Right wing? Sure. Fascist/racist/sexist? No. I've had enough of that in my lifetime. Perhaps it's some failure on my part that I cannot turn such people around one iota, but I don't think so and I'm not inclined to blame myself for being unable to get someone to question whether Sean Hannity is a good source of information, as an example. Many people on the right are beyond the reach of reason and really only deserving of derision and ridicule. Wishing it were otherwise will not make it so.

The responses to my post only serve to amplify my main points. We can definitely make a better R.I., but we do need to deal more effectively with the racist/fascist type posting- be it more or less honest and open- and the knee jerk defense of such postings here.

I would say that identifying a racist as... a racist... can be- and most often is- right action. And bluenoseclaret surely is one of the most blatant racists around these parts...

Don't I get a mention alongside BNC this time?

Seriously, some sort of scale of levels of (crypto) fascism might be useful. I would like to know where I stand.

Jakell is a more slippery advocate of fascist/racist type ideas- and probably too arrogant about his crypto/third positionist trickery...

I haven't advocated any such ideas, and you will be unable to cite anwhere that I have, hence me not bothering to ask you for citations.

As to me being arrogant... probably so, such a thing would be a matter of opinion.

Could some sort of vote be arranged on whether a Fascism/saluting/stomping/balaclava-wearing/insignia sub-forum be created?

Seeing the multitude of threads devoted to this consistantly at the top of GD gives the impression that RI is pretty much swamped by fascists.

I think it may be detering some people from joining or partaking.

For the record you seem to be compiling and so there is no misunderstanding, that comment was not directed at you, obviously, as can be read here and discerned with little to no effort:

viewtopic.php?f=8&t=38255

This was already pointed out to you when you claimed it was directed at you. You would think that since you have already been made aware of that error that if you were going to continue to refer to the Solace quote then you would make sure people understood who it was being directed at. Not providing a link makes it look as though you are intentionally trying to mislead people. but I suppose it was just an honest oversight. I'm sure you regret the error.

This would no doubt lead to an influx of such types and the actual dearth of them might make one wonder if the outside world really is full of these types, or why they are suspiciously absent.

Note, this thread is not even titled in this way, and yet here you all are again.

Simply saying, "you are WRONG" means nothing, if you don't back your argument up with solid reasoning and bonafide facts.

ON EDIT: added quotation mark

the interesting thing is that as you go under the surface you find a hell of a lot of decent, caring, loyal people under those ignorant exteriors which are often just bravado and front
i was constantly known and baited for my left-wing views and loved nothing more than to get involved in a 'debate', but i also knew the limits and who not to push too far

the working class men of Australia were particularly hateful to our previous female Prime Minister which i found really sad and disgusting, a lot of 'blokes' still find the idea of a powerful and intelligent woman threatening - pathetic eh

I admire you for such effort in RL.

I think it obvious that a message board is not a place where it's possible to get "under the surface" in this way. Not designed for it. People who come here to push such views subtly or obviously (as in the case of bluenose) aren't going to "be themselves" in a real life context.
