The contents of anti-depressant pills

I've been reading the book <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--><em>Talking Back To Prozac</em><!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> lately, about SSRIs. <br><br>Chemically, SSRIs are just SSRIs. However, some seem to affect more neurochemicals than others. Zoloft, for instance, affects dopamine and epinephrine as well as serotonin. <br><br>The book is very interesting, and includes cases where users have reported experiencing the effects as an altered state similar to amphetamines, or other street drugs. Some people report effects outside the norm, in terms of being able to feel the effects after a single use, or only a few uses. The usual line about SSRIs is that they need to be taken for 1-3 weeks before experiencing a noticeable effect.<br><br>Other people get effects like you've reported- they get zombified by it.<br><br>I once had a customer in my cab who was in a really bright euphoric mood. She talked about getting a high high from Prozac- and alcohol, with which she mixed it quite cheerfully. It was a Friday evening...<br><br> <p></p><i></i>

Best to check medical websites for information about ingredients. Once you've researched it thoroughly, discuss your own personal needs with a medical professional with whom you can talk to face-to-face, not anonymous posters on a bulletin board who don't know your medical history.<br><br>There are a lot of different anti-depressants, and they can behave differently due to dosages, interactions with other medications, and your own particular biochemistry at that particular time. i tried SSRI for a week and was brought to the ER with sever dehydration and i was vomitting even intake of water. Apparently some people cannot use these medications at all. i don't think anyone really knows what these medications do. its a trial/error situation. I would not recommend it to anyone, if I nearly died, than something in it is dangerous. <p></p><i></i>

are you wondering about what else might be in there that's not on the offical list of ingredients? I've sure never heard of anyone getting the pills independently anaylised for contents.<br>...but what you report isn't all that uncommon a reaction. They seem to just try different pills at near random 'til one seems to 'work' for the patient. but that's just me talking, avalon is right about taking medical advice from random posters. <p></p><i></i>

it sounds really simple but getting enough deep restfull sleep is very important when dealing with this.<br><br>For anyone interested here's a site with some good info in a thing they call their Depression Learning Path. I had a good friend who was prescribed prozac when it just came out, and a few weeks later he went amoc, attacked his best friend, and luckily instead of killing him, his fist went into the windshielf window. he needed medical attention but he didn't end up in jail. <br>Seroxat is "unofficially" prescribed by obgyns to women with PMS moods, they take it 5 days before the menstrual date, and it alleviates the stress, and then stop it and start again only 5 days before D day. it was discovered accidentally. It proves that the medication has immediate effects contrary to what it indicated in official publications.<br><br>depression...ah, what a eurocentric privilege...<br><br><br> <p></p><i></i>

(they started pilot programs in about 10 countries now, assigning each country with a "symptom" to work on).<br><br>Naturally, it would be nicer to call all the starving africans dying of HIV, "depressed" and gracefully provide them with some "trauma memory erasing" pills or something, so their death is made pleasant, and somewhat cheerful. I can already see the debate in american TV - "is it actually immoral to send someone to another dimension with a "happy death pill" rather than let them slowly go to their inevitable death by hunger ?"<br>Is death really that bad if the brain doesn't know it is dying ? or something...or, are we doing them a favor by harvesting their organs ?
