Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd
Candlelight Series

The Art of Lieder

featuring
Gil Zilkha, bass-baritone
Sheryl Stack, piano

8PM, Friday, May 9th

Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd
3201 Windsor Road, Austin, 78703
http://www.gsaustin.org/who_and_where

Tickets: $10 ($8 for seniors and students)

Long-time Austin-area bass-baritone Gil Zilkha and pianist Sheryl
Stack present an evening of favorites from the German art song
repertoire, including works by Brahms, Schubert, and topped off by a
complete performance of Schumann¹s heart-rendering song-cycle,
Dichterliebe. To add a bit of French art song to the mix, they will
also perform Faure¹s evocatively beautiful song-cycle, Mirages.

Dichterliebe
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dichterliebe
The Prologue (Es war 'mal ein Ritter trübselig und stumm - There once was a Knight, woeful and silent..) tells of the sorrowful knight that sits gloomily in his house all day, but by night is visited by his fairy (nixie) bride, and dances with her until daylight returns him to his little poet's room (Poeten-stübchen). The 65 poems follow, of which the 16 of the Dichterliebe are a selection. The conclusion of it all is that he is going to put the old bad songs and dreams, all his sorrowful love and suffering into a huge coffin, which twelve giants will throw into the sea. This catastrophe is slightly reminiscent of Schubert's Die schöne Müllerin, in which the hero ends by drowning himself in the brook which he has followed through the cycle.

I dream- Brahms, Es träumte mir - Gil Zilkha, bass-baritone [and Sheryl Housh Stack] emphasis added... pssst, also, can I quietly add she was a teaching assistant at Univ. of Texas, Austin.

And replace it wit, what? Occam's box-cutter? ...lol h/t to 8bit

See it's those evil musicians. They warned us about them in Reefer Madness. I better go burn my fiddle before it makes me do something bad.

i gotta ask:

"Eye witness Thad Lindsey said he saw a 30-foot fireball and
a cloud of smoke. “Then it started raining debris. All of the windows were blown out. I couldn’t see any more,” he
said."

is that an appropriate size fireball?
debris raining down??
All of the windows blown out??

Authorities have been unable to reach the crash impact site
and do not yet know the condition of the pilot, Clopton
said.

“That is part of the building that is unstable,” she said.
Battalion Chief Palmer Buck said that part of building has
collapsed and some steel beams are bowed down.

The pilot did not file a flight plan or, as far as FAA
officials know at this time, have any other contact with the
agency.

yet they seem to have identified him very quickly.
too quickly?
how much of the planes was left?
seems like the numbers would be the only way to id him.

Twice they swooped on my bank accounts, emptying them entirely without notice (the first time causing my eviction), and once they garnished 100% of my wages for three months, so that I lost a perfectly good job and couldn't pay them a thing while the interest and penalties continued to accrue mercilessly. Had I filed originally, I would have owed them nothing.

All this as a way of saying that there is very little you could do in the way of tax protesting that I would find unreasonable.

Yeah. That doesn't account for the State of California taxes and penalties for the period, though, which were also considerable.

Some info on the victims, and a picture of the pilot.

Austin Police Department officials released an update this afternoon on the victims from today’s plane crash at the Echelon Building at 9430 Research Blvd.

Authorities said the person reported missing this morning is still unaccounted for; however, family members have been notified. They would not release the individual’s name.

According to a release from APD, 13 injuries were reportered with 11 being treated at the scene. The other two victims, both males, were transported to the hospital with critical injuries.

One victim was later airlifted to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, said Lisa Cortinas, spokeswoman with APD.

Officials would not confirm information about the pilot due to an ongoing investigation by APD, Austin Fire Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation and the National Transportation Safety Board. Officials said the FBI is taking the lead on the investigation.

After being shut down most of the day, the Georgetown Municipal Airport has reopened. According to witness reports the suspect’s car was reportedly found in or in front of Hanger I15. Authorities were investigating what they thought was a suspicious package. However, they later said that the content of the vehicle was not dangerous.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the FBI Command Post at 210-650-6199.

