Many of us who read and talk about the evil that exists in high places are afraid. We are paralyzed with fear. We know of the awesome power, or seemingly awesome power, that is arrayed and brought to bear against those who speak out. With that thin thread of fear, the Powers That Be have kept a sleeping giant tied down. But that is only because the giant doesn't realize he's a giant. Because the millions, and billions, of individuals comprising the giant haven't yet realized how to act as one. If they ever did -- if even a fraction of them ever did, they could rise up and brush off the threads like so much spider web and utterly crush the tiny band of Liliputians who now seem so powerful. What if everyone in a position to know anything were to come forth, at one time, and blow the whistle loud and clear? What if, on one day, tens or hundreds of thousands of people in a "position to know" were to come out and tell the world what they know? They can't find, murder, torture, fire, demote, threaten, or imprison a million whistleblowers at once! The only kind of dissent they can crush is isolated dissent. Never before have the sayings been truer that we have nothing to fear but fear itself--and that if we cannot all hang together, we will all hang separately. I hearby proclaim that July 4 of this year shall be known as National Whistleblowers Day. (July 4 because -- to take back the phraseology from the neocons -- I believe we Americans owe it to the world to spread freedom and destroy evil.) I call upon everyone in any position to have "the goods" on the leaders, the elites, the powerful institutions; to expose fraud, corruption, theft and propaganda; to come on and spit it out! Secrecy oaths and laws do not matter, especially if the actions being protected are unlawful. Soldiers, officers, operatives--your primary duty (at least in the USA) is to uphold the Constitution, not some bogus "National Security" law. It doesn't matter how. Come out and show your face, or do it anonymously. Contact the press or put it out on the Web, at Rigorous Intuition and likeminded sites, or on your own blog. The important thing is to lose your fear and get the truth out. Likewise, I call upon every pro-liberty/truth-activist site and group to launch a "Blow the Whistle This July 4" campaign. The moment this happens -- the moment Fear is defeated and Truth is released -- the party is OVER for the evil bastards who run this world! Readers, feel free to copy this message to any bulletin board, blog, e-mail group or other forum! p.s. What a great idea ! Those of us not in "official circles" meanwhile might at least phone up radio stations and bombard the "official media" with email asking the obvious and yet apparently "awkward" questions. Send at least 10 to different sources about different topics is my best advice. Phone at least 4 talk shows under different names about different topics. If you dont get through, do it on July 5th, and then 6th and so on and so on ! Hopefully that will at least make these guys defacate their trousers for once in their lives <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/laugh.gif ALT=":lol">

What a GREAT IDEA!!!! I LOVE the idea of whistles as a unique American version of Venezuelan's banging pots -- the symbolism and imagery is just SO right-on and powerful, exactly what we need to wipe the slate, sound the alarm, signal our anger and outrage, announce our activism, declare our united solidarity, 'voice' our identity, a 'message' that We Ain'T Gonna Take It anymore! Imagine a coupla million whistles blowing across this land! This is something that can keep growing and growing, IF it doesn't get trivialized or co-opted. The larger issue of speaking-out about specific incidents of endemic fraud and corruption and criminality, naming names and time and places details, and passing it on -- Yeah, that could be a very powerful catalyst for chjange and as a way for folks to realize how BIG We, The People really are; And too, there's just an awful LOT of information already in the public domain and in archives, documenting how utterly rotton some of the most public officials are -- we NEED to hold them accountable, and point OUT their obvious ploy in often using contrived National Security excuses to hide the evidence of their fraud and treason, their felonies and betrayals. Shine the light to foil the darkness they use as 'cover' ... IMO, too, this HAS to be an ongoing thing, tho the symbolism of July 4 is sure powerful, turn it into a new, more significant anniversary to keep inspiring the movement for truth and social justice; Shine-ON! The neocon media differs not at all from the Nazi propaganda machine. The neocon media fosters the same hatred and blood lust: kill the Iraqis, invade Syria, bomb the Iranians, devise "useable nukes" to subdue the Muslims, kill the American traitors who criticize our fuhrer, bend the world to our exceptional will. How much more shame and complicity will Americans allow Bush and his neocon brownshirts to shovel onto their shoulders before Americans say "enough!" and remove from office the war criminal who has sullied America's good name?

What a wonderful and imaginative idea! All of the suggestions are great-we could also wear whistles on strings around our necks to work or school, and when people ask about them, let it rip! And not only on the 4th, but every day. Pins that say "I'm a whistleblower" would have the same effect. In a show of solidarity, we could all literally blow our whistles at noon on the 4th- in the street, at work (discreetly, of course) on the radio, off our balcony's, anywhere we might be- Such a lovely, non-violent way to show our dissaproval and anger- I'm all for it!<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)">

You are right on. And not only would we want to celebrate past and current Whistleblowers and encourage new ones, but we could also make that day about educating the public on the myriad of challeges and threats facing Whistle Blowers, and the <a href="http://www.govexec.com/dailyfed/0605/061605c1.htm">continuing steps towards eroding their protections further</a>. And just as importantly, we need to make National Whistleblower Day about <a href="http://www.therandirhodesshow.com/randirhodes/messageboards/index.php?showtopic=55333&st=20">finding new solutions and protections</a> for the people that are risking their lives to save our asses.
