Passive culling

Postby Peachtree Pam » Thu Sep 01, 2005 2:42 pm

This is what I meant by culling. IT IS INTENTIONAL. Do you think for one moment that Bush cares how many poor black people die in La and Miss??? HE COULDN'T CARE LESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The more that die, the fewer votes against Jeb in 08.

If this had taken place in Orange County, California, you would have seen overwhelming, immediate help within a few hours.

I'd like to see people reminded of what it's like when Bush visits. You know, closure of airspace, patrolling AWACS, choppers overflying, 27 vehicle entourage, motorcycle outriders, AF1, serfs away from windows and so forth.

Makes for some contrast.

Re:OUR GOVERNMENT IS TURNING DOWN AID FROM CANADA

Planes are ready to load with food and medical supplies and a system called "DART" which can provide fresh water and medical supplies is standing by. Department of Homeland Security as well as other U.S. agencies were contacted by the Canadian government requesting permission to provide help. Despite this contact, Canada has not been allowed to fly supplies and personnel to the areas hit by Katrina. So, everything here is grounded. just wanted to let y'all know what my news is showing...

they showed helicopter views of people writing on rooftops why they need immediate help, i.e. one was a diabetic without meds.
they explained about the buses to Houston, but didn't mention anyone being turned down.
Then! They showed police attacking a crowd of black people.. and the announcer said that military had been brought in to take down the gang activity! The black gangs have been shooting (guns!) at rescue workers, but they're now being "taken care" of by the military... but the people in the picture looked like local police.

i kid you not.
where i live there has never been the typical racism against blacks, because they're so rare they're seen as amazing and/or beautiful. Re:Here's the set up

Postby seemslikeadream » Thu Sep 01, 2005 3:17 pm

September 1, 2005
CHRONOLOGY....Here's a timeline that outlines the fate of both FEMA and flood control projects in New Orleans under the Bush administration. Read it and weep:

January 2001: Bush appoints Joe Allbaugh, a crony from Texas, as head of FEMA. Allbaugh has no previous experience in disaster management.

April 2001: Budget Director Mitch Daniels announces the Bush administration's goal of privatizing much of FEMA's work. In May, Allbaugh confirms that FEMA will be downsized: "Many are concerned that federal disaster assistance may have evolved into both an oversized entitlement program...." he said. "Expectations of when the federal government should be involved and the degree of involvement may have ballooned beyond what is an appropriate level."

2001: FEMA designates a major hurricane hitting New Orleans as one of the three "likeliest, most catastrophic disasters facing this country."

December 2002: After less than two years at FEMA, Allbaugh announces he is leaving to start up a consulting firm that advises companies seeking to do business in Iraq. He is succeeded by his deputy, Michael Brown, who, like Allbaugh, has no previous experience in disaster management.

March 2003: FEMA is downgraded from a cabinet level position and folded into the Department of Homeland Security. Its mission is refocused on fighting acts of terrorism.

2003: Under its new organization chart within DHS, FEMA's preparation and planning functions are reassigned to a new Office of Preparedness and Response. FEMA will henceforth focus only on response and recovery.

Summer 2004: FEMA denies Louisiana's pre-disaster mitigation funding requests. Says Jefferson Parish flood zone manager Tom Rodrigue: "You would think we would get maximum consideration....This is what the grant program called for. We were more than qualified for it."

June 2004: The Army Corps of Engineers budget for levee construction in New Orleans is slashed. Jefferson Parish emergency management chiefs Walter Maestri comments: "It appears that the money has been moved in the president's budget to handle homeland security and the war in Iraq, and I suppose that's the price we pay."

June 2005: Funding for the New Orleans district of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is cut by a record $71.2 million. One of the hardest-hit areas is the Southeast Louisiana Urban Flood Control Project, which was created after the May 1995 flood to improve drainage in Jefferson, Orleans and St. Tammany parishes.

August 2005: While New Orleans is undergoing a slow motion catastrophe, Bush mugs for the cameras, cuts a cake for John McCain, plays the guitar for Mark Wills, delivers an address about V-J day, and continues with his vacation. When he finally gets around to acknowledging the scope of the unfolding disaster, he delivers only a photo op on Air Force One and a flat, defensive, laundry list speech in the Rose Garden.

A crony with no relevant experience was installed as head of FEMA. Mitigation budgets for New Orleans were slashed even though it was known to be one of the top three risks in the country. FEMA was deliberately downsized as part of the Bush administration's conservative agenda to reduce the role of government. After DHS was created, FEMA's preparation and planning functions were taken away.

Actions have consequences. No one could predict that a hurricane the size of Katrina would hit this year, but the slow federal response when it did happen was no accident. It was the result of four years of deliberate Republican policy and budget choices that favor ideology and partisan loyalty at the expense of operational competence. It's the Bush administration in a nutshell.
www.washingtonmonthly.com...007023.php

More fucking idiocy -- they're going to bring in 1400 National Guard MPs each day for several days to 'augment' security, to 'protect' the citizens of New Orleans -- to protect them so they can die, secure?

Whathefu????

And that's ANOTHER 1400 each day they're gonna have to feed and house -- in addition to the approx. 100,000 they STILL can't provide for. Simply incredible.