Source: FBI Knew Austin Attack Was Coming

A trusted source has told this office that the FBI knew Austin was going to be attacked today and had dispatched officers from its Dallas headquarters yesterday afternoon to be in place for today’s incident.

The source claims that a confidential memo was circulated yesterday detailing that a building in Austin was going to be the target of an attack today. He was told this by an informant who works in the Dallas FBI office.

Four FBI agents hurriedly left the Dallas office yesterday to be ready and on the scene for the aftermath of the incident, according to the informant, who was shaken when he saw events unfolding today and put two and two together.

We cannot confirm the accuracy of the claim but the source is known to us and has no motivation for inventing the story.

The fact that pilot Joe Stack changed his manifesto at least 27 times before the final version suggests that he had been writing it for days and this could have been what tipped off the FBI in the build up to the attack.

The claim dovetails with reports we are receiving from Austin residents that the FBI were immediately on the scene after the plane crash and were filming both the building and eyewitnesses.

A separate witness told KXAN News that there were Hazmat teams and fire trucks in place across the street before the plane struck the building.

Infowars reporters who spoke to neighbors at Stack’s house, which he had burned down before crashing the plane, expressed surprise at how quick emergency services responded to the fire. One neighbor, named Elbert, said that emergency crews arrived five minutes after he made the 911 call.

Whether the attack was the work of a lone individual or part of a larger set-up, the aftermath is being exploited to the full by the corporate media and people like Glenn Beck, who are blaming the incident on Constitutionalists and the liberty movement, implying that anyone who shares any of the grievances outlined in Stack’s lengthy manifesto are also intent on crashing planes into buildings.

Of course, the previous staged terror attack, the Christmas Day underwear bomber incident, was proven to be a set-up and the authorities repeatedly had to change their cover story after eyewitness Kurt Haskell, who was initially derided by the media, was eventually proven right in the fact that the bomber was allowed to board Flight 253 by order of the State Department.

Authorities were similarly prepared in advance of the 9/11 attacks in New York City. As part of the Tripod II exercise, FEMA deployed on September 10 to set up a command post at Pier 29 supposedly in preparation for a biowarfare exercise scheduled for September 12.

We are providing the following tip line for people in Austin to send their eyewitness and news tips about this incident to us.

The number is 512-646-4444.

At about the 3:40 mark in this video is where these news hounds first start to hear of a connection between the house fire and the plane crash...

Elbert Hutchins, who lives one house away, said the house caught fire about 9:15 a.m. He said a woman and her teenage daughter drove up to the house before firefighters arrived.

"They both were very, very distraught," said Hutchins, a retiree who said he didn't know the family well. "'That's our house!' they cried. `That's our house!'"

So maybe he didn't set fire to the house with them in it after all, which would restore at least a little bit of my sympathy for him.

Hey Lup,

At about the 4:05 mark in this news video the reporter says:

"we are told that a neighbor vaulted a fence, went into the house and rescued the woman, Sheryl Stack, a musician here in Austin, and their 12 year old daughter..."

Just for the record...I listened to the video and the woman claims that there was "one firetruck with some hazmat stuff" close by...As for the rest, I really can't believe PP's "FBI sources" very much since that site has so little credibility and a "shill factor" that is off the charts. I'll bet dollars to donuts that this does not lead to much of anything crackdown wise except for maybe some security restrictions on small planes/airports. The guy was fairly typically American in that he blames both left and right but most of all blames the IRS. There may be some brief pieces trying to draw some Tea Party connection but there are nothing but vague rhetorical links so it will fade as soon as Sarah Palin wags her tongue in public again...
It is a sad tragedy and certainly not the first time misdirected anger was directed at IRS bureaucrats - lower-level I would imagine- and certainly the odds that he could've killed personnel totally unrelated to the IRS makes him nothing less than a depressed psychopath. Kill yourself - fine, call Kevorkian. Kill random others...

ETA: Yeah I am seeing contradictory stories about whether wife and daughter were in house or drove up when it was blazing. Dickheaded to burn it down but triple-dickhead if done with wife and daughter inside...
