darn right I heard about it, and I can’t even repeat the language that I heard from the former FBI agents.”

Giuliani also said he expected Comey’s announcement to come weeks before it did.

“I had expected this for the last, honestly, to tell you the truth, I thought it was going to be about three or four weeks ago, because way back in July this started, they kept getting stymied looking for subpoenas, looking for records,” he said.

FBI officials knew about the newly discovered emails weeks before Comey’s announcement, according to multiple reports.

Giuliani insisted he had nothing to do with Comey’s decision to announce the probe prior to Election Day ― a move that both Republicans and Democrats have condemned. He also insisted his information comes from “former FBI agents.”

“I’m real careful not to talk to any on-duty, active FBI agents. I don’t want to put them in a compromising position. But I sure have a lot of friends who are retired FBI agents, close, personal friends,” he said. “All I heard were former FBI agents telling me that there’s a revolution going on inside the FBI and it’s now at a boiling point.”

Trump press secretary Hope Hicks did not immediately return a request for comment.
