It's sad to see this guy try to revise history. He's trying to spin this drama he initiated as being something from way in the past. He started an attack thread called "Desertfae?" on September 28th, 2009.

I was a lurker back then. It took me five minutes to find some ARG centered blog, and I saw Rachel apologizing for not understanding ARG rules. Her story added up long before AD continued to pile on. It was only after a gazillion newspapers were trumpeting her story, that AD and the NMN crew started to change their tune. Now it has evolved into their spin that Rachel is being played by people who will cover up the Octopus. The Octopus can't be covered up. It is too late for that. I'm not saying many will see jail time. It's like with Bush, Cheney and their crones being war criminals. They aren't going to prison, but history will show they were war criminals. Rachel has shown that there is an Octopus. She hasn't had to stoop to going cuckoo bananas in court like Dixon or make crazy claims of satanic pedophile rings that turn obvious stuff like weapon deals and the stealing of Promis on the Cabazon Reservation, links to Iran-contra, the BCII scandal, the October Surprise, etc. into tinfoiltainment.

When there's shadiness in the picture, you should never -- and seriously, never -- respond to this kind of open-ended, curiosity-arousing invitation to contact someone on a phone line, at an e-mail address, or in a place specified by the other party. Unless maybe if the request is accompanied by a clear and sensible explanation of why he or she can't communicate with you through the extant regular channels not controlled by him or her that are already wide open and available to everyone.

You really shouldn't do that even if you're being offered the Holy Grail. But you definitely shouldn't do it when the invitation is being made entirely at the instigation of the other party, a person from whom you haven't even been seeking anything in particular. I don't mean to be dramatic. It's probably perfectly innocent nine times out of ten. So it probably is in this case, I'd emphatically like to add. No personal insinuations are intended at all. Or anyway, not serious ones. Because I did already make that "sponge" reference. But that was a joke.

My point is more that even when it's probably fine, you shouldn't gamble on "probably" when any part of the larger context in which the offer occurs includes as many dead bodies as this one does.
