Oh dear oh dear. I'm too full of mischief.

Horrid old me wrote:Oh, and c2w, don't get your knickers in a twist.

I'm sorry c2w, for this remark. It actually might be seen to imply an undercurrent of misogyny and sexism that I did not intend. But it was a phrase I often heard growing up in a large and largely female household. I meant to edit it out though. In context it sounded a little patronising.

I know I'm patronising. Pompous, too.

Although on the other hand, I know a few men who like to wear knickers. I really think nice lingerie is an essential part of the whole ensemble, if you know what I mean.

:D

Besides which, I have far more admiration for women typically than men. Although in the arena of western politics there have been a few infamous women in the last thirty years. Margaret Thatcher, Madeleine Albright (sp?) and Hilary Clinton come to mind. The worst are overwhelmingly male of course. Outside of politics I find women typically more humane and intelligent than men. Also wiser. I try to consider myself really quite genderless. A genderless, eternal spirit. Like I hope we all are. Or something of that nature. Although no doubt I have all the unfortunate "male" traits, whatever they may be. How far is gender a social construction? Gosh that's an interesting question. At any rate, I certainly have many unfortunate traits, regardless of how gender specific they are.

While I'm here, I'll apologise to wintler2 again.

Choice note you strike at the end there, your 'love me love me SLAP!' trip is obvious, except possibly to you.

No, no, it's obvious to me too. I like to try to be kind and humorous, but I have a wicked tongue in my head. I do restrain it a great deal actually. But that is no comfort to you, nor excuse for me. I'm sorry. I'm only having fun. The computer said this would be fun, and it was right. However, I honestly don't want to generate any ill feeling at all anywhere in the cosmos. I regret it a great deal when I do. You can always tell me to stick my apology. I won't hold it against you. I'm glad you oppose the mega corporations and allied conservative think tanks that are largely responsible for several large messes the human race currently finds itself in.

Best wishes to you both.

However, I dont promise not to post in that Clive Hamilton thread again!

I'd like to apologise to you, Barracuda for anything I might have ever said which caused you offence.

I was horrified when you accused me of equivocating or insinuating something on that PCR thread. It really made me paranoid about misunderstandings around here, hence my other apology elsewhere. I'm sorry for any crossed wires between us.

But I have loved loads of your recent posts, the stuff from Vallee about microwave weapons, and that post about Cary Grant was fascinating too. Not to mention your article about the stripper which was one hell of a read. So, thanks sincerely for all of that.

Let's all be nice. I love niceness.

Sorry for using loads of winking smiley faces. I know in my heart that it's wrong, but I keep doing it anyway.

Help! 82_28, make them stop, they are being mean to me!

I meant simply to gently chide Alice in a friendly way. I apologise unreservedly. It's a dreadful thing when domestic responsibilities take second place to a silly message board. I should know! Mea culpa! You should see the state of my bathroom!

The truth is I am very glad to see Alice posting again, which is one of the reasons I decided to respond on her thread. It was an interesting read. But I'm feeling awfully sad now after nordic and wombat's remarks, especially since I meant no offense and have always appreciated Alice's contributions. I don't think I have ever been 100% in agreement with any member's posts.

I'm forever doomed to be misinterpreted around here. It's no good at all for my paranoia.

First pompous, then a Koch propagandist, then a useful idiot, and now creepy, fake and condescending! It's almost enough to make a fellow not feel wanted.

Hopefully Alice will see your response.

Is it too late to edit that in the other thread? Because intended or not, it came across pretty awfully!

I'm sure she will man, I don't think she will mind what I said, I really hope not. I don't want to derail that other thread. Somehow loads of stuff I say here seems to be misinterpreted. I don't think anyone appreciates my sense of humour. To be quite honest, when someone responds in an unfriendly manner to me on this forum, I get extremely upset. Crazy, aint it? Everyone likes to be liked.

That's why I'm always to be found here in the apology thread.

While I'm here, I shall apologise en masse to everyone who thinks I'm a dick.

I can speak only for myself of course, but I normally consider what you have to say to be valuable, Hammer of Los.

Most of the time, I agree with your commentary — and, even when I don't, what you're saying is an intelligently stated alternate point of view.

I'm glad you're here. Cheers.

Simulist, I very much appreciate you saying that. I enjoy your posts tremendously, but since I typically agree with every word you post, further commentary on my part is redundant. I've been meaning to tell you for months that I hold you in the absolute highest regard.

Your good self, and 82_28, and the Sounder are amongst my very favourite posters here.

Isn't it nice to be nice?

On the other hand, I used to like the Wombat but I'm going off him a bit.

Oh, and I forget to mention in the litany of calumnies that I have suffered that I have also been called disingenous and equivocating!

Really, Hammer, I wasn't offended; I understood what you meant. And after all, a woman's work is NEVER done. It so happened that I didn't do laundry today because I did 3 loads yesterday. But today has been unbelievably long and tiring, up at 6 and I can't believe I'm still posting at 2 am.

I'm been doing some editing work from home and that's what I was busy with in between checking in on RI. (RI is my 'little yellow pill') I actually got a lot done today and managed to cook a very nice dinner, too: lentil soup, fresh salad with dijon/olive oil dressing, fillet of sole coated with herbed flour and pan-fried in butter, and onion rice. All from scratch, except the soup, which I get frozen and nuke in the microwave. We grown-ups enjoyed it, but the kids would rather have had McDonald's, I think.

I think I'm babbling. Gotta hit the sack, now.

A woman's work is never done? Isn't that a trifle sexist? I get very upset when the wife tries to put some laundry on. I tell her that's my job.

Now me, I'm a mini Doris Day. I should have put this in favourite movie scenes, much better than Tarantino!;

I so love this movie. It not only has transvestitism, but the lesbian subtext is hilarious!