They've officially 'rescued' 2900 persons via Coast Guard -- There's probably another --what-- 10, 000, 15,000, 20,000 or more, desperate and helpless?

The thing is -- public disaster-response ineptnes has directly contributed to causing desperation which drives outrage and violence, thereby 'justifying' Law and Order show of force. Now FOX is blaring the Criminal Element meme. We're seeing the already desperate situation getting more extreme, with reports of gang and mob violence -- it's the lack of organization and force on-the-ground much earlier to coordinate rescue and relief that has directly contributed to this deteriorating situation. In a rational and responsible system, persons would be bussed or airlifted or boated-out to the immediate environs -- Clearly, this isn't happening -- they're trying to implement point-to-point solutions.

I just can't believe this is happening in the US -- but of course, this is a case of Chickens coming home to roost in many dozens of ways. NOBODY is willing to accept responsibility for lack of adequate planning -- This is the Bush 'model' of Executive Privelege, pass-the-buck -- Chertoff is following this script remarkably close. Not only preparation, but implementation and communication has been appalling -- nevertheless, Chertoff is praising FEMA and everyone else for doing such a remarkable, ingenious job. I seem to find more and more things I'm disgusted by.

And as Anna has pointed-out, this shows how pervasive social inequality and economic disproportion is -- Wealth-concentration is SO endemic, a basic flaw that undermines all social institutions. The system's own rottoness is killing, maiming and hurting uncountable thousands.
My heart bleeds.
Four days waiting for help -- I'd say there's 'chaos' brewing. Perhaps the plan is to write-off the unrescued as a lost-cause?
Starman

My god, my god, why hast thou forsaken them?

Within TEN MINUTES of another empty Chertoff press conference (lineup: Chertoff, DOJ, DOD, Coast Guard...one minute blurb from FEMA...that's it)...within TEN MINUTES the mayor of New Orleans transmits an urgent SOS to CNN saying that the convention center is without resources and 20,000 people have no assistance, no water, no food so they are now being allowed to "march". No one knows why or whither they are marching.

WHILE THE PRESS CONFERENCE HAD BEEN GOING ON CNN was showing images of these same people chanting "we want help"...they are now seeing bodies in the streets...and they mean the dry streets, not drowned corpses...around the convention center. Their producer saw two bodies but when told where others were, she "didn't want to see them."

Document, lady...THAT'S YOUR JOB.

Then, CNN asks Joe Hill or someone, their Capitol Hill Correspondent, why hasn't all of the leadership come back? He says, oh, congressmen are spread all over the world right now. ANd some are in different TIME ZONES so it's hard to get back.

But I know things are getting bad because this same anchor basically called FEMA and DHS liars. After the press conference she commented, "Well, we are seeing this press conference and then we are seeing all these people desperate for help, it's hard to know what the truth is."

That's strong talk for CNN.

I have seen NO images of any kind of aid. A few people rounding folks up at the Superdome but no water drops, nothing.

I just don't even know how to process this.

Louisiana governor just spoke. Says 40,000 troops will come...national guard and from armed forces. ALL OF THIS was said in the context of "quelling the unrest" and law enforcement. ALL OF IT. Unrest? That unrest is awful good at avoiding the camera lens. I haven't seen any.

No boats are seen and rescue workers said Fema called them off. Fema denies it.

Oh, and scrolling under in the CNN coverage is this: a radio volunteer in boca Raton (I think, I know ham radio operators are helping from all over) said that SOLAR FLARES were interfering with radio transmissions. SOLAR FLARES. I just don't have words....

I'm sure you're aware of the work of his "Iron Guard".
Are you familiar w/ the work of his support groups here in the US, esp. in 80's-90's? They've been associated w/ violence, and -- believe it or not -- the CIA.

Solar flares on August 22 produced minor to moderate radio blackouts (R1 and R2) and a moderate radiation storm (S2). Also, two large Earth-directed coronal mass ejections occurred on August 22, which resulted in today's extreme geomagnetic storming. The most intense period of geomagnetic storming occurred between 4:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. EDT on Wednesday.

"Extreme geomagnetic storms could cause problems with power systems, spacecraft operations and other high and low frequency systems like satellite navigation and communications," said Bill Murtagh, a space weather forecaster at the NOAA Space Environment Center. Aviation groups have reported moderate to severe impacts to operations over the past two days due to degraded communications.

"Although NOAA predicted a major storm, this storm was unusually strong," added Murtagh. "The coupling between the solar wind interplanetary magnetic field and Earth's magnetic field was very strong. In fact, we've only observed this intense level of coupling a handful of times over the past 10 years."

This solar activity originated from a complex sunspot cluster known as NOAA Region 798. Minor to moderate radio blackouts are still possible Wednesday. The radiation storm currently in progress is expected to subside by Thursday, August 25. Subsequent activity from this active sunspot group may impact spacecraft and scientific instruments on Mars and in the near-Mars environment during the next week.

NOAA, an agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce, is dedicated to enhancing economic security and national safety through the prediction and research of weather and climate-related events and providing environmental stewardship of the nation's coastal and marine resources.
