DANGER MOUSE and SPARKLEHORSE
visuals by DAVID LYNCH
Dark Night Of The Soul Art Basel 2009
December 2 - 6, 2009
3100 NW 7 Avenue / Miami / Florida / 33127

Musical visionary Danger Mouse and iconoclastic filmmaker David Lynch pool their talents and reveal the stunning and haunting photographs from their groundbreaking project Dark Night of the Soul at Art Basel Miami Beach 2009.

Dark Night of the Soul is a full-length album and illustrated book, combining the talents of Danger Mouse, David Lynch and celebrated rock recluse Sparklehorse. In addition to the hardcover book, the album includes vocals from the Flaming Lips, Julian Casablancas of The Strokes, Frank Black of the Pixies, Iggy Pop, Nina Persson of The Cardigans, Suzanne Vega and many others.

The exhibition consists of over 50 original photographs by David Lynch which are displayed alongside the accompanying soundtrack by Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse. Seven limited edition prints of each photograph will be available for purchase. The exhibition will open December 2, 2009 as the much anticipated kickoff to Art Basel week 2009.

I don't think I'm psychic. Maybe that's why I'm not. Although, I have occasionally had some really weird precognitive experiences.

With Lynch's implied endorsement and having a high regard for your musical tastes I'll have to check them out.

Looking more closely at my previous post I see I made a mistake with the link after. The link is to a youtube explanation of Plato's cave allegory (which was meant to go in the chains thread) instead of the source of the story.

Since I'm always interested in "mistakes" this screen capture is from the youtube at the link:

So maybe it all makes sense now. There were, however, no birds or girls in the vid, so rather than risk the wrath of the curator I better throw this in:

...which was also intended to go in the chains thread, but unambiguously meets the criteria of this thread as well.

You know what's even weirder though... that Lynch photo resonates with the cave allegory in so many ways. First of all a camera is essentially a little plato's cave of sorts. And then there is the element of fire, although there are two light sources, fire being but one of them and the lesser, and there is a puppet in the form of the lawn flamingo and even a brick wall in the background. It's sort of like an inverted Plato's cave. But I'll confuse myself if I think any more about it.
